Unfortunately, I ended up losing my bet. In the Burns vs. Brady fight, age really was a big factor, even bigger than I imagined because I expected a completely different Burns, and it ended up giving the victory to Brady. But it's always good to see a fight like this.

It sounds like UFC Vegas 97 was packed with excitement! Alex Pereira's leg kicks are truly something else, and seeing the power measured must have been impressive. As for the fights, it seems like the favorites really delivered. Cody Durden’s submission win and Matt Schnell’s silent retirement after his third consecutive loss certainly added an emotional layer to the night. The last three bouts were all significant, with Sean Brady’s victory over Gilbert Burns and Natalia Silva’s win positioning her as a rising contender. Silva aiming for a title shot after Alexa Grasso’s defense is an interesting storyline to follow. Exciting times in the UFC!

Damn! I really thought Gilbert Burns could win that match.
Then, Jessica Andrade on the co-main event. 2 losses for me.

After this win, Natalia Silva believes shes ready for a title shot and understands Alexa Grasso will be defending her title on September 14 at The Sphere against Valentina Shevchenko.
Very nice. Title shot. I am going for Alexa Grasso on that match and I think it is time to put an end to that trilogy. But do imagine if Shevchenko wins, will they go for the 4th match? Cheesy I don't think fans will like that anymore.

The shocker of the night was how this one was won by a nasty elbow:
Chris Padilla defeats Rongzhu by TKO in Round two but it was a doctor stoppage.
Oh yeah, that was one nasty elbow and Chris said in the post-fight interview that he felt the eye of Rong Zhu. Just thinking about it gives me the goosebumps.
Rong Zhu was then rushed to the hospital after the fight and I hope he will be okay and we will see him back on the octagon.

There is a video of Alex Pereira throwing leg kicks and showing just how powerful they are. There was one shot of the result from the meter which measures how much power they produce.

Last nights Fight night was a good show and in the last three bouts all the favorites won so it was a good one if you chose to place bets on this Vegas 97.
One notiable one was Cody Durden defeating Matt Schnell by submission. After suffering his third defeat in a row Schnell decided to lay his gloves in the octagon after the fight and walk out without a word. So from the looks of it he retired unannounced.
Here are the three last bouts of this cards results:
Sean Brady defeats Gilbert Burns
Natalia Silva defeats Jessica Andrade
Steve Garcia defeats Kyle Nelson

After this win, Natalia Silva believes shes ready for a title shot and understands Alexa Grasso will be defending her title on September 14 at The Sphere against Valentina Shevchenko.

Hmm. So Alex Pereira is really going to accept it. I hope he won't have a hard time cutting weight. I mean, for me the best place for him is where he is at not and he will probably dominate it for a long time which means more title defense.
But we will see, I would also like to see him fight against DDP because I don't like what's coming out of the mouth of that dude. He will definitely feel Alex's big fist.

That UFC 306 is full-packed. The last time I watched Grasso I also won a good amount of money. I think I am still going to bet for here if the odds are right. I am still excited to watch those two ladies even though it's their 3rd meeting.

What I want to see most is him fighting and winning in every category he's in. His fighting is great to watch, but I always feel like when he loses weight everything gets harder. He seems to do well in higher weight categories.

I do believe that too.
I think I have said many times in this thread about him taking the higher-weight classes because his body is meant to be for that. I don't know if his coaching staff learned that one too but as soon as he lost against Adesanya, he took the higher weight and now he is a champion.

Now, he is trying to go below his weight class again and I am not sure if he can win it or not and weight class may actually give him some problems. I'd rather see him in the heavyweight division against Bones Jones than go after DDP but it seems the provocation got to his nerve.  Cheesy

It makes sense. He should stay overweight. He hasn't lost weight since. But he insists on working things out with Adesanya. But he tends to stay at the heavyweight division and be the biggest of them all.

Pereira will not last in the HW also, he knows Jones is not fighting someone aside from Stipe so he is bound to fight the monstrous Aspinall while Dana is not able to tell Aspinall to not wrestle Pereira, Pereira is going to lose in the HW.

But going back to MW will extend his UFC career for maybe until he is 42. If he loses against DDP, he can have a rematch with Adesanya which I guess is the main purpose of this downgrade  Grin  Adesanya vs Pereira 3 is a businesswise decision not just for Dana but for the 3.

Talking about the UFC fight night thats happening today, it looks like Sean Brady's the favorite in this main event bout against Gilbert Burns.
Here is the link to their match-up:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/mma/ufc/ufc/gilbert-burns-vs-sean-brady-66bc9d2bf2305300013cb960

Brady is @1.52x while Burns is @2.48x
I think during Gilbert's last fight he took so much damage against JDM. So this could be why the odds are so drastically in Sean Brady's favor.

Jessica Andrade vs. Natalia Silva in the co-main event is the other interesting one where I can see Natalia taking the win.

They both fought Belal Muhammed and got beat by him so yeah it should be a good main event fight!

Here is the upcoming fight cards for the next couple of months including UFC Noche at the sphere!

The next big one we will all be waiting in anticipation for after this UFC Fight Night 242/UFC Vegas 97 with Gilbert Burns versus Sean Brady.

There was also something about Alex Pereira going back to middleweight talked about during the MMAfightingSBN podcast earlier today:

Same here as Brady is on a good winning streak before losing to Belal while Burns does seem tired for some reason which might be due to his age. Because in his last loss it was a well fought bout but he seemed to gas out near the end from what I recall.
Will also need to rewatch some of his matches this weekend along with Vegas 96 which we had back on August 25.

If I'm not mistaken, in the last fight he ended up fracturing his arm or something like that. I just remember that it was something with his arm that ended up putting him on the defensive and that's why he didn't perform well. But even with this age impediment, I'm still going to bet on him.

UFC Fight Night was not that much fun so I am guessing the next one should be.

UFC Fight Night: Burns vs. Brady

https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/events/114678-ufc-fight-night

Main Event:
Gilbert Burns  vs.  Sean Brady
Co-Main Event:
J. Andrade  vs.  Natália Silva
Main Card:
Kyle Nelson  vs.  Steve Garcia
Matt Schnell  vs.  A. Costa
Trevor Peek  vs.  Yanal Ashmouz
Rongzhu  vs.  Chris Padilla
Preliminaries:
O. St. Preux  vs.  Ryan Spann
I. Dulgarian  vs.  B. Marotte
André Lima  vs.  F. dos Santos
Gabriel Santos  vs.  Yizha
J. Amorim  vs.  V. Demopoulos
Andre Petroski  vs.  Dylan Budka
Z. Ramaska  vs.  N. Fletcher

I am a fan of Gilbert Burns even though recently he lost twice against Belal and Maddalena. That Masvidal win is what proves he is a strong fighter and I doubt he could easily be defeated with his tough chin and strong offensive power in his fist. Now, he is up against Brady who also lost against Belal and I think both fighters win will tell who is the formidable one.
I am taking Gilbert's side in this fight.
The last fight at the Apex was actually really good. Enough so I am going to rewatch those fights before this weekend's begins just to get into the mood of staying up to see this fight night due to the labor day weekend break we just had.

I really believe Burns will win. However, his age is making me wary! I see Burns' stats as superior to Sean Brady's, but age ends up being a very important factor that can change the game. Does anyone have a different opinion?

Mcgregor fight might be coming very soon as dana as teased news about him, Oliveira and chandler

https://www.mmafighting.com/2024/8/29/24231303/dana-white-teases-conor-mcgregor-news-mcgregor-responds

Mcgregor also did his part by putting a wink emoji on X  Wink

Who do you guys think he will fight next?

So the drunkard is coming back to the ring? I don't expect much to be honest. He's burned out, like Ferguson. Some people should retire. I know he has his fan base, but IMO he's done.
He used to be great in 2013 when he defeated Holloway and later in his fights vs Diaz, but after Khabib and Poirier he's given up.
I'd rather see Oliveira beat the shit out of Du Plesis, or at least I hope the fight will end up this way.

Chandler seems to be hopeful still getting the fight.  It wasted Chandler's prime years since. Idk what he did but it seems he doesn't have Dana privileges too. No fight, no money as well. Conor can just sniff all he wants and could still survive since he has millions.

Charles is 2 weight class apart from DDP. And DDP is not going to be moving from this class any time. Charles only needs a fight to win and he gets a rematch to Tsarukyan when he's back.

McGregor fight won't happen atleast this year. There is just too much back and forth between the two sides you don't know who is telling the truth and Dana White denies everything to do with this fight that at this point he just has to say it is cancelled indefinitely.
So how I view this is that negotiations for something to transpire is still ongoing and best not to even start talking about him fighting until he is at a venue and is in the octagon. Because even in the parking lot he can just decide he does not want to fight anymore and just turn back and leave the building.

As for Volk and Do Bronx, I am not very exciting to see these two fight to be honest. Volkanovski after that loss to Topuria has not been the same and it showed during the post interview right after the fight.
He is a broken man now and is on a long road to recovery. So any talk of him fighting this year too shouldn't be taking seriously. Because the way he was talking like he was looking to retire. So he would need more time than a year to get his life back ontrack before looking for the next fight.

Also notice this on socials at the beginning of the month but didn't want to say anything but since we are in the middle of a long two week break from the UFC. What else is there really to talk about?

Muhammad Mokaev wants to fight for free just to get back in the UFC after getting rejected by the PFL:
https://www.thesportster.com/muhammad-mokaev-offers-ufc-to-fight-for-free-after-pfl-snub

He voiced about it on his tiktok when this request was released back at the end of last month:
https://www.tiktok.com/@shredderbailey/video/7399015507870911750

Dana White would love this if he didn't need to pay any of his fighters. Wink

I saw a news story on x that talked about Charles vs Volka. Has it been made official yet? I haven't seen anything, but Charles has already posted that he is in negotiations about his next fight. I hope it's soon.

Can't find the thread on X but found Dana talking he got something for the two. Volk going up and then fighting someone way fit than him is suicide. He could just pick someone like Chandler in the LW. Volk coming up from 2 terrible losses can become worse after the 3rd worse loss. Charles is not as easy as he thought.

Chandler also should forget about Conor fight. Not gonna happen anymore. Conor knows the simulation if he loses against Chandler and while thinking about it, he does have money which he doesn't need to fight.

I believe that a third defeat would only motivate Volk. He has lost twice in a row and as he himself has said, that is all he knows how to do and cannot stand anything else. So, in a possible defeat he would only try harder and harder, it is not so easy to take him down like that.
