I wouldn't make a direct connection between one player's goal percentage and his importance. For example, in Spain, Villa scored something like 80-90% of the goals in the final part of the World Cup and in one of the European Championships, but the main link in the team was not he, but the midfield. Under Xavi and Iniesta, Messi also scored a high percentage of goals and, as you can see, it was easy to replace him with Villa.

Every striker benefits from a strong midfield, but at the same time a strong midfield benefits from a strong striker. If you have a striker with average efficiency, the result will be that all the beautiful passes that midfield plays will never be perceived as what they are. If a strong midfield meets a strong striker, the result is what we have seen in Barcelona.

But let me please add here as you brought up Messi and somewhat drew the line to Villa. Could you please come up with a single name in the history of football that achieved these stats?

This guy has more assists than Xavi and Iniesta combined, I guess everyone knows how sick that is. I have never seen a more deadly striker who at the same time is as deadly in giving assists. The only one who comes to my mind who is better in giving assists is De Bruyne. But this combination of scoring and giving assists debunks this weird point that Messi benefitted from a good midfield throughout his career and that's it, can just be replaced with Villa. Lol, sorry to lol here because I always respect your opinion, but this time we differ severely.

And yes, in Messi's case there is "a direct connection between one player's goal percentage and his importance." In Lukaku usually not so much, but it would hurt Belgium if a player in great shape gets injured because at the moment he seems to be onto something in the national team.

This is not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of fact. Xavi and Iniesta, without Messi, won the World Cup + two European Championships in the period 2008-2012, and Messi failed at the World Cup without them and played mediocre at the Copa America. Do you understand that he was 100% replaceable? Zero uniqueness and zero success without Xavi and Iniesta. This is not an opinion, these are facts.
And if you have a good memory, then you must remember how they said about Messi “if he played in the farm league, he would score 100 goals.” But in the end, when he ended up in the farm league, his performance was absolutely usual and he left PSG to the boos of the fans.

I will actually say that this is probably the best Portugal we have seen in recent times.  Correct me if I am wrong, but I have not seen such dominant performance from Portugal for a long time. I have actually forgot when was the last time I saw Portugal playing like this. This time is really confident right now, and the coach has done really well to make sure that every player plays his role with the best of his capability.

And of course, we cannot forget about Cristiano Ronaldo who has been scoring consistently for Portugal even at this age.  Rafael Leao is still not being able to give his hundred percent with Portugal. But I think he will be in Future.

Right now their team balance within the Portuguese team is good, with Ronaldo getting backed up with younger players such as Rafael Leão, Gonçalo Ramos, João Félix and Diogo Jota. I am more interested to see how they are going to perform without Ronaldo. Because without him, they were not able to perform well during Qatar 2022. And I don't think that Ronaldo will be playing for too long. He is in talks with Al Nassr for contract extension, so there is still a chance. But let's not forget the fact that he is already 39 years old.

Well I think something, for me CR7 is a very good player has a lot of relevance and now things can happen in a better way, I worry something, why don't I want to see CR7 in the team and see how they perform? For thoughts like this and why they miss out on seeing great legends playing football, that's like saying what would Argentina be like without Messi? well obviously they were not first, I don't see that an Argentia is ready to play without Messi, because Messi is the one who makes the difference in this team, I see that things when it comes to seeing, appreciating good football, is with their stars, so that they give us that gift of watching them play and seeing everything they can still do, in this case CR7 is 38 years old, and I think he is in very good shape, in fact I think he is in much better shape than a 20-year-old player, because of the way he runs, the way he makes the passes, goals and above all the experience, if Portugal were to commit again not the mistake but the Horror of leaving CR7 on the bench again, it would be the It's over, because I think they learned in Qatar that it is a horror for a player like this to leave him on the bench, and put him in the last one, otherwise you have to ask Ten Hag how he is doing at the moment with the MU, which has who wins everything because they are considering throwing him away, something they have already done.

So in this order of ideas, I think that Poetutal's secret weapon is CR7, there is no other, there is BRuno, Joao Féliz, but CR7 and the one who makes things count here, you cannot leave a beast locked up, it is It is impossible for them to make the same mistake again and I think that the current coach of Portugal knows it, and he does not want to make enemies of an entire country and only the good players of Portugal like Figo, among others, so in that case no I think the same, but even better he is still CR7, he continues to make a difference at all times, and I believe that in the other World Cup he will continue to break it.

Being ahead of a Ronaldo in the goal scorer list when Ronaldo has a group that is much easier than that of Belgium speaks volumes so far. Lukaku for some reason gets along very well in the national team despite missing De Bruyne. Actually, it is not only about the 10 goals he scored, but about the number of his goals relative to total Belgium goals. He scored 10/16 whereas Ronaldo scored 9/32. This shows how much Lukaku means to the team. He also assisted 1 goal, which gives him a participation rate of 68.75%. That's ridiculous and nobody would have seen that coming.

In about a month's time, the remaining matches will be played and the group stage will be completed.
Starting from group A, Spain and Scotland will most probably be the two teams to come out of this group. Norway no longer has a chance.
In Group B, France are definitely out of the group and will most probably be the leaders. It's still early for the second team, but I think the Netherlands will most probably get out of the group.
In Group C, we see England definitely out of the group and there will be a big battle between Italy and Ukraine for second place. I hope that Italy will be the winner of this competition.
In Group D, our representative Turkey is most likely to come out of the group as the leader. Secondly, there will be a big competition between Wales and Croatia.
In Group E, we see that everything is not completely clear, but it would not be wrong to say that Albania will most likely come out of the group and the second team is not yet clear.
In Group F, we can see that Belgium and Austria are definitely out of the group, I think there is no need to talk more in this group.
In Group G, we can say that Hungary and Serbia will most likely exit the group, Hungary is guaranteed to exit for sure, but Serbia is not guaranteed.
In Group H, although it is not entirely clear, we can say that Slovenia and Denmark will go out hand in hand.
In Group I, Switzerland and Romania are most likely to get out of the group, but we should not forget that Israel is also in the race.
And finally, in Group J, we can say that Portugal is the clear leader. It should not go without saying that Portugal played some good matches in this tournament, they had a really good tournament.

Indeed. I don't remember Lukaku being this much productive for a long time. He is just playing extra impressive when it comes to national team. I wouldn't like to show him like he doesn't play well at Roma of course. Because he has been quite the scorer there at the same time - 5 goals in 6 matches.

But this high level performance can be very beneficial for Belgium as long as he keeps being consistent. Belgium haven't been able to achieve any title in Euro or World Cup tournaments in their history. They have had a golden generation but couldn't make use of it. I wonder what they will do in Euro 2024.

Yes Belgium really had some golden years, but they had some fluctuations in their performance level in the wrong moments during the tournaments. Winning these big tournaments is mostly a question of consistency. Of course you need some luck, but the teams should drop below a certain basis performance level because that is what will knock them out then. Belgium often had problems with Italy and I think the closest they got to win something was at the World Cup 2018 when they lost 1-0 against France in the semifinal and then won the game for 3rd against England 2-0. In that game their offense consisted of Eden Hazard, De Bruyne and Lukaku.

Lukaku has been unstoppable so far. He has 10 goals in 7 matches in the qualifiers. I mean he has a direct contribution to most of their goals. This performance is one of the main factors behind Belgium's having a really successful group stage. De Bruyne has been injured and he will be out for a long time as well.

I thought this would create some problems for Belgium when it comes to creativity and productivity. But Lukaku has made up for his absence really great so far. Do you think Belgium can be successful in Euro 2024 as well?

Lukaku refused playing for Chelsea not even that, he refused retuning for training sections with the club and said he will no longer play for them.
Same happened with Inter Milan, the fans rejected him and same goes to his friend and former teammate who he once defended on and off the pitch Laturo Martinez. In the time of struggle when Lukaku needed them support he had none.

Both for Roma and Belgium. He has scored some good number of goals should be five goals in Seria A ( I'm not so sure. ) Wow, that's awesome, being the top scorer ahead of Ronaldo and other top European players. He has worked hard for this honestly.
Romelu Lukaku was a traitor in the eyes of Inter fans and his colleagues including the administration of the team when he was talking with them and Juventus at the same time. That was an explosive emotional reaction from them and it could be understood.
Otherwise, Lukaku is successful in UEFA EURO Qualifiers 2024 with 10 goals scored making him the best scorer until now followed by Cristiano Ronaldo with 9 goals. In Serie A he was ranked fifth with five goals scored indeed.
Fitting in a club and not in another one is the problem that frequently found among players. No need to try to prove yourself in a team where you fail to adapt, that's what Romelu Lukaku did with Chelsea.

Lukaku didn't blend right into the way Chelsea fans desired. Also, being left footed affected him and it was same issues with Manchester United. A right footer would have been superb otherwise
Good he can now score and gain confidence.

Southgate is indeed lucky but he is not able to utilize the list of talented players before him rather he selects players into his line up with lots of bias. He remains a tactical poor coach.

During the FIFA World Cup Competition, he should have won that game against France to qualify for the finals but he screwed everything.
Let's head back to the Euros and he could have won the game before that penalty shoot out. I don't want to blame him more, you could talk for years and will see no change.

It's the reason i want Pep Guardiola to be managing that squad before they go for the next FIFA World Cup Competition, bit that would only be fantasies you know.

But even if England were able to bring in Pep Guardiola, that still wouldn't guarantee the win of trophies. I think when you compare the best few teams there are in Europe and in the world right now, it would always be a thrilling matchup. Whether it is Argentina vs. France or France vs. England or Spain vs. a team like Croatia or Brazil. There it is not always about one team being 2% better than the other. Moments decide games, a free kick, a penalty that may or may not have been awarded. The way to the final and then to win it is not only in the hands of the coach or the players, it also has to do with very little events during a game.

Agreed. Just like Harry Kane had a penalty to score to keep them on in the game against France during the FIFA World Cup but failed to do so. Pep Guardiola's a top notch manager in the world. This English players have qualities all they need is a sounds and tactical genius to lead the boys. Pep Guardiola would want it.

Having these four names you mentioned on the team as offensive players is quite impressive. They have all very complementary qualities and Bellingham fits perfectly into this formation because he does the same for England as he is doing for Real Madrid. I believe his biggest strength is that he knows how to play his position defensively despite being positioned in the offensive part of the formation. Kane is a great striker with enormous efficiency and Foden and Rashford can speed up the game incredibly fast and with a high technical level. I am not sure what more you could ask for. They are one of the favorites in my opinion.
If Bellingham continues at this level, it seems that he will not leave the Ballon D'Or award to anyone easily in the coming years! As long as there is a Real Lobby behind such a talented and successful player, his rivals will have a harder job.

It was a disgrace for Italy, famous for its defence. The Italian number six played a big part in the second goal. He walks into the defence and makes way for Rashford to pass. In the third goal, the number 19 was not even as combative as a wild donkey against the lion Kane. Weak teams can do this kind of defence.

England played like a storm. It was by far the most spectacular match I've seen in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. The first half, the Italy team's sequence of passing the ball back and forth like 2012 Barcelona with single passes to the feet in some parts was also marvellous.

Lukaku did the right thing for himself by leaving Chelsea at the earliest opportunity. It was obvious that he wasn't going to be able to play decently. We witnessed this scenario before. Lukaku has never been able to become useful for Chelsea. But still Chelsea continued to insist on bringing him back. They even spent an insane amount of money the last time.  Sad

Lukaku has always been concentrated on his game when it comes to his national team matches on one hand. He is currently the top scorer in Euro 2024 qualifiers with 10 goals. What a great effort by him!

He can be the key player for Belgium in Euro 2024 as well.

He struggled with Inter Milan, and Manchester United after Jose Mourinho left, I'm happy to see him buzzing scoring goals an having fun, not just with the National Team but with his club side.
He's been able to silence all of the critics but not all of them. It's good to have a highly and mentally strong coach by his side. The goals he's scored now has led to the rise of his price valuation.

I'd love to see Kevin De Bruyne back, they Belgium didn't do so well during the FIFA World Cup Competition, now it's time for redemption, they can make things up if they work together towards achieving this.
I can't predict that for them, they had it all and couldn't, if thry believe thry would, then they would.

Romelu Lukaku left Inter Milan last season after helping the Italian club to reach the UEFA Champions League final for the first time since 2010 that they defeated  Bayern Munich to win. After he returned to his parent club Chelsea, the Belgium striker wasn't getting offers from big European clubs despite all his footballing prowess at Inter Milan last season. It was AS Roma that later signed him on loan from Chelsea in the last days of the summer transfer window.
However, Lukaku has proven to be the driving force behind Belgium's qualification to the European championship as he's currently the top scorer in the Euro qualifiers. What a turnaround.

I wanted to see the bookmakers' odds on who qualifies from this group, but for some reason the bookmakers haven't published them yet. I can assume that Italy’s chances will be estimated at about 1.60, the coefficient should not be less because in fact this is a multi-bet: Italy must defeat North Macedonia, which is inconvenient for them, and then not lose to Ukraine. The task is not very difficult, but Italy looks unconvincing in recent games.

Quite funny, but there are still no quotes. Moreover, some groups have already been “settled” and you can bet on who will take first place or be in the top 2, but not for group C. Damn, is this really difficult? I don’t like small bookmakers, but sometimes they have quotes for some events much earlier than the main market participants.
If anyone is using a local bookmaker and there are already quotes then I would like to know what they are.

The situation in Group C is very interesting.
Ukraine is second in Group C and has 13 points. Italy is three points behind Ukraine and occupies the third position. But the Italians have one extra game in reserve. If the Italians win their "reserve" game against North Macedonia, then in the last round we will see a super match between Ukraine and Italy. It will be a battle for a ticket to Euro-24.
I will like to see Italy in the Euro next year than Ukraine. Ukraine is a good team with Mudryk, Zichenko, Vitaliy Mykolenko and other players but I reason that Italy will make the competition much more competitive and interesting as a team that have won the competition before and a team with the ability to win it again. I reason that their new coach can really work things out for them and cook this Italian squad into something very special for Germany next year.

Obviously, Italy still has to fight hard in this group because after all, there is only one ticket left available, because England has managed to lock in its position as group winner. But indeed, at least Italy still has one match remaining against North Macedonia and yes, Italy should maximize the match against North Macedonia to win so that it still has a chance to get that ticket. But yes, I think it won't be easy for Italy either. Because of course Ukraine will also maintain its position in second place and yes, if Ukraine can maintain that position then unfortunately, Italy will also fail to qualify.

England's national team squad is all about expensive players.  Grin
So it is very natural if they win the squad that there is qualified in his game and this victory is clearly a landslide for them - in making sure England qualifies.

I think their decisive match will be when they meet in the final round, how will the Italian national team travel? A bit doubtful.

Undoubtedly, the current England squad is one of the most talented squad. But England were beaten by eventual winners Italy, European Championship three years ago and were beaten by France in the quarter finals of the FIFA World Cup last year. England "golden generation" should now be able to win the cup the next European competition that will be held by the Germans.

If Italy had got a point against England they wouldn't have needed so much reckoning but they lost a point against England which is why they have so much to worry about. Italy's next match is against North Macedonia where Italy are very likely to get full points.
