At this point, Ronaldo's last trip to the EURO did not get him anything, maybe he will stay for the World Cup.

The penalty shootout is over - France qualified to the next round. Portugal had to admit defeat in the penalty shootout and Joao Felix will probably feel guilty for the missed opportunity. But it's not about who scores and who doesn't - basically all penalty takers have tried to beat the pressure and look for the right angle to score. Unfortunately - Joao Felix was the only one who didn't score.

France vs Spain - this is another exciting match to look forward to. France and Spain have both progressed to the semi-finals - while tomorrow we look forward to England vs Switzerland and Netherlands vs Turkey. The Netherlands and England are favorites for the semi-finals - I have no doubts about either one.
Yes Joao Felix failed to take the opportunity and indeed he had great pressure to take the left corner but in the end hit the crossbar he might feel disappointed with his failure to make Portugal lose, but this is a challenge it is normal to have to take that action even if it does not become a goal.

Diogo Costa didn't manage to make a single save in the penalty.

We still have two games tomorrow, no less exciting than today, but rest assured England won't let their fans down.
The thing is that one team must go home at the end of the match, which after all the efforts by Portugal to try to move in to the next stage of the competition, they were still eliminated by France during the penalty shootout. To me, I'm not blaming João Félix for his failure to not score the penalty because anyone in his shoes at that time would still have missed it due to pressure, and if you noticed, the France goalkeeper is this kind of keeper that isn't moved by the players show of leg but rather was following the direction of the ball which we saw him do in the first and second penalty kick by Ronaldo and fellow teammate.
Well what has happened has happened and if Ronaldo and even Messi can miss penalty then who's jao Felix ? The whole Portuguese team would just have to take heart and manage the defeat because the game is actually a two sided affair and it favoured in their previous tie doesn't mean it would be the same for every time. My only anger is that Ronaldo actually existed the tournament with no goal even scored, I means that crazy for a player like him it just shows that old age is something that no one can escape.

Wow, what a match it was. The first semifinalist was Spain, who beat Germany 2-1, and the second semifinalist was France, who defeated Portugal in a penalty shootout. The Germany-Spain match was more exciting to watch than the Portugal-France match. Also Olmo’s performance in Spain was commendable.

My 2 mainstay clubs Germany and Portugal must end up in the quarter-finals this time but by looking at the situation that is happening now it seems that indeed with the elimination of Germany, Spain is the strongest possible candidate now considering the French game is still unstable in terms of performance because their performance is very ordinary just like England for this Euro.

France have been really poor in this tournament. It's a miracle they have gotten this far. They haven't scored an open play goal all tournament yet they're in the semis. Today's match between Portugal and France was just boring. Neither of them deserves to qualify. The difference maker for France are big players, nothing more. The coach doesn't really know what he's doing anymore, players like Mbappe and Griezmann seem very average.

I'm not happy that Germany has been eliminated. Germany and Spain are the only two teams that deserve a place in the semis. If they weren't paired together, they both would have been in the semi finals by now.
France have a chance to win a depleted Spain who will be without Cavalja and Pedri, but if France played the way they played today, Spain would knock them out and I expect that to happen.

I don't have any high hopes for England, but they have a relatively easier path so they might somehow riggle their way into the finals.

All of us have our own predictions for the bets we will place in the match later.
Both have the same percentage of winning, so I think whatever bet you place will not be wrong.
After watching the last few matches between the two teams, it seems like I will bet on Germany winning in the next match.
And for the Portugal vs France match I will bet on Portugal winning.

True no doub...
But I will bet on opposite foe both predictions we all have our view of predicting things but the way I see it, France are always active when they are getting near to winning and for Spain I don't know how you viewed it although Germany was very tough but I think Spain is going to perform better although they have same odds  which means even betting sited couldn't finalise a decision based on performance  Smiley

Wow, this is interesting I was thinking about the probabilities between the two big matches today, and saw that several people had already made their choices while I still couldn't see any significant differences whether it was Germany and Spain or Portugal and France. The hosts seem to be very aggressive and interestingly Spain also has the same game format where Spain has shown a fast style of play. In the hands of Luis de la Fuente, Spain game no longer adheres to tiki taka, therefore in almost every match Spain is able to carry out a total attack in the first minute.

Returning to the tough choice that must be made for Germany vs Spain, I will bet on Spain winning, and Portugal vs France so for me Portugal is slightly more favored.
Spain is in... Cool wasn't easy though it was hard to get for Spain  there was red card in the game Carvajal ( I knew there was going to be a read card though because it was a tough game ) but we have a Victor. Waiting for France Let's see if I'm wrong or you would be wrong  Cheesy Cheesy..still on France actually

Finally won both predictions   Grin although it came hard but both team performed excellently,a winner must just be determined... Portugal played so well didn't expect it to be Joao but I think it's just tension, really sucks to be him though Tongue as a star player.... not too surprised  Messi also loosed a penalty for Argentina..guess today is just a penalty error day   Grin. Anyways need to step down with the winning result  Cool
In stages like this, there must always be a winner and France was able to win through penalty shootout even though they did not perform better than Portland. Penalty is a game of luck and anyone can miss penalty. If nobody misses, there will be no winner. Jao Felix penalty was good but it hit the goal post which became a problem for Portugual.

France and Spain will clash in the semifinals making every stage of the competition more interesting with much fun an thrill. It will be a tough match in which the strongest and luckiest wl be in the finals. Tomorrow is the last match day of the quarter finals, I don't think that the matches will extend to 30 minutes extra time as I expect 90 minutes victory from the two matches.

Stilll 0 -0  between Portugual and France with 2 minutes left.
This will be probably a penalty shootout game, probably the best scenario for Portugual at the start of the game.

Spain is cleary the favorite for the final win now.

Well after that display of "lets not lose" from Portugal and France I dont think
Spain will be too worried about France who still havent scored from open play.
Both Portugal and France had many many chances to score in that match, the finishing
was lacking by both unfortunately.

Mbappe still hasnt shown us his potential nor has griezmann shown us that either.

On the other hand Spain have scored 10, it doesnt bide well for France or
Portugal if they had gone through.

It's a shame that Portugal lost in the penalty round because one of their kickers (Joao Felix) failed to execute his part, congrats to France who are officially going to the semi-finals, it's not an easy road ahead, because they will face Spain who managed to beat the host team .
Ronaldo has a new record in this competition of playing in five games and not scoring any goal. He has done his best and needs to really give other players a chance to shine in this Portugal team.

Essentially Portugal played with 10 men, Renaldo had very little to contribute
and doesnt pose the threat he once was, and still France couldnt capitalise

The coach would have easily taken him off to bring in other new players, but because the coach knows how much the media will make that a headline, he had to keep him on. Portugal had many opportunity to win the game, they wasted it all.
France are not Slovenia, they have more experience with penalties and playing in top competition, Portugal should not have expected Costa to save many penalty kicks like he did against Slovenia.

Still a goalless draw in Portugal Vs France, I hope Ronaldo and his team will send the African team home. But let the better team win. I expect to see penalties here.
The reality was different as Portugal were knocked out of the competition due to Joao's shot hitting the post.
This is a little upsetting because I hope more for Portugal in this euro even though they are dark horses but indeed the composition of their players is very good it's just that their mentality is not very good especially for Joao.

France have a very good mentality for Penalties and we can't deny that because their kickers are quite comfortable as if they are carefree which makes Diogo Costa fail to do the same as he showed in the round of 16 against Slovenia.

As I expected, my favourite to win this year's trophy, Spain, did not let down.
I think Germany was the toughest team out of all the other remaining ones, but Spaniards managed to get through them, and should be much easier from here.

It looks like you should be disappointed, Portugal lost in this penalty shootout, Joao Felix failed to complete the penalty kick that was entrusted to him, if Felix had not failed in the penalty kick then it is very likely that Portugal would have escaped, after all, everyone has worked hard, France is superior and no one can deny that, they are still the favorite team to win the Euro event this time (apart from Spain)

France have finally qualified to the semifinals with penalty shootout after they were able ro score all five penalties without any mistake. Jao Felix missed his own penalty which was what deprived them from qualifying. It was a tough match and Spain will be playing with France in the semifinals. Spain will definitely win France in their next match because penalty is a game of luck and France have very lucky in this competition. The penalty ended 5-3.
Actually, I expected more for Joao because he was a substitute for Leao in extra time was the right decision, it's just that penalties are obviously very difficult and this is an unlucky day for Joao Felix.
France did not have a good performance for this Euro unlike what they did in the world cup but the mentality of the youngsters brought by Deschamps deserves thumbs up.
It's just that this result did not end well for Portugal even though I expected something more for them in today's match and hoped they would qualify but reality must say otherwise. It's an even deeper sadness that this is the last season for Cristiano which makes the regret a little bit bigger.

However, we must congratulate France for making it to the semi-finals even though it looks like it will be a tougher match as their opponents are Spain.

Very impressive for the Spain vs Germany match. From the start of the first half, i already knew that Spain would win this match, because in the first half it could be seen that Spain was putting more pressure and threats on Germany, but unfortunately, from many attacks given by Spain, they still couldn't score a single score. In the second half, Spain managed to score a very meaningful goal through a measured shot given by Dani Olmo, the shoot could not be reached by Germany Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, but Germany managed to score an equalizing goal, through a goal given by Florian Wirtz. Until the second half ended, the two teams had a score of 1-1 until the end. In the extra time round, Germany was forced to suffer defeat because of a goal given by a Spain player through a neat header by Mikel Merino Zazon.

I'm sure this is all due to good teamwork, especially for the Spain Manager who seems to have expected a good impact by including Dani Olmo and Mikel Merino Zazon in the substitutions. Bravo to Spain for beating Germany as a tough team and making it through to the semifinals.

The match ended with a miss from Felix that knocked Portugal out of the Euros.
The penalty this time was unlike any previous penalty for them and the 3-5 result was a drama in today's match.

A little disappointed because in the actual match Portugal was still superior in my opinion compared to France especially in extra time, it's just that the penalty was a little complicated because after all this is a match where each other's mentality is tested and Portugal must be willing to be eliminated in this event.

Congratulations to France, it's just that with his current game, the semi-finals will be very difficult against Spain, which in fact is very good for this Euro.

Well I would say hold that thought because France is still in the game as they have successfully won Portugal and like I said, I was certain that the french would win this game because penalty shoot out for me is more favourable for them. Well the tournament is now getting interesting as the next round would be another classic as France and Spain battle it out for a place in the finals.

Germany, with all the squad they had, couple that they are the hosts of the competition could not move pass this level. I expected to see more efforts from the likes Of Gundogan, Bellingham and Harvert to play harder for the team. At first when I saw their formation, it didn't seem to be something that was chosen goals. Maybe it was a planned case of making goals first then closing their house to a tight defence against the Spanish guys.

Spain however got harder in the game went for the goals. They had Morata, Williams and Yamal at the forefront to strike. But was more grandiose was the last minute substitute that brought in Olmo who put the icing on the cake for his national team thereby making the winning goal that qualified the Spanish guys to the semi-finals and pushed the hosts back home.
