However, there are no 'stakes' coming through anymore, well, not for past three days. I usually get a few each day at least. Should I be getting them, or is it related to technical issue?

Let's hope that 'stake minting' will start to work from block #1,600,000

By the way, utc14.yacoin.club pool wallet has been successfully upgraded.
And less than 2000 blocks remain to the 'fork point'...

Also, what does the change to NF14 mean in laymans term? What are my miners doing differently?

Your miners need to use 4 times less memory at NF14 than they have used at NF16.

If roughly estimate [CPU] vs [GPU with 4GB VRAM]

Code:
NFactor | GPU advantage
-----------------------
NF17 | 1x  gpu has no advantage
NF16 | 2x
..
NF14 | 10x gpu 10 times faster

then we can clearly see that Ultracoin NF14 becomes GPU-coin.

From one side (negative) - it has no sense to mine Ultracoin with CPU now
From other side (positive) - Ultracoin will be more secure as GPU-miners stands well against botnets.

Thanks for that folks, it has indeed caught up eventually!

That is the correct version.

If you had your miner set up for nf14 already the settings will not change.  If you need settings still, try searching the forums here for configs for your particular hardware.  Between our forum history and yacoin's you should be able to find something from when we were nf14 previously.

Hi folks,

Fingers crossed you have sussed this issue out now... Smiley

Could I just check, I have tried doing the upgrade. If my qt is showing this, has the upgrade succeeded:
v0.7.4.1-g-9-g23ef1a4-beta

Cheers,

Roister01

Also, what settings will I have to put into my miner to make it work again?

The Mac wallet is up now too. http://ultracoin.net/dl/UltraCoin-Qt.v7.4.1-9.dmg

Use md5 on the dmg file from a terminal shell and ensure the output looks like the line below.

Code:
$ md5 UltraCoin-Qt.v7.4.1-9.dmg
 (UltraCoin-Qt.v7.4.1-9.dmg) = bfc7dfdf30c726697bb140dce92ad999

It's not signed; you'll have to install with the Ctrl key down.

Again, follow the normal procedure for upgrading your wallet.  Either use the Backup Wallet feature or stop the wallet and manually copy the wallet.dat file.  It will be at Library/Application Support/UltraCoin/wallet.dat, within your Finder.  And then mount the dmg file and while holding the Ctrl key, right click and select Open.

If your datafiles are considered corrupted by the new wallet will not start up you may have to delete everything EXCEPT for your wallet.dat file in that directory.  As a side note, the UltraCoin data files are compatible between Windows and Mac since they both use Berkeley Database 4.8.30

the new wallet seems to sync ok - but it does take a long time because the new blocks are being added to the blockchain every 2-3 seconds.

basically I could only sync slightly faster than new blocks were mined - took several hours to catch up a wallet 2 days behind on sync.

If the wallet drops your connections for 30 seconds - you get way behind and have to catch up again.

you are chasing a roadrunner on steroids trying to sync

This issue will disappear after the fork because the blocktime will revert to normal (60 seconds I think - instead of 2-3 seconds right now till block 1,600.000).

It just says catching up...
Downloaded 1548343 blocks of transaction history. Last received block was generated 22 hours ago.

It has been like this for ages tho!

Thanks a lot Stephen,
Since the update though, my wallet won't synchronise. I have tried restarting computer to see if that would help, but no luck. Is it anything obvious, if not, what should I do?

Looks like a successful update from here, and your mining settings can remain the same.

the new blocks coming at every 2-3 seconds make syncing like running after a faster moving target.

New blocks are generated about the same speed as the sync

There are about 430k new UTC being generated a day for the last 3 days - and seems for a day longer to get to block 1,600,000

Thats going to be over a million new UTC above what should have been mined.

Happy Xmas miners - enjoy your bonus

Action Required - Blockchain Fork

Due to an error in the compilation of the latest wallet update, the Ultracoin difficulty retargetting algorithm has caused the difficulty to remain extremely low, this has caused a spike in the block generation rate. In order to correct this anomaly, a fork in the blockchain is required. Please download the following Windows wallet at the link posted below, Macintosh and Linux wallets are in development for release. The fork is set to initiate in 24 hours from now at block 1,600,000 around late afternoon or early evening EST on Tuesday, November 10th, 2015. The exchanges and pools have been notified. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail Steven at [email protected].

@Steven and Kracko....

> Please give us good information about the steps in the procedure to download the new release, this for all the beginners and noobs as me !

Go ahead and open your File Explorer.
Type in %appdata% in your header bar and click on Ultracoin.
Copy the wallet.dat and back it up in a separate file directory, such as your Desktop.
Download and run the new Ultracoin wallet software.
Once completed, you shouldn't have to redownload the new blockchain unless it is past block 1.6MM.
If it is after block 1.6MM, you must go back to the %appdata% folder, click on the Ultracoin folder, and delete everything in it EXCEPT your wallet.dat.
Run the latest version of the Ultracoin wallet software.
At this point you will redownload the entire blockchain and be on the latest chain.

The latest wallet revision source is published at https://github.com/Kracko/ultracoin-2.git.  Pool operators and exchanges please update your wallets.  A fork is scheduled at block 1,600,000, which should be sometime tomorrow, early afternoon or evening.

The Windows wallet is up http://ultracoin.net/dl/UltraCoinQT_win32_v7.4.1-9.zip.  You may want to update before the fork happens as you will most likely need to redownload the whole chain if you don't.

The mac wallet will be out later today.

1500-2500 kh/s network rate, where's that coming from? i have 4 gtx 970 and i have 33kh/s!
i want to learn to program fpga's, shouldn't be too different than coding my old Commodore 128 ASM Cheesy

Wow, that's over 8kh/s per card!

Yeah, 970's are really efficient for scrypt-jane due to their 4gb mem size, i got around 1100 h/s on NF16.
I can't make them use all of it on NF14, if i try to raise the amount of threads to make use of the rest of the mem it starts dropping performance.
May be there's someone who has a better config.

Best regards!

There was a bug in the wallet that was created during the compiling process, the wallet version that was tested had a few fields that were slightly tweaked compared to the wallet version that was released. It is unfortunately going to require another fork. The exchanges have already been notified, expect a new release within the next few hours, the fork will occur tomorrow night. Please update as soon as the new wallet is released. The update will also be blasted out on all social media channels and the mailing list, I ask everyone to stay posted for the fork. In the meantime mining is still functional although the block rate is much higher than usual and the amount of orphans will be astronomically high.

@Steven

Guys, if you are going to release new fork, please, set new fork point (block height) 24 hours ahead to the future. For example, 1600000 or greater.
So that everyone has enough time for wallet update.
