Do you think that 2017 was the "Golden Year of Crypto"? Or is the best is yet to come? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Smiley

Imho, it was really just a great year for Cryptocurrency and the number of users that was introduced to Cryptocurrency that year was just through the roof. There were a lot of people who really started learning about Cryptocurrencies because it was introduced to them as something that would help them with their financial problems which is true. 2017 was also the year that I was introduced to Cryptocurrencies and I was just surprised that the thing that I was ignoring was something that is going to help me now with the pandemic occurring so I guess we can call it that but I really think that the Golden Year of Cryptocurrencies was when it became mainstream or even become accepted into a lot of establishments.

With what we see with Bitcoin price presently, the golden year is yet to come. I'm sure the golden time still lies ahead. Many people are already predicting that the price will keep blossoming until the 1st quarter of 2021.

Yes,i still believe 2017 was the golden year of crypto. I have no doubt about it.2017 was the most successful year of crypto that because of most of project are successful and the project members are developing their project. So,the year of 2017 was the golden year of crypto.

For now, I can say that 2017 is really the Golden year of Crypto. It is the year where most ICO projects became succesful and being listed on big exchanges. It is also the year where airdrops and bounty programs are really worth it to join with and Btc hit 20k usd for the first time in that year.

2021 will also be a golden year for cryptocurrencies, I understand everyone is still wondering,
will 2021 be the altcoin season? The answer will probably be seen at the beginning of this year,
if bitcoin dominance tries to fall, then this is the beginning, if it is still on top 70% then the altcoins will still be on the sideways.

2017 began as a bullish year for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on the market. I remember when BTC went from $1k to almost $20k in just 2017 alone. That's a massive price increase never before seen in the history of crypto. During that time, new projects started to rise with ambitions to make our world a better place. ICOs where a big hit, followed by Bitcoin-based forks like Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold. Many who invested prior to the bull market of 2017, have made exponential gains in a short amount of time. It was crypto's best moment as it went into the mainstream so quickly.

Once 2018 started, prices for major cryptocurrencies went all the way down the drain. Governments imposed heavy-handed regulations against ICOs, reducing the demand for ETH and its tokens on the market. At the same time, some countries banned crypto from being used by their citizens. Many negative events happened in 2018, which stifled crypto's growth in the mainstream world. Then came 2019 that was almost the same as 2018, and now it's 2020 where people are starting to buy crypto once more because of the negative effects of COVID-19 on the mainstream economy. Yet, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are still behind their latest ATH  (All-Time-High) in price. With BTC's Third Halving , prices should've been within the $15k range by now. Still, crypto is not the same as it used to be back in 2017.

Do you think that 2017 was the "Golden Year of Crypto"? Or is the best is yet to come? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Smiley

Yes,you are right. I am agree with your post.2017 was the most successful year in crypto. So,the year of 2017 was the golden year of crypto.

By now, it was. In 2017 Bitcoin price increased by up to 2000%, while in 2020 the price has risen by around 600%. So in percentage terms, 2017 is the most successful year. In absolute terms, however, 2020 is the most successful. So you can see it either way.

maybe before 2020 comes, it can be said that 2017 is the year of crypto glory but it looks like now the year of crypto glory has changed to 2020 when the price of bitcoin was able to pass the record for the most expensive price that occurred in 2017, but there is little difference between the increase in crypto in 2017 By 2020, in 2017 bitcoin and altcoin experienced quite high price increases simultaneously, but in 2020, the increase in crypto prices was only dominated by bitcoin and a few large altcoins.

I might say that 2017 was a not to be forgotten year for the cryptocurrency history. Alot of us made big profits during the ICO season and during the bull run. I think that there will be other seasons just like the past happening but it will be risky for sure, just be careful dealing with the crypto assets now and only invest what you can afford to lose.

2017 was  A golden year, it has changed and improve  the crypto structure on people’s  mind. But it doesn't declared that it was the golden year because 2020 is almost the same and hit the sky, For Now and So far, That years was the best too.
Although 2017 and 2020 are almost the same. As many projects have been successful in 2017. That could not happen in 2020. In 2017, there was a huge amount of projects and almost maximum success was achieved. Projects succeeded in 2020, However less than 2017.

on this very day, many may no longer see 2017 as a great year for cryptocurrencies but to me it still is because 2017 set the record in terms all time high which has been broken to (16/12/2020). This very later part of 2020 for now appears to be the the golden time for crypto especially bitcoin.
Bitcoin hit new ATH just yesterday. I think it's a matter of perspective. indeed 2017 was the most profitable year, even for me. But for some people, that is also a bad year, because there is a lot of fraud at the ICO. I might hope that 2017 will repeat even if it's not possible, but if a year like 2017 can repeat then I hope there is a situation as well as a safer procedure for everyone.

2017 is very different from the "new time". If you remember, in 2017, huge funds were poured into ANY crypto project not only from professional investors, but also from millions of "home experts". As a result, this gave rise to a situation where, with a high probability, any invested dollar, withdrawn from the project on time, gave huge profits. On the other hand, in the same way, money was lost on a large scale - the profit in this situation is formed at the expense / losses of less intelligent investors, who should pay for everything! Now the market has changed - there are no projects / companies / "megatechnologies" created every second, where they are lured at every corner. Some kind of market regulation has appeared. The market is becoming more "law-abiding" and therefore less profitable against the background of 2017

For me, as a hunter, it is certain that 2017 was a golden year because that year all tokensale were sold and the rewards given to hunters were quite large. Hunters in that year would know how easy it was to get money
yes you are very right, I remember at that time in one campaign we could generate $ 500 or even tens of thousands of dollars, but even so for me now is a good year for crypto (not for altcoins)

This year as well if you had stayed invested in bitcoin and good altcoins those have given good returns. But if any coin which is worthless or just a pump and dump coins if invested those coins will never give you good returns even if bitcoin continue to rise. So apparently if one stayed invested in just bitcoin only and couple of altcoins will still have made good money from it.

It seems that the year of crypto gold will occur in 2020, because just look at the end of this year the price of crypto has increased dramatically, especially BTC, up 100% from the beginning of 2020. so this is the second golden year after 2017 in my opinion

I'm so excited to see Bitcoin reach a new ATH, after the craze of 2017. It seems to me that the best is yet to come by 2021. Still, I believe 2017 will remain as the "Golden Year of Crypto" since it was the time when crypto became widely adopted in the mainstream world. It triggered massive innovations in the crypto/Blockchain space at a very fast pace. 2021 will become interesting as most cryptocurrencies reach new ATH in price. Some will even adopt new network upgrades in order to scale for the masses. The introduction of ETH 2.0 will cause a boom in ETH and ERC-20 tokens' prices on the market. It's best to take advantage of the bull market in order to cash out as much profits as possible. Ultimately, what matters is a cryptocurrency's use cases than its price.

Nonetheless, expect crypto to grow towards new heights during the next 10-15 years. Every Bitcoin halving will have a positive effect over crypto's prices in the long run. Mainstream events will also have a determining factor over the crypto/Blockchain industry's success. With COVID-19 and a decaying economy in play, crypto will experience constant demand on the market by everyday people. Just my thoughts Grin

Was 2017 the "Golden Year of Crypto"?
I have two different opinion about this.
Firstly I think 2017 was the Golden Year of Crypto. Because Crypto has gained the most popularity in 2017.  A lot of people found out about Crypto in 2017. From this point of view, of course, 2017 was the Golden Year of Crypto.

Secondly 2017 was the Golden Year of altcoins and Bitcoin. But 2020 is the Golden Year of Bitcoin only.  Because other coins can't keep up with Bitcoin.

Looking back at 2017, the crypto market is indeed very crazy. Many cryptocurrencies on the market have risen more than 1,000 times. That year was called the cryptocurrency year. In the past few years, the price of Bitcoin has risen to $23,000, while other cryptocurrency prices are not far from their last peak. Hope next year is also a crazy year.
We call it crypto because it's not only for bitcoin, so I think 2017 was really the golden year for crypto as there are a lot of projects that are having its bull run that time, and bitcoin wasn't as dominant as it is now, I can still remember, bitcoin drop to 30% dominant rate and this gives a big room for altcoins to have a bull run, especially for ETH and ETH tokens.

In 2017, there was a real crypto explosion! Who managed to catch the wave became a real lucky guy! The yield of cryptocurrency for 2017 is simply colossal-33014%! No financial asset can boast such a level of profitability! I think many people are interested in the question when this can happen again.

From where did you got this 330x figure? I checked the charts and what you are saying is not true. Bitcoin gave a return of 22x during 2017. Some of the established altcoins such as Ethereum and Ripple gave higher returns, but none of them came close to 330x. The combined cryptocurrency market cap was $2.2 billion in 2017 January and by the end of the year it had increased to $350 billion. It is still quite high, but not exactly 330x.
