The part I love the most is that the first 8 goes straight to last 16, but the other 16 teams will play with each other for the other 8 places. The teams finishing 9th to 24th will be playing against each other for a chance to be at the last 16 places. In theory that means even if you finish 24th in the groups, you can still be in the last 16, and that makes everything so much more fun.

I bet you that there will be at least one team that is out of top 16 in standings at the group stage who will go to last 16 round for sure, it will be a surprise but it will probably happen. The rest is basically the same, nothing much else changes at that part, the 8 games that teams will play is the newer thing during the group stages itself.

I'm worried again about my club Galatasaray's chance in the Europa League now. There is still something ambiguous that's why I feel that way.

We haven't signed a left winger and a midfielder before the deadline for squad registration of the EL. Now we won't be able to register anyone until the end of league phase. I'm really happy with Osimhen signing on the other hand. My only worry is whether he will be assisted well meanwhile. I'm hopeful about Mertens for that job.  Roll Eyes  Old teammates are reunited here again!

I wish we didn't sell Kerem Aktürkoğlu to Benfica. But he wanted to take this opportunity. He could have also made lots of assists to Osimhen just as he did to Icardi until now.
I hear you. Galatasaray's lineup has some question marks. There isn't any specialised left winger? Midfield depth a little shaky? Certainly, that is less than perfect. But Osimhen is a game-changer. And he once more linking with Mertens? That's chemistry you can't buy. Mertens is flexible even if he has been playing left wing lately. If necessary, he can close the gap

Losing Aktürkoğlu stings, no doubt. Let us, then, concentrate on what they DO have. Mertens and Ziyech on the wings? That's creativity and width. Osimhen arrived top? That is a menace that will keep defences alert late at night. And should the coach get hot with a two-striker arrangement? Watch out. Look; the squad is not flawless. Still, it's about best utilising your resources. And Galatasaray's has a real chance to create some noise with Osimhen spearheading the assault. Believe that

Dries Mertens will play as a left winger, Hakim Ziyech plays as a right winger. I think Galatasaray coach will use this duo players for the wingers. But it will be quite confusing if one of this players got injured. There is no more option for a left winger if Mertens injured. Well, I can understand that Galatasaray has too many right wingers, they have no pure left winger.

However, it is good that Galatasaray signs Osimhen. It is a food addition player for Galatasaray. With 4 strikers in the squad, I think Galatasaray coach may use an option to play with 2 strikers.

Mertens should never play as a LW. Because he can't run, he has got really old (37). He should be used as a second striker or midfielder. If Okan Buruk changes the formation to 3-5-2, we would see him in the middle. If we see a formation like 3-4-1-2 then he can play as a CAM. I would rather seeing the latter as it is closer to his natural position.  Smiley

I think they can do like this: Barış Alper on the left and Ziyech on the right. Because Barış Alper is right-footed while Ziyech is left-footed. In this way they can easily shoot when there is opportunity too.

It is quite unfortunate that Kerem Aktürkoğlu moves to Benfica. He is the only left winger of Galatasaray. I don't understand why he prefers to leave, is about the amount of salary? He has no problem with his position, he is in the main lineup. He has a regular place as a left winger, and he always becomes a part of starting lineup in every match. Does he has a problem with Galatasaray board, coach, or the players?

I agree. There was just no plan by Galatasaray board. They left all the necessary transfers to the last moment and this happened.  Sad  A LW and and a midfielder signing was urgent. Now even if they sign players for these positions, they won't be able to register in the Europa League until league phase ends.

Galatasaray would be using two strikers (Icardi & Osimhen). Martens probably assisted them from behind.

I'm not even feeling worried about Galatasaray's line-up now. And they don't really need to sign a new midfielder, they have Sara and Torreira who would be playing at mid. yet I can't deny they need to sign new wingers.

About Kerem Aktürkoğlu, sadly, he has agreed to a 4-year deal with Benfica. He was not keen on missing the momentum to improve his career. But it's also Galatasaray's fault; this was because they are trading him for a year's wage of a player(Osimhen). that is insane.

With Mertens and Ziyech at left and right wings, Osimhen in the center will receive good key passes, cross basses and assists from his team mates in this season. Mertens used to be a main scorer for Napoli some seasons ago and even he is older, he has great skills to score goals. Ziyech is younger than Mertens and he will support Osimhen better as with less injuries, more appearances, he will have more chance to play with Osimhen in Galatasaray.

Mertens with his old age, has bigger risk from injuries and might miss many matches for Galatasaray in this season. It limits his chance to play together with Ziyech and Osimhen and possible appearances for Gatalatasaray as well.

Osimhen with this transfer to Galatasaray actually made a big mistake and it starts a downside of his career. He will need to find a better club after the end of this season, possible destination can be La Liga or Premier League if he wants to play at highest level.

Anyway, back to Chelsea: they lost their first game against Manchester City 2-0, which is fine as losing against City is not a shame. Then they had a hard time against Servette Genf while beating the Wolverhampton Wanderers 6-2 away from home, only to then tie a game against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. It isn't quite what I think is the big turning point here. They really need some sort of winning streak, like four or five games in a row winning full points. They have all these weird up and downs and nobody understands why that is. How is it possible that they beat the Wolves 6-2 and then can't beat Crystal Palace? It's just weird.

In that regard I can't say much, because you're right, getting a good run in the PL and in these conditions that are so alarming for the team is not something that can be achieved just like that. I think it's better that Chelsea has to correct their formation , for me they have to use another One , maybe focus on a better attack, the attack is what in the end defines a game, because the one who scores the goals is the one who wins, so for me what Chelsea lacks, roughly speaking, is more attack, of course that's what I can see. I don't know if there are Internal problems or Something , because Having those Players they Shouldn't lose so much.

Oh and a controversy:

Conor Gallagher: Enzo Maresca is wrong – I am technically good enough to play for Chelsea

Quote
Mauricio Pochettino wanted him and made him captain. Diego Simeone definitely wanted him and spent £33.7 million to bring him to Atlético Madrid. And yet the word at Chelsea was that Conor Gallagher was apparently not technically good enough to fit into the style of play demanded by their new head coach, Enzo Maresca.

“I don’t think that’s true, personally,” the midfielder says of that harsh perception. “I think last season I had a good season with Chelsea and you could see by Pochettino playing me every game and showing his trust in me. And the fans appreciated what I did on the pitch. I’m very grateful for all of that and very thankful to the fans, and very thankful to Pochettino for giving me that platform to go and express myself and show the best version of myself at Chelsea.”

It is clearly a difficult conversation for Gallagher who does not want to say — despite Chelsea’s protestations otherwise – what everyone knows: that he was effectively pushed out of the club he loved, the club the 24-year-old joined at the age of six, to help balance the books.

While other young players, brought in by Chelsea’s ownership, were being offered multi-year deals — seven, eight, nine years — there was a much shorter contract on the table for Gallagher. The writing was on the wall. They wanted him to go. He had to go.

He is the most expensive player in the Super League with his current market value. He has a market value of 100 million Euros. Sofyan Amrabat, who is in second place, has a value of 22 million Euros. I think the difference is enough to explain why the fans are excited. He is an incredible talent. The fact that this talent will play in Turkey also scares his opponents. He has rebuilt the Galatasaray team. They want a successful European career like last year. In other words, last year's final was not very good, but I think they were very successful in the groups in the Champions League.

Oshimen's market value has been negotiated to the tune of $75m. Imo, he wants to leave Napoli by all means but his move is blocked by Napoli because they're requesting an insanely high market value for Oshimen (over $130m) and that was what delayed his rumored move because no team wants to buy a player that costs that much. That used to be 3-5 years ago. That said, I think his move to Galatasaray is a smart one for him since it affords him to getaway from Napoli.

He's a great addition to Galatasaray team but do I see them going very far in the UCL? Of course not.

I am also worried because what you said is true. No players were bought to replace the players sold or loaned, this is a huge disadvantage for us.
We bought a very high quality striker, but who will be the player who will pass the ball to this guy?
We have a deficiency on the right and left wings, it doesn't seem like it will happen with the current players.
I hope they buy one or two more players for the league squad, if they don't, then serious problems will start to arise.

I watched some of Manchester United's previous games and I saw they still have the same problem in defense. In the game against Brighton they seemed to leave space in defense for Brighton players to expose. And Liverpool really made a mess of their defense. I can't say it's all Ten Hag's fault but I think a manager should take responsibility for his club's performance. Just like United's success in winning the FA Cup which Ten Hag was praised for. If United play like this I doubt they will make it to the quarter finals or semi finals of the European Cup.
Defense is a very key issue Manchester United is suffering and to worsen the situation they sold of one of their best defenders recently and now they will have to suffer defensive challenges almost all through their season. Maguire is doing his best but isn't sufficient enough to help Manchester United not to suffer certain defensive flaws, ten hag still has his sentimental reservation such that he may not mind how good a player is , provided it wasn't his idea that player is in Manchester United and he seems not to get along with the player, he's going to make moves so he be sold off or probably lesser playing time even at the detriment of the team so at some point I begin to see him as Manchester United greatest problem.

You will only be matched with each team once in the Europa League. This shows that if you are taken to a surprise place, you will not be able to make up for it. Manchester United is one of the favorites in the Europa League. If they use this favorite status well and win their matches, they will be a little more comfortable in the future. However, if they cannot continue this performance, they will be disappointed in the Europa League. After what happened in the Champions League last year, I think Erik Ten Hag will give more importance to the Europa League this year.
We are total have 36 teams with 8 will go into round of 16 and 16 will be gone into qualifications for round of 16 which is interesting 12 teams will be faced elimination from the first round mean things are pretty clear we will have top teams into last 8 because big teams can do better with their available sources and squad strength and weaker sides which are mostly coming from small leagues will be suffered, but they will have good chance of have the good number of matches.

Manchester United is always had good tag in European competitions as bookies give trap odds for them, but things are surely not predictable can they go through for the better run, or we will have another early elimination for them because few teams are preparing good as they want to have better things in coming days.

In the past three days, the sports media gave been congested with news concerning Victor Osimhen's loan move to Galatasaray and while many of us are staying our different opinions/takes about the deal, I'm more interested in what effect his arrival might bring to the club. Galatasaray if we remember will be playing in the UEFA Europa League competition when it returns later this month but with the arrival of Victor Osimhen to the Turkish club, do you think there chances of winning the Europa League trophy have significantly improved or not?
A difficult question to answer now, because we have to see the game first and not just look at the name being discussed today. But for now if we look at Osimhen's ability, then I would say that it might have a positive impact on Galatasaray, but to say they will be able to become champions in the Europa League or not is still too early to talk about that. Now we have to see first how they play, the adaptation process that Osimhen will go through must also be given a chance, because there are players who can adapt quickly, some take longer or even some fail. At least Galatasaray showed their seriousness to compete, one of which was by bringing in one of the players who has been much talked about in the last few seasons, especially after bringing Napoli to become champions.

With United's performance, I'm a little bit sure this season might be Ten Hag's last season as United coach. or maybe sooner.
in the Europa League, it won't be easy for United. they do have a big name with amazing fans. but looking at United's current team performance, their fans are also unsatisfied.

United will face teams like Porto and Rangers in this first phase. they can still be strong candidates to qualify for the next phase. but to become champions, they need a big change in their current game.
As media reports are coming we have good confidence from the management and Eric Ten Hag is also positive about future of club in this season despite having terrible start now their schedule in Europa Cup is also not easy, and they are also having usually injuries issue on cards even I am also sure he is going to have last season here in this club.

But this is still wired thing why management is having too much confidence on this theory which is bringing nothing positive and club is going down day by day now with their matches in Europa Cup is also not easy things will be more tense even they are having too many quality players with good potential to bring things out of this trouble.

After break in just few weeks they are going to have few challenging matches which will give better view about the future of the coach because things can go on either side.

But the main thing here is that Manchester United have to perform well and prove that they are a good team on the field. If they can play well, they will definitely have a great chance of winning the Europa League title.
Most important thing is not about performing well but Ten Hag must really maintain the physical condition of Man United players to avoid any more injuries. Last season MU had a bad time with many players injured and this season new players who are relied on such as Leny Yoro are injured and several other important players are also injured. So if Ten Hag can be more professional in managing MU, I am sure there is still a big chance to get the UEL title this season. The problem of the defense line must also be considered to form a strong defense.
Before entering the field, every player is given such instructions so that they do not get injured. But injury is undesired, it can happen to you suddenly and no one wants to injure you on purpose and you don't want to injure yourself on purpose. Many important players of Manchester United were injured last season due to which we did not see regular performance from this team last season. But if you only blame the injury, here the manager should be equally responsible. Ten Hag have been misguided almost every season which has seen the team improve in one position and make another position worse.

First, they should plan their defense well. Manchester United score goals in every match but when the opposition attack they cannot counter the attack and this is where they fall behind. They have a chance to do well in the Europa League this season and if they can perform well and defend themselves then the title could be in their hands at the end of the season.

It's not necessary to blame Ten Hag entirely, but for now Manchester United still need to improve all lines better and that includes the defense line as you said, because if the defense line is not improved, of course it will also bother the lower players and they will be more likely to concede goals from any opponent. And for the Europa League this season there will also be fiercer competition so Manchester United must be able to change their playing style before they continue to lose to every opponent they will face this season later.

I guess we are back in the game!  Grin  Signing a world star player like Osimhen isn't more than a dream for most teams in the world. But Galatasaray monitored the situation closely and acted quick before any other team.

Victor Osimhen moving to Galatasaray on loan is the best decision since it looks like he's no longer comfortable at Napoli so it's a good achievement to Galatasaray for having such a great talent in their squad for now so a lot is expected from him even though his mind may not really be settled at Galatasaray since he is just their on loan terms. The loan deal really came as a surprise just in the die minutes of the transfer window because literally, Galatasaray wasn't even in the picture of clubs that wanted the Nigerian striker in their squad but just all of a sudden it happened, perhaps that was the reason why Galatasaray fans where overexcited with joy when they saw Victor Osimhen.

Brilliant move by Osimhen to Galatasaray. Brilliant. Now Galatasaray has a world-class striker without breaking the bank. Believe me, getting a player of Osimhen's on loan is a steal. He's worth 100 million euros. He's head and shoulders above anyone else in the Super Lig. This is about his impact on the squad, not just goals. Fans and players are excited. With his star power, Osimhen elevates others.

This season, Galatasaray has big domestic and European goals. They have a chance with Osimhen leading the way. He can change the game alone. Congratulations to Galatasaray for this smart move. As for Napoli, they may regret this. Bigly. In football, talent is everything, and Osimhen has plenty.

I doubt Manchester United ability to be the team at the forefront of the UEL title race this season, after seeing how Manchester United started the season in the EPL, it is very unlikely that Manchester United will go further. The Europa League is full of surprises, the performance shown by MU in the last three matches in the EPL shows no signs of improvement at all. Consistent performance is needed to stay in the Europa League but Ten Hag has not been able to put together his squad well, weaknesses are still visible in the midfield and back lines. Now Ten Hag is in a less advantageous position, on the one hand he has not found the best strategy in his team, while on the other hand, he is required to win the UEL trophy this season.

This ain't on the players alone. It's on Ten Hag. He's got no system, no identity. They're playing like a bunch of headless chickens
Europa League? Forget about it. Porto, Rangers - they'll eat United alive

I don't think Manchester United can win the Europa League, in fact from their performance so far they can't even reach the semi-final stage, how can a team that has many talented players still not defeat or play well against their opponents, Manchester united's problem is the coach and if they did not send the coach away the team will not even end up even in the top 10 this season, I can even bet that Manchester United will not make a top four in the league table this season because of the coach 5th that they have.

I have never heard where a coach say that the team doesn't want to win the league title this season all the team wants is to end in the top four of the league, I'm not a Manchester United fan but I'm disappointed to hear a team I support saying that they don't want to win the league title this season, that show that Manchester united will never win a league title in five year's coming because this thing the team is not ready to win a trophy and even the Europa League they will not win it this season.
