It is quite likely for us to see Manchester United defense getting better. Have you heard of the most recent transfers? They have signed Mazraoui and de Ligt. They are aiming to sign a defensive midfielder also.

These are good steps to take to fix defensive problems at a big rate. Europa League winner odds aren't determined yet. But I expect Manchester United to be one of the biggest favourites of course.  Smiley

It isn't unrealistic I think. It is all up to having a working system after making the right transfers. I hope ten Hag won't fail about that this time.

Yes indeed, Manchester United managed to bring in Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui and both also from Bayern Munich and also, in their first match in the Premier League yesterday also the two players were played and Manchester United also managed to win there. In addition, that Manchester United also still has Leny Yoro who is also a defender but unfortunately, Leny Yoro suffered an injury he suffered during the pre-season match.

With these players, then of course I also believe that Manchester United's defense will be better in this season. Thus also, Manchester United have players who have good quality for the main players and reserve players. So yes, it is hoped that Manchester United can maintain a good performance also with such players, will make the rotation of players carried out will also be able to provide good results for the team.
With the squad that has been successfully built, Ten Hag only needs to put together his ideal squad to face every challenge in every competition that is followed, with adequate rotation options it seems that Ten Hag job this season is a little easier. In addition, Ten Hag must also determine the scale of priorities going forward, adjusting to the targets he wants to achieve, which in my opinion the Europa League trophy is more realistic to pursue than the Premier League trophy. Of course it would be better if Ten Hag was able to bring Manchester United to appear stable in every competition, although we realize that it will not be easy to do.

If we look at the Europa League contestants this season, on paper Manchester United is undoubtedly one of the favorite teams. Indeed, there are several other teams that are also very worthy of being included in the favorite list, but their chances are lower than Manchester United. However, we have seen how the Europa League last season was full of surprises, the same thing might happen again. Apart from all that, Manchester United can be said to be quite lucky to win the FA Cup trophy, thus getting a ticket to the Europa League this season. In addition to the efforts to improve the squad that have been made, playing in the Europa League this season is something that Ten Hag current squad should be grateful for.

There are definitely flaws in their plans, Manchester United's defense is a little weak but those of us who understand football fairly well must say their midfield and attacking line-up is very strong yet they cannot do well with this team.

And you have to give it to Ajax: they won in the end. They kept calm when things got tough and did what they needed to do when it meant most. Thats what makes winners different from losers. Also, I can say that the Europa League is getting better. Because there are more top teams participating, there is more drama, excitement, and finishes that keep you on the edge of your seat.
Usually the team that concedes in the final minutes, while the goal scored against them makes them lose the victory that they should have achieved quickly, they will be mentally shaken. How could it not be, in their exhaustion they have to lose something that only has a few minutes left. It also makes them more tired because they have to continue the game for more than 90 minutes in normal time. Seeing that I thought maybe Ajax would lose, because logically Panathianaikos had the upper hand after scoring the goal. However, Ajax was able to maintain their mentality well, even though at first it was down, but they were able to recover quickly. Finally they won the match through a very long penalty shootout drama because they had to go through 2 rounds.

Manchester United did not perform badly in the warm-up match against Manchester City, it cannot be said how Manchester United will perform in the Europa League. There is a lot of difference between a warm-up match and a main stage match.

However, we have high expectations for Manchester United in this season of the European League. If this team performs as planned, they have the potential to do well.
Perform well in a single match and perform well through a long season is very different and with latest seasons, we have enough evidence that Manchester United failed to maintain their performances well throughout a long season. They had some great weeks or months but at the end of season, they failed to achieve their target at beginning of season.

Europa League has many matches, not only one match and Manchester United can be affected by their matches in Premier League too. They can not improve and only play like previous seasons, they actually lack of ability to win Europa League even Bayer Leverkusen will no longer be there.
How many goals a team wins against another team is not a big deal but how that team performed consistently. The lack of consistency between Manchester United saw them win one match and lose 5 matches. There are definitely flaws in their plans, Manchester United's defense is a little weak but those of us who understand football fairly well must say their midfield and attacking line-up is very strong yet they cannot do well with this team. If the manager is not able to plan and manage the team properly then the manager should be sacked and a new manager should be appointed because an incompetent manager should never be placed in a competent position.

I will blame the manager directly because Manchester United was not that bad but since the current manager of Manchester United took over the team has started to deteriorate. If the same thing happens from him next season, there is no point in relying on him.

Ten Hag? Worst coach in the universe? Damn right. This isn't hyperbole, it's cold, hard truth. He's got the tactical acumen of a goldfish, and his man-management skills are nonexistent. Unless Ten Hag pulls a rabbit out of his hat – and let's be honest, that hat's empty – this season's gonna be another train wreck. Europa League? Forget it. Premier League? Laughable. This isn't about new players, it's about a new philosophy, a new identity. And Ten Hag? He's the last guy to deliver that
I know Erick Ten Hag has not been really fantastic at Manchester United but the description of him you just gave if merely exaggerations, he's not as terrible as you just described him to be, even with the poor performance he's got something to show for in the past two seasons at Manchester United, remember he didn't meet the team any better tho I'm not making excuses for his poor performance which is believed that he was supposed to do better for Manchester United having stayed this long already. He's not as pathetic as such that will be likend to the worse coach in the universe, you sound like you have got some personal resentments around him, he's actually taking too long to produce the kind of results desired of him by the fans but then he can't be seen as this terrible just yet.

Erik ten Hag did not succeed in showing good concentration in maintaining his performance because in the first season he succeeded in bringing Manchester United through to the Champions League but in the second season he failed to do so. Apart from that, his performance in the Premier League is not as bad as people say because he has taken big steps for the team's progress. Yes, this season we will see his progress in the European league with the status of a team with big names and many quality players in the team. Will Erik succeed in bringing his team to the final of the European league.
I also don't see any extraordinary breakthroughs being made by the management in the transfer market this time because they are still having difficulty bringing in quality players even though they have enough fresh money if they want to overhaul the team.

This was definitely one of the most stressful games I have seen in a long long time. There has been over 15 penalty shots, and it ended with 13-12 result as well, that is just insane when you think about it, when was the last time you have seen 15+ penalties? I mean most often it ends within the first five usually but even if not, that goes to like maybe 7 or 8 at most and nothing more. Whereas we are looking at the current situation and can say that this was the highest I watched live as far as I can remember.

Ajax finally got it though, they really needed this win because it looks like they are still struggling to build that squad back up, they sold bunch of great players but then never rebuild it properly and this season might help them if they do fine here.

Yes of course it was essential, because I have never seen a match full of so many penalties. But it was a very good and experienced match where every player was ready to show his performance, who can shoot the penalty with full experience. This season has been the most record-breaking game we've seen, but I don't know if we'll ever see a match like this again in the future.

This match between Panathinaikos and Ajax was really exciting! Two teams were fighting hard and wouldnt give up. That kind of game makes you remember why we love this sport. After such a tough 90 minutes, things really got interesting when it came down to penalties. Mind games are just as important as physical ones, trust me. It was clear that both teams were worn out, but they had to keep their minds on those goals. Thats the real winning mindset.

This season has been the most record-breaking game we've seen, but I don't know if we'll ever see a match like this again in the future.
Things like that are still very possible to happen even though they are still very rare in a match because it is a very large number of penalties. I just hope that this season the Europa League will be a much more interesting League than last season because from several strong teams in the Europa League this season they will definitely try their best to stay until the end and try to become champions even though only one will be champion. But I just hope to see a much more interesting match than before in the Europa League.
I feel like last season was a very fun one and I think it ended up being a very important one and I think we should be considering that we are going to see this result without a doubt. I think it's clear that last years Leverkusen run and Atalanta run ended up with a great clash in the end and we should consider that we are going to make some good entertaining games and we can't really consider that to change anytime soon.

We couldn't really say that last season was something that we could consider that very bad, I understand that we can make some understanding that some good teams didn't do well and betting for that is something that may not be too fun and a lot of people lost a lot of money on betting at good teams and not getting the result they want, which is quite rare because big teams here usually do fine but recently they haven't been that great. I think that part was "boring" in the sense that we couldn't make that much profit, but it wasn't not entertaining.

It was a bad night for Trabzonspor. They were eliminated from the UEFA Europa League.
Trabzonspor played really bad tonight, I was expecting them to win but they lost 2-0 to Rapid Wien.
They now have to focus only on the Super League. I hope they learned a lesson from this.
Well That was one sided match and SK Rapid Wien team played very well and did two goals in this match. SK Rapid Wien did their all effort to win this match and that team was fully prepared but Trabzonspor was not fully prepared and all players af that team were overconfident and that's why that team lose the match due to bad performance. They should stop goals if they are good team but they could not successful in their aim. M. Seidl did fiist goal and made the match and he knew that they can win this match and we saw result in the side of SK Rapid Wien team. In the second half , Trabzonspor team should try to do gaol but they didn't try  this and result is in the front of us.

In fact, Trabzonspor had also lost the first leg when Trabzonspor played at home. As such, losing the second leg and playing away was no longer a surprise to me, because the reality was that Trabzonspor really weren't able to put up a good fight. At least to reduce the situation by making a score, but Trabzonspor also did not manage to do so so Trabzonspor was eliminated 3-0 on aggregate. In the next phase SK Rapid will meet Braga a team from Portugal and ofcourse, it will not be an easy opponent for SK Rapid.

But, if SK Rapid is able and managed to repeat its success when beating Trabzonspor like winning in the first leg,  then maybe SK Rapid will also have a chance to qualify. Because anyway, SK Rapid will also play away in the first leg later against Braga even though it is a difficult opponent, but I think the opportunity to get good results will certainly always be there if they can play well later.

34 penalties? That is a marathon, not a game! Both sides shown amazing mental toughness, and Ajax finally win. However, since they lost some important players, Ajax has changed. You cannot simply sell your stars and hope to keep winning. They must quickly acquire some really substantial talent in there.

Still, this victory might mark a change. Its a reminder that they still have the heart of a champion, so boosting confidence. They cannot, however, become lazy. Though in soccer anything can happen, Jagiellonia would appear like an easy win. Ajax must make every game a chance for rehabilitation and rediscovery of rhythm. They must tighten their defense and perhaps reconsider their entire approach. They will burn out before the season ever begins if they continue allowing games to go to penalties.

Photo: Ajax’s goalkeeper Remko Pasveer executed a stunning save during the penalty shootout against Panathinaikos, turning the tide of the match in a moment at Ajax's home.

It was definitely exciting and nerve wracking to see such a big penalty shootout. I think at the end both teams were mentally very tough and were fighting till the end with the hope that the opposition might slip. But at the very end, Ajax won  Smiley

What many people forgot is that Ajax was 1-0 ahead in the aggregate before the start of the 2nd leg and Panathinaikos scored at 89 minutes to level the aggregate at 1-1. The goal was scored by Tete. This is quite impressive which shows the mental fight they possess. They fought till the end and scored the goal at the end. To be honest, I did not think this game would go to extra time, let alone a 13-12 penalty.

Ajax is a club full of legacy but recently it has become a factory of producing promising young talents just to sell them to bigger clubs. I think getting out of this tradition will be very hard since they are not considered one of the big clubs of Europe anymore. It is sad to see such state of a club like Ajax who are full of legacy.

The way you talk about Erik Ten Hag is enough evidence to see that you do not understand football, you're just here to moan and cry. God knows I dislike how you talk about Erik Ten Hag. You talk like Manchester United was handed over to him from a great coach. This is pathetic coming from a Manchester United fan which I believe you're not.

Lol! It's laughable tagging him the worst manager in the universe. Your goddamn exaggerating man. Cut the bullshit! There's not atom of truth in whatever you're saying. And if you think you can do a better job than he has, why not take your CV to go land the job?

So negative about everything. I don't think you're a Manchester United fan. Qualifying for the Champions League football next season should be the sole aim and also winning another silverware. Erik Ten Hag is not a bad coach, only people with little or no knowledge of football would say such things about Erik Ten Hag.

It started with Panathinaikos being able to score a late goal in the 89th minute, so that the aggregate became 1-1 and the match had to go into extra time until a penalty shootout. It was a very interesting and tiring match for both clubs, because in the midst of their fatigue they had to play throughout the match they also had to prepare mentally to kick penalties. This is not easy, because penalties have a 50/50 chance and that too must have a very strong mentality. Ajax is still lucky in my opinion because they managed to win the match.

Both clubs played well in their match, it seemed that Panathinaikos did not want to lose just like that and at the same time Ajax also had problems with their concentration in the final minutes of the second half so they had to play longer even though they were finally able to win. Obviously an interesting match like this is what we always hope to watch, hopefully it will happen a lot in the Europa League this season.

Now we continue with playoffs... The first leg matches are scheduled to be played in 5 days:

Ajax - Panathinaikos was hell of a matchup surely.  Smiley  But we have also seen how weak Ajax still were. They don't look ready. Jagiellonia are much easier to beat and hopefully Ajax will have less issues this time.

Beşiktaş - Lugano. I remember this one from somewhere... Yeah, it was the Conference League groups. These two are playing against each other again after less than a year. I think Beşiktaş will push them down to the Conference League.

Ajax just had too much difficulty in eliminating Panathinaikos. They are still not ready for the new season at all. They are lucky about one thing though. Their next opponent in playoff round is going to be Jagiellonia which is easier to eliminate on paper.
I honestly didn't expect Ajax to have a hard time against Panathinaikos. After winning 1-0 in the first leg I thought it would be an easy game for Ajax. But unfortunately they lost 0-1 in the second leg making it 1-1 on aggregate and yes I have witnessed one of the longest penalty shootouts in football. 34 penalties and Ajax won 13-12. I agree with you that Ajax are not ready for the UEL this season. They struggled in the playoffs against teams they should have beaten easily. Their next game is against Jagiellonia Białystok, a club from the Polish division. On paper it should be an easy win for Ajax. But if the game ends 2-1 to Ajax then I think Ajax will have a hard time getting out of the group stage.

A deserving narrow escape victory for Ajax it was, it's been pretty a long while since I last Saw a game with such amount of penalty shootout to get them to be able to decide who the winner was going to be.. before the game commenced, I had believed so much in Ajax to win at the end of the first 90 minutes but how it extended this long got me wondering but at the end of the day, most importantly they win and got qualified which was basically all they needed at the end of the game.
Panathinaikos managed to put up fierce resistance which overwhelmed Ajax so they had to take the penalty route to determine the winner. The penalty shootout lasted for 25 minutes, it was very dramatic and a rare thing in football, Ajax and Panathinaikos both took 17 penalties in this deciding round and finally Ajax managed to qualify for the final round of the 2024/2025 Europa League qualification. Ajax secured victory after their goalkeeper Remko Pasveer blocked Panathinaikos last two penalty takers, Filip Mladenovic and Tonny Vilhena, he also became Ajax hero by thwarting five Panathinaikos penalty takers.
