England vs Switzerland will be the first action of the day. England were one of the favorites of this tournament before the tournament but they didn't perform well in the tournament. I think they were below expectations. Southgate is criticized a lot. I think there is justified criticism against him. Because they have a very good squad. But they cannot show a performance equivalent to this squad. On the other hand, Murat Yakın and Switzerland are one of the best teams in the tournament. I expect them to surprise England in this match. But I will bet on both teams to score.
England favorite? Hmmm for me that's too way off because from the start of this competition I have always known that england were going to be one of the struggling ones and this is because they have never been convincing in their style of play, I don't know how they have managed to even squeeze their selves to this round but what I do know is that Switzerland is certainly a big and major threat for them.
@Ondekinecakabilirim is very much right, England was considered the favorites of the tournament because of the overall value of the players when compared to the rest, and they pretty much had a much easier path to get out of the groups and hopefully get to the finals...but we all have watched what a sh*ty game it's been for this star rated team has been giving us below average performances and a bit of luck that has got them this far!

Already playing against the Swiss, as expected the draw Queens(England) can't find the back of the net, and if you ask me given a chance for Switzerland to express themselves...I don't see England progressing but let's see how the game unfolds.

Sad for Portugal and Ronaldo that he wasn't able to take his team in the semi finals. Sometimes the penalties are cruel for one team as i thought Portugal played a better game but in the end, it was France who made it to the semis.

Mbappé with the protective mask be again be seen in action in the next match.
France will play with Spain in the Semi finals and remember Spain is that team who eliminated the hosts Germany.  Sad I really wanted to see Germany progress but sometimes wishes do not come true.

It's going to be a blockbuster of a game, but I have a feeling Spain could go all the way to win it because they are getting the goals in open play and avoiding the penalty shoots which tend to be 50-50...which for me says this is a team with a plan on how to win the tournament!

Exactly, despite England having good squad but yet they haven't shown any signs of professionalism in their play and honestly, for England to reach this stage of the competition it still Marvels me because they didn't play like a team that want to move further in this competition. Just imagine this line up of Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Declan Rice and Phil Foden this are high profile players in their respective leagues but apart from Saka, Phil Foden and Harry Kane the rest are not showing any good performance. Currently they are playing a goaless draw in the first half of the quarter finals between them and Switzerland and I was expecting that England must have been leading by now but yet no goal yet. Though the Switzerland side are proven hard to win because I remembered the match between them and Germany, they played real good football that day.
Seems all the quarter finals matches will end in halftime draw and possibly full-time draw as it happened in the matches played yesterday but let's await the final outcome of England - Switzerland match and the later game between Netherlands and Turkey

How England have managed to walk through into the semifinals stage is truly unbelievable if we are to juxtaposition them with their performance in every of the games they have played so far. Maybe they just haven't met with the team that will really unclad them to their underperformance with shocking scores of defeat.

Not that England don't have the talented players for them to be in frontline of this tournament as potential winner but it all seems that there is a large gap of connection and coordination between the players on the pitch. And Southgate hasn't been making the game any better with his choice of starting X1, Cole Palmer still not starting in today's match despite how the young lad has been so effective coming from bench. I think Southgate needs to understand he's playing with a Switzerland team that dissembled the Italian team defense just within the first 45 minutes of official playing time which is why I had expected he was going to do things differently starting with his first X1.
This is the worst and most boring match in the quarter finals as there was no shot on target by both teams and their goalkeeper didn't have any ball to save but just relaxing because of weak strikers. England as usu took dominaceof the first half but they couldn't create a better chance of finding the back of the net. Switzerland was on the defensive side because they are being careful and don't want to make any mistakes because England is in charge of the midfield. I don't know what will be the outcome of the second half and I hope that it will be interesting.

Portugal vs France ended without a goal. After the two teams failed to score in extra time, the match went to penalties to decide the winner. France advanced to the next round on penalties. Portugal had more possession in the match but France had a richer match in terms of goal positions. To be honest, it was a boring match. It was probably the last European Championship for Ronaldo. We can say that his national team career is over.

Spain was the better team overall and they won. The VAR checked the supposed handball and decided it was not worth a penalty.

The same with the France vs Portugal, it was not as exciting as the previous quarterfinal but France surely was the better team. Even though non scored, France advanced through penalty shootout.

For today, England vs Switzerland would be the best match. England is always a good team and Switzerland has upped their game this time. It would be a competitive one.

I would like to know specifically what France was better at in this tournament. They didn't score (reaching the semi-finals) a single field goal. I’m not saying that they are unfairly moving on, but I am sure that there is no need to look for logic in the lottery results. Yesterday France was just luckier.
As for the possible penalty in the game Germany - Spain, the referee could well have awarded it: this rule is very subjective and the fact that Kukurela’s hand was in the path of the ball was his fault; if the hand had been pressed to the body, there would have been no questions.

Portugal's defeat on penalties was not a bad thing for them after all the Portuguese players struggled in the match against France. This means that Portugal is a strong team that cannot be beaten if there is no penalty shootout in the end, but this has become an obligation where after extra time there is still no loser who has to go through a penalty shootout. And Portugal must go home with a feeling of pride even though there is also a feeling of sadness in the hearts of the Portuguese players and supporters themselves.

Since the second half began, I've noticed that the match will end in a penalty shootout because Portugal is not pushing the ball out but rather generating possession in the game, which is why Ronaldo isn't in the game because no one is feeding him on the pitch and he isn't enjoying the game, and Portugal believes they will still have a chance in the penalties shootout against France but fails. Flex missed an opportunity, but you can't blame him since a penalty is a lucky shot; no one is great at it, and if you miss a penalty, you won't win every time. Ronaldo is finished playing Euro for the country, and Bruno will take over his position now for the next time.

Germany vs Spain was a challenging encounter, and both teams performed admirably on the field. But what I don't understand is why Spain's defender Cucureral the hardball that is did why they didn't giveGermany a penalty. In my opinion, this is a fraud because Germany should have qualified if the penalty was given.

England-Switzerland match will start soon, it will be a competitive match. I don't think England is very good, Switzerland is one of the surprise teams this year.

I think the most important match of the night will be Netherlands-Turkey, let's see how this match will end.

Although Switzerland is highly regarded, I believe England is also rather good. They will give it their all and win today to advance to the next round, because I believe England is the favorite to win the game. Let's see how it turns out. Because England has key players who will help the country improve and make fans happy, you can't predict the match now. In the second half you'll probably know who is struggling in the game England or Switzerland, because of how the game went against Spain and Germany yesterday. Many people believe Germany will come and win the game. If they probably go to a penalty shootout because Spain's goalkeeper is not good enough because making a lot of mistakes making Germany having alot of chance against them but they miss used to opportunities they have in the pitch. Let see who will probably win today and face Netherlands or Turkey.

It will be an exciting match too, after we saw Germany and Spain in the past, England must have evaluated from the previous match, Southgate will definitely make a difference and correct mistakes, but Switzerland cannot be underestimated, they are the best team too, and I think this will be a difficult match for both.

I think that the game might end in a draw, or like Germany and Spain, they need extra time to continue from two full halves, would you bet on tonight's game, I think I myself am not sure about the odds.

In the match between Portugal and France I noticed the weakness of Portugal's clear finishing. In this important match, Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to be absent from the field. Throughout the match he was only seen going close to the ball a few times and wasted the ball every time it came to him. Portugal might have won before extra time if they could have finished better than the chances they had. But unfortunately after 120 minutes of play neither team could score against either side so the result was confirmed by Tiebreaker where France won by a wide margin. Cristiano Ronaldo's last Euro tournament was where he did nothing of note for the team.

I would say Portugal lost this match because of their match strategy. It is true that Ronaldo's presence was not seen in this match. But this is also due to poor match strategy. The ball is not delivered to Ronaldo. Portugal's players made a lot of shots. But most were off target. If the Portugal coach had made his match strategy based on Ronaldo, maybe Portugal's gameplay would have been more organized in this match. Portugal's players completely ignored Ronaldo in this match. I watched the entire match. The Portugal coach should have made a match strategy based on Ronaldo.

However, in this match both the defenders and goalkeeper Khui performed well. Both teams played attacking. If the goalkeepers and defenders were not good, we would have seen several goals in this match.
I think that the coach didn't want Ronaldo to play but he couldn't bench him on the seat because the ex-manager did that and lost his job. Ronaldo's influence is big. I know that he wants his team to win but he should face the fact that he is old. I think that Ronaldo intentionally decreased his activity in the match and let others to play more. It is what it is, a very sad moment for Ronaldo, his fans and the Portuguese.

Btw EURO 2024 posted Ronaldo's image with title - The Last Dance? It was with a question mark. Does anyone think that Cristiano Ronaldo will play in EURO 2028?
I personally think that Cristiano will play in the World Cup 2026 and then retire. To my mind, WC 2026 will be his last dance. He already won EURO, so this is not a big deal. I'm also very sad for Tony Croos, he deserved a better ending.

England vs Switzerland

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England XI: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Konsa; Trippier, Mainoo, Rice, Saka; Bellingham, Foden; Kane

🇨🇭 Switzerland XI: Sommer; Schär, Akanji, Rodriguez; Aebischer, Freuler, Xhaka, Rieder; Vargas, Ndoye, Embolo

Here we go again England vs Switzerland at quarter final, the two are in their best form now England haven't lost in their last four matches while Switzerland haven't lost in their last eight matches too, you can see both of them will face a tough situation in this game, the match will be interesting to watch, the both teams are good so I found it difficult to pick the winner, l will seat and watch from the beginning to the end to see who goes to the semi final.

Here in this match, I really would like to see Switzerland winning to tell the truth.  Tongue  Because I don't like the way England play you know. Southgate is one of the worst coaches national teams have ever had so far. I mean it.

Switzerland were rock solid against Italy. The coach Murat Yakın was so confident of himself and he didn't say it in vain. If they manage to score an early goal things can get very interesting...

Of course I'm looking forward to our match against Netherlands the most.  Roll Eyes  Our players really surprised me by reaching the quarter finals. I hope we do our best no matter what the result would be. I want us to give a good answer to the unfair decision on Merih Demiral by UEFA.

The Spanish team has shown that they are not only good at performance but they also have a winning mentality and incredible stamina. Spain initially really dominated the game and didn't give Germany much space to get into their rhythm. However, conditions changed slightly when Spain gained a goal advantage, where Luis de La Fuente seemed to want to change strategy and pull out several of their key players such as Lamine Yamal, Alvaro Morata, and Nico Williams, and that decision actually paved the way for Germany to find a goal.

The difference in stamina between the two was clearly visible in the extra time, where the German players looked very exhausted, and they could not overcome this obstacle because they could no longer make substitutions.
This is not a problem of stamina and mentality, but indeed Spain's quality is slightly better, they played much better with the many attacks they managed to carry out and luck came in the final minutes of extra time, this was truly an extraordinary surprise, no one expected it. there will be a goal in those last seconds.

And overall I think Spain also deserves to qualify for the semifinals.

And in another match, Portugal had to be eliminated quite painfully because they lost through a penalty shootout even though their performance was slightly better but unfortunately no goals were scored in normal time.
Spanish won, and that was that. Let us not pretend, though, they were perfect. Germany had their opportunity. Havertz ought to have put one there; that handball? All penalties. Refs make mistakes, but occasionally they completely change the game. Portugal here? Breakthrough. They were tenacious and matched France exactly. penalties, though? That is a flip of coins. Sometimes it's about lucky rather than who's better. Spain thus continues, France squeaks by. Mean what? That implies the next game will be rather big. Was Spain simply lucky, or can it sustain this momentum? Though France is riding high, can they manage the pressure?

Spain was the better team overall and they won. The VAR checked the supposed handball and decided it was not worth a penalty.

Southgate must thank Jude Bellingham because Jude Bellingham's goal in the last minute saved them from defeat in the round of 16. I don't see what Southgate really wants to show with England, because the direction of their game is not visible at all, even though they are one of the constants with a luxurious squad, and maybe they are the most luxurious squad at the euro this year. But with the luxurious players he had, he couldn't instruct a good strategy.
Even in selecting players, I question what he is thinking, especially when he makes substitutions, in my opinion he makes a lot of mistakes. So it is natural that he has become the target of criticism, especially from England fans in this tournament. After the Euros end, I think England should start thinking about ending their collaboration with this coach. There are still many coaches who can be better than him.
I say this not that I hate it or anything like that, but this is based on an assessment of the English game as a whole.

I agree with you that Portugal players neglected Ronaldo in this match. Ronaldo did not get any support from midfielder or forward players in this match. In particular, I would say that if Rafael Leao had assisted Ronaldo properly, or if there had been a good understanding between Leao and Ronaldo, Portugal would have been able to score in this match.

The match was very competitive. Both teams tried to dominate the match. Neither team was able to score as the defenders of both teams played very well. However, the two main attractions of this match, Mbappe and Ronaldo, did not perform as well as we expected.

I don't know why I'm always too pained when I see this England lineup and Cole Palmer is always missing with almost a repetition of the same names that aren't working right from the group stage. It's complete five matches and the dude has been on the bench even though throughout the time he came on he always makes positive contributions to the play. The coach obviously has his reason for not starting him till now but whatever those reasons are till this phase of the match is totally not right. Saka Bellingham and Foden have all started in all matches and the creativity hasn't been topnotch apart from the angle of Saka one would have expected that at this point,  he should have tried another more creative option and see what outcome it would fetch for the team but he's still working with a lineup that's not showing any positive result till this phase and the team is paying for it and have to struggle for most of the games they are currently playing.

Ideally, this should be one of those matches England should comfortably win without any form of stress but we can't even bet that with our complete minds with the kind of performance they've been putting up before this match.

Lets blame the coach because he was supposed to glue the team together but he did not. If the players are not passing to Ronaldo then he should have caution them because he is responsible for making the squad to play as a team. Ronaldo should have also been substituted and not being allowed to play all the minute played when he is not having any impact on the performance of the team. This is his very first competition of not scoring any goals and only gave one assist. This statistics should have shown the coach that he is not playing at his very best for him to be substituted. Yesterday was a very sad day for international football because we might not see Ronaldo play any international football until he retires but it was good for young players as they will receive more attention as the old players retire.

I agree with you, If someone has to be blamed then that person is the coach. As a person who provides instructions and strategies that must be played by the players, he should have been observant enough to notice for what reason Ronaldo can't even score one goal. If he knows the cause, he should have provided a solution for that, or if it really feels necessary, he also has to have the courage to put Ronaldo on the bench if that really means his team can score a goal.
It is impossible for the coach to substitute Ronaldo because he needs to play penalty whenever there is an opportunity. His presence on the field can turn things around for them at any moment. Portugal played well in both halves but they were unable to secure a winning goal which led the match to a penalty shootout.

Ronaldo scored is own PK but Jao Felix who was cam in as a substitute so that he can play penalty was the one that lost the match. The coach should not be blamed at all because he did his best but luck was not on their side because penalty is a game of luck. After all, France is also a strong team and not a mediocre team.
