It's like destiny chose Dani Olmo in this match as this player lost his position in Spain squad throughout this Euro 2024 but the injury of Pedri gave Olmo a chance to join this quarter final match very early. Then he shined with one goal and one assist to help Spain beating the host of this tournament, Germany.
Dani Olmo is and exceptional and talented player, it’s always difficult seeing him on the bench but, given the sort of talent you have in the Spanish team, you’ll understand that, it’s got to be that way. Fortunately for him and unfortunately for Pedri, they’ve got to swap places following an injury situation. It didn’t look very nasty given that, it wasn’t intentional from Toni Kroos who appeared to have been late to the challenge, not even a card was given for the challenge but, it saw Pedri out.

This surely posses some challenge to the Spanish team but, Dani Olmo soon became ash in their mouths as he and Lamin Yamal produced the first goal. After which, you could fine Germany being more dominant in the game, pressing forward and forcing aggressive plays out of Dani Carvajal. K. Havertz had some great chances in front of goal and was able to lift really high to claim a header in good positions but, couldn’t find the goal.

Germany’s goal came out of an ingenious back headed ball from J. Kimmich, right into the legs of Florian Wirtz with a clear sight of goal, directed the ball into the net. I couldn’t feel any less sorry for Spain as it was the last minute in regular time. They stilled managed a victory in the extra time to avoid a penalty and just like that, Germany is out.

The winners of the 2 matches played yesterday were decided after extra time. In the match between Spain and Germany, Spain scored in the last minute of extra time to win 2-1 and eliminate the hosts. Both teams played on an equal level throughout the match and had plenty of chances. Olmo scored the first goal of the match early in the second half. Germany went into the last minutes with a lot of stress and Wirtz scored the goal that would take his team into extra time in the last minutes of the match. The match went into extra time. In the last minute of extra time, Spain won the round with Merino's goal, thus knocking the hosts out of the tournament.

England vs Switzerland will be the first action of the day. England were one of the favorites of this tournament before the tournament but they didn't perform well in the tournament. I think they were below expectations. Southgate is criticized a lot. I think there is justified criticism against him. Because they have a very good squad. But they cannot show a performance equivalent to this squad. On the other hand, Murat Yakın and Switzerland are one of the best teams in the tournament. I expect them to surprise England in this match. But I will bet on both teams to score.

The match will start shortly. I am yet to decide which team I will be betting on. Although we consider England as the favorite, we do not see a better performance than England in the past matches. Almost all of England's opponents were relatively weak. However, England's performance was not good.

On the other hand Switzerland team performed well against big teams like Italy and Germany. Switzerland won 2-0 against Italy. Switzerland players are confident and their match strategy is also quite good. I think Switzerland will win. But the England team is also quite experienced. Kane, Bellingham, Saka, Foden and Walker are all excellent players.

Lets blame the coach because he was supposed to glue the team together but he did not. If the players are not passing to Ronaldo then he should have caution them because he is responsible for making the squad to play as a team. Ronaldo should have also been substituted and not being allowed to play all the minute played when he is not having any impact on the performance of the team. This is his very first competition of not scoring any goals and only gave one assist. This statistics should have shown the coach that he is not playing at his very best for him to be substituted. Yesterday was a very sad day for international football because we might not see Ronaldo play any international football until he retires but it was good for young players as they will receive more attention as the old players retire.

I agree with you, If someone has to be blamed then that person is the coach. As a person who provides instructions and strategies that must be played by the players, he should have been observant enough to notice for what reason Ronaldo can't even score one goal. If he knows the cause, he should have provided a solution for that, or if it really feels necessary, he also has to have the courage to put Ronaldo on the bench if that really means his team can score a goal.

I think Cristiano Ronaldo who is one of the greatest football star in the world are also facing the cruelty of aging, he is no longer able to sprint as fast as before with surprise counter attacking when he gets the ball in a good spot on the football field. I guess if Cristiano Ronaldo were to be in his prime years at his best form, Portugal will have a high chance to beat France in 90 minutes time and avoid getting eliminated in penalties shootout against France.

Well said but the game yesterday night wasn't about Cristiano Ronaldo alone. They have a dump headed coach. If you ask me, I'd say he knows nothing. Portugal had little chances in the game and he went ahead to substitute Bruno Fernandez from that game and I was thinking he wants to play the long gameby hoping they play penalties, how did he remove Bruno Fernandez that is obviously the best penalty taker they have? It shows how poor tactically he Roberto Martinez has been in this Competition.

Leoa the AC Milan winger, what was he doing on the pitch? A whole are placing blames on Joào Felix but I'd do that to Roberto Martinez. If I was the National Team, that'll obviously be his last game.

Ronaldo wasn't scoring getting chances, why allow him to play that long, why not bring in players like, Ramos and Diego Jota? He bottled up that game completely. It's disappointing. They have done a whole lot, Thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo he has done well for football, even in the next three decades, we'll never see another Cristiano Ronaldo. So much to say, but I'll pass.

I think Spain played very well, I didn't expect them to play this well. Germany was not as good as I expected, they missed many opportunities. In fact, both teams could have scored many more goals, but they were on their unlucky days. If the goal had not been scored in the last minutes, the players would have been much less tired. Overtime in such matches is very tiring and can cause great stress

Yeah, they could be facing Netherland in the finals again  Wink  ..... I don't see three lions going that far honestly. Germany did all they could bit they failed to take it all to the penalties. That header wasn't expected. They did their best. Spain against France is another finals but we're clear who wins that game even before it kicks off, yes?

In the match between Portugal and France I noticed the weakness of Portugal's clear finishing. In this important match, Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo seemed to be absent from the field. Throughout the match he was only seen going close to the ball a few times and wasted the ball every time it came to him. Portugal might have won before extra time if they could have finished better than the chances they had. But unfortunately after 120 minutes of play neither team could score against either side so the result was confirmed by Tiebreaker where France won by a wide margin. Cristiano Ronaldo's last Euro tournament was where he did nothing of note for the team.

I would say Portugal lost this match because of their match strategy. It is true that Ronaldo's presence was not seen in this match. But this is also due to poor match strategy. The ball is not delivered to Ronaldo by other players. Portugal's players made a lot of shots. But most were off target. If the Portugal coach had made his match strategy based on Ronaldo, maybe Portugal's gameplay would have been more organized in this match. Portugal's players completely ignored Ronaldo in this match. I watched the entire match. The Portugal coach should have made a match strategy based on Ronaldo.

However, in this match both the defenders and goalkeeper performed well. Both teams played attacking. If the goalkeepers and defenders were not good, we would have seen several goals in this match.

To be honest, I want to see Turkey and Switzerland qualify for the semifinals, but before that we still have to wait for tonight's match which will determine the fate of these two teams. The opponents are two big teams in this competition and have undoubted history so their chances of qualifying are quite small.

However, I will still be confident that they can get through it because Turkey is also showing very good progress and against the Netherlands will certainly be a challenge that they have to overcome first. I think the Netherlands also deserve to qualify, but if in this match they are not lucky enough then it will be a very surprising thing. On the other hand, we know how bad England have been under coach Southgate and only luck saved them from getting to this round. I don't want to see England play badly again because if that happens then Switzerland will have a greater chance of securing a ticket to the semifinals.

I think that Portugal played an excellent match and tried until the end, as for Ronaldo I think he is one of the strongest players ever and there is no doubt about this, now that his time has come it is a given but given everything they have won it seems like a well-deserved rest, France will go a long way and will most likely play in the final!
Portugal's defeat on penalties was not a bad thing for them after all the Portuguese players struggled in the match against France. This means that Portugal is a strong team that cannot be beaten if there is no penalty shootout in the end, but this has become an obligation where after extra time there is still no loser who has to go through a penalty shootout. And Portugal must go home with a feeling of pride even though there is also a feeling of sadness in the hearts of the Portuguese players and supporters themselves.

I stand with Ukraine!
What you say is quite reasonable, the foul committed by Toni Kroos on Pedri instead became a way for Dani Olmo to shine in that match, where Dani Olmo was able to score 1 goal and make a good assist that ensured Spain's victory over Germany. But I have another perspective. If only Pedri hadn't gotten injured in that match, I think Spain would really win control of the game, and most likely they would win without having to go through extra time because Pedri has exceptional ball control and astuteness in reading the game.

With this good performance, Olmo will probably be chosen in a Spanish debut squad for the semi final match with France. Pedri with his injury will no longer be able to play in Euro 2024 and the quarter final match costs Spain a lot with several yellow cards and as I remember Carvajal will be suspended next match. This defender already get enough yellow cards to be suspended but two or three generous extra minutes from the referee costs Carvajal more, with a red card.

Will he only miss the semi final match or will be miss the final match too?
If news I read is accurate, Carvajal will come back in the final match, if Spain go there.

Wow, what a match it was. The first semifinalist was Spain, who beat Germany 2-1, and the second semifinalist was France, who defeated Portugal in a penalty shootout. The Germany-Spain match was more exciting to watch than the Portugal-France match. Also Olmo’s performance in Spain was commendable.

To be sincere with you I wished for the Spain vs Germany game to never come to an end, the energy of both teams was really high to get a win. I had it in mind that the host might lost at full time but they manage to pull one back to level the game and head to extra time. The Spanish players are the best in this tournament because of the way the went about business since the beginning of the competition, now is a total of 5 games in a row without losing or a draw and from how I saw things about them I believe they're going to win it, their chances of winning is higher than any other country in the tournament. With Portugal and Germany out of the way we're left with France who might be a better opponent to get to the final.
It was a very painful mistake for Germany, because they had to concede in the final minutes before the penalty shootout. A look of sadness was visible from the German players, especially senior players such as Muller and Kroos. Yes, of course they are very sad because this will be their last EURO.
There was hope when Germany equalized at the end of the second half of normal time, and they forced themselves to play in extra time. However, what Spain felt at the end of the second half, they had to feel at the end of the second half of extra time, because the goal scored by Spain meant they had to be eliminated and lose in this top 8 match.

It was the finals for me and no game in this quarter finals can beat that game between Spain and Germany. I would have loved to see some of those old players you mentioned in the finals but going against a team that have good runners with the ball and a midfield that's solid I don't think they can get past them. Spain had it all and the German side only have the little man Musiala, he has been the man who made the difference up front since the beginning of the tournament for Germany, if they had like two good wingers that can cause much problem I think they won't have find it difficult against Spain. If you mention someone like the former Man City player Sane, he has lost his ability of making things happen, no force or whatsoever to help the team get goals or him getting the goal for his team and is not how I expected him to perform in this tournament. For now every other teams will be very careful with how they play against Spain.

The England vs Switzerland quarter final match is going to start soon, the team that wins the match today will be able to enter the semi finals. If we are still saying for sure that England team will win against Switzerland but here surely I think we will see an interesting game. Because Switzerland have qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating a team like Italy, they will surely perform well against England today. If the Switzerland team can mount a strong attack against England, there will be a chance of victory. But England team has better stars than Switzerland so England is still very strong so it will not be easy to win against England. However, there is not much difference between the two teams as per the betting rating, both teams are strong.

The game between Germany and Spain was certainly competitive but Germany lost after 30 minutes of extra time.  Germany, the host nation, naturally went ahead against Spain, but Spain did well in the match. Most of the time we saw Spain was ahead of Germany. When Spain scored the first goal, Germany tried hard but could not score, but at the very end of the main time, Germany scored a goal to bring the team back to level. If Germany had been able to perform as aggressively in extra time as Germany did in the second half, the outcome of the match might have been different.

In the match between Spain and Germany my bet was in favor of Germany but I'm not unhappy with the result because Spain performed so well that's why they won and Spain definitely qualified for the next round.
Both teams played a good game and Threatened the side equally but I think Germany take a little easy as they were playing at their home and they thought they would win this game in a good way but in the last minutes of extra time Spain stunned the whole German fans team and country and place themselves in the semis. Spain deserves this because they play a good game as compared to Germany.
And the favorite of the tournament Germany is out of the EURO2024.
TONI KROOS AND MULLER ERA ALSO COMES TO AN END.

I have been a fan of him and respecting him very much just as I feel the same about Messi.  Smiley  I have grown up watching these legends in their primes. However both of them are old now unfortunately. It is affecting their skills negatively also which is inevitable. Ronaldo isn't like the deadly finisher we knew in the past.

This is why I think Ronaldo should let his teammates take the ball more. I mean set pieces. Ronaldo is still not giving free-kicks and penalties to his teammates. But he can't use those opportunities well by himself either.  Sad

It is very sad that Portugal have to exit the Euro Cup after losing their match against France. cristiano ronaldo's last euro cup he will not play in the next euro among their fans, he will be greatly missed by all the fans. This was Cristiano Ronaldo's last Euro and Pepe's last Euro, two legendary players who will not be seen on the field of Euro Cup again.

France qualified for the semi-finals after defeating Portugal.  The match saw no goals despite plenty of attacking play but luckily France won the match on penalties. Although each player scored well in the penalty shootout, a missed goal by Portugal's Felix saw the team lose and have to retire. France successfully scored every goal to see them into the semi-finals of the Euros, Cristiano Ronaldo had to leave and Mbappe's side qualified for the semi-finals.

It good game played by both sides one tried to score a goal but failed both teams created almost equal chances but were not able to convert the chances into goals and this led to a penalty shootout to get a result from this game in penalties, a miss from Portugal cost them out from the tournament and End of Era of Pepe and Ronaldo. A heart heartbreaking for CR7 fans because they want them to finish his career on a high note. This is a game and at the end of the day, one is on the winning side while the other is on the losing side. Congrats to Team France for reaching into Semis and facing Spain.

the thing is telling too much on him and that's possibly the reason why he hasn't retired because he's still full of himself and is still trying to prove a point at the time he's supposed to have retired. Apart from the love we have for him due to his past performance at real Madrid and Manchester United, looking at his play at Al Nasir and even throughout this Euros, he's been all of himself and less of a team player. Was a bit devastated because they couldn't win in the penalty shootout but it didn't reflect that much because he didn't loose the penalty he took. If he had lost the penalty in this match you would have seen a strange kind of cry and reaction. It all goes to show that he's more of an individual player than a team player and you can't win a match and lead a team with that kind of mentality. That's also what affected thier attach cause he wasn't assisting the team to recover the balls when it was needed and the team has to pay hugely for it.

From all you said I agree with you and if you check the way someone like Morata was playing when he knew things became hard for him you'd know that he wasn't thinking of making a name for him self but he played like someone who wants same thing for the team. When Spain lost the ball you see Morata tracking back to get the ball, that's a sign of team spirit and the support he gave his teammates made their opponents to attack less but channel same thing to Portugal is completely different, football today is all about playing as a unit but when a player plays on his own the others seem to struggle, that's what killed the force of Portugal when they have Ronaldo on the team.

Quote
the most noble thing Ronaldo should have done would have been to retire before this Euros but since he's played and didn't make it more horrible than most people might have expected, it's best he leaves it this way. There is time for everything and he's certainly giving it his all at his prime. He played in all major tournaments and won trophies and the heart of fans globally and it's just time to sit back and watch rising stars to over from where he's left it. Football has changed and if you've looked at the players at Spain, most of them are young players that are energetic and are nearly approaching thier early 20ths. I wouldn't fancy the idea of Ronaldo playing in the 2026 FIFA world cup even if he's being called to do so but with what I'm seeing, his impact at Al Nasir might reduce next season and that will play a great role in determining if the coach will ever look at him as an option to consider.

Sometimes I ask if the coach is afraid of subbing him for another player, all these things that's happening I believe all Ronaldo fans will always have something to defend his attitude towards the team. He doesn't know when to give up, is good to have that kind of mentality but when age comes calling you just have to take a bow for the younger generation to take over that spotlight. If he is being called upon to represent Portugal at the World Cup I think it will be good for him to play for the national team one last time that's if he agrees to sit on the bench and come in by 80-85 mins, if he wants to always start then he should retire without playing for the country. When he plays for his club I still can't find that energy he feels he has to give to the game and from what I read is like he'll be ending his career at the Saudi league.

This match was very tough, both teams threatened each other's goal in order to get the winning goal, the score 1-1 lasted until the end of normal time, indicating that this match was full of tension. I don't really highlight the referee's performance in this match, because there were several moments that were detrimental to both sides, including Toni Kroos hard foul on Pedri. Customers like this should be given a red card because they can injure their opponent, but the referee did not give any card to Toni Kroos, Pedri had to be pulled off because he couldn't continue the match.

A big advantage for Spain after Pedri was pulled out and replaced with Dani Olmo, he became the hero of Spain's victory by scoring one goal and one assist in this match. Toni Kroos certainly regrets his actions because it was because of him that Dani Olmo got a playing slot and destroyed Germany's dream of appearing in the semifinals.

What you say is quite reasonable, the foul committed by Toni Kroos on Pedri instead became a way for Dani Olmo to shine in that match, where Dani Olmo was able to score 1 goal and make a good assist that ensured Spain's victory over Germany. Portugal defeat was also Pepe and Ronaldo's last match at the Euros. We will no longer see them at Euro 2028, a very sad ending for the world of football. There are many players who also have the same fate, Modric, Kross, Muller and Nueur will also no longer be on the pitch with the national team.
We might see some of them in Euro 2028, who knows?

They can participate in Euro 2028 as players or members of their national team in coach/ staff/ representative members. Some ex-players after retirements, become coaches or board members of their national teams.

Pepe actually kept up his last fire in the match with France and it's hard to believe that he is 40 years old and could play so seriously and excellently like this. Playing at this highest level and at this intensity, two consecutive matches with 120 minutes for each, and played very well. Pepe is actually a legend with his performances for Portugal in Euro 2024.
Yes, the last appearance from CR7 in the Euro and the end of an amazing era we witnessed in football what a player he is and what a journey he has its simply amazing Ronaldo is a pure class. CR7 also confirms that this is his last Euro Cup. Another living legend Pepe what a player he is and the way he stops the attacks of the French team is pure class in terms of clean defending against quality strikers.

It would be unfair to only blame Ronaldo for these failures because if you see the whole match (including their previous matches), it will be obvious that Ronaldo doesn't get many good passes from his teammates when he is in a good position to score.
