I don't think it will be extraordinary, and I don't feel like that will really happen, it's hard to defeat bitcoin .
if bitcoin loses its rank 1 it is possible that crypto is really dead and abandoned.

Ethereun can't really replace bitcoin because ETH is next to BTC so bitcoin can't replace ethereum because of the size of its investors because they are certain that they will make a lot of money.

Although Ethereum is one of the big altcoins, but I think replacing BTC is impossible because BTC and ETH have different functions, BTC is more focused as a peer-to-peer electronic money system for payments, while ETH focuses more on the Blockchain to run a decentralized program.

I am guessing that too beat this dominance, ETH has to go a long way yet. But then again the facts you mentioned are really on point. BTC has more excellent value as of now and will ETH ever reach that mark? It is very hard, but who knows what the future holds for ETH. I hope it is good. BTC is the king of crypto as of now.

It may have a higher price than BTC but that doesn't make it the most trusted and father of cryptos. There are many coins such as maker and bitcoincash that are of higher value than ether but ether is always seen as the number 2 or 3 in crypto. The same will happen when it comes to bitcoin and ether. The price may go higher than BTC but BTC will always be the best to look out for.

To replace Bitcoin I think it's the hardest thing.
Indeed, Ethereum has good potential because the coin is continuously being developed and becomes number two after Bitcoin.
You should also know that Bitcoin, a lot of adoption to be developed in real life.
As for payment assets, there are a lot of big companies working with Bitcoin.
So this makes Bitcoin increasingly popular among the community and will be very difficult to replace with other coins.

I am also a proud bitcoin lover but i dont see any issue whenever ethereum will surpass it in the future. We are all talking about opportunities and more financial stability here. Not just name and popularity. If ETH will become a better investment coin in the future then so be it.

The gap between the two (BTC and ETH) will always be wide. Bitcoin remains the pace setter and king, others are just alternatives, so let's not forget that in a hurry. I understand your points are valid, Ethereum has been good with developments although slow and steady. But I really do not think any altcoin can ever replace BTC someday.

First off, Ethereum is still considered an altcoin which means Bitcoin is the top dog, the coin with the most liquidity. And the Bitcoin price action usually reflects the sentiment in the whole of crypto. Ethereum needs to recover first and then it will beat the marketcap of Bitcoin by implementing the scaling solutions already.

Agree. Ethereum would need to work on improving itself first, before considering it as a true rival of Bitcoin. Scalability is key towards massive adoption within the mainstream world. While both Bitcoin and Ethereum lack scalability, the former is much more popular and widely accepted worldwide. For a very good reason, people seem to trust more Bitcoin than any other altcoin nowadays. Even if Ethereum continues to grow in development and innovation, it may not be able to overcome Bitcoin anytime soon. But, we cannot tell for sure as crypto behaves in strange and bizarre ways.

What we could do is speculate what the outcome for both cryptocurrencies will be in the future. Until now, Ethereum has been doing fine as an alternative blockchain platform which provides greater functionalities than Bitcoin itself. It could serve well as a complement to the BTC blockchain than anything else. Bitcoin has been prove to be quite stable and resilient as a cryptocurrency for payments worldwide. It's largely limited for financial use, but it has been doing great over time. In the end, I believe that both BTC and ETH will survive for many years to come. If ETH overcomes BTC in the future (which I doubt it), it'll be quite a surprising event for many crypto enthusiasts and ordinary people alike. Just my opinion Smiley

you talking if ethereum replace bitcoin someday but in what aspect, if about price i don't know because as we know ethereum supply is much than bitcoin supply and we don't know who control the market.

and if we talk about technology are ethereum bring we know for now ethereum still superior to bitcoin with their dapps features

BTC is prevalent in all viewpoints, as far as network, volume and market predominance hard for different altcoins including ethereum to supplant the situation of bitcoin.
ETH keeps on advancing and advancement is showing signs of improvement yet it is as yet hard for ethereum to supplant bitcoin.
Ethereum has a capitalization the second biggest market after bitcoin, yet ethereum may almost certainly go with bitcoin

If Ethereum one day replaced Bitcoin - we will see a new market with new leader which can show capitalization much higher than BTC now.

While this looks technically and fiscally impossible, but on a softer note, at such event we can now expect double of current cryptocurrency market capitalization which means growth and adoption. But then I don't really see any of this coming to fruition

Ethereum can't replace Bitcoin, first they are different cryptocurrencies, and secondly Bitcoin can't be replaced by any altcoin because it is the most successful cryptocurrency, and it has the biggest community and volume of trading, it is, in fact, affecting the markets of altcoins either when it goes up or down.

This will never happen, because ETH has long since died out as a project and updates will simply support ETH on the 2nd place on the market, if anyone overtakes Bitcoin, it is definitely not ETH, but some new coin.

Ethereum, being the world's second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has all the potential of replacing Bitcoin in the future. It's more than just a cryptocurrency, being a platform for the development and execution of smart contracts (aka dApps). With ETH, it's possible to launch alternative cryptocurrencies without the need to start a Blockchain from scratch. It's also possible to use the ETH blockchain for other purposes such as voting, proof of identity, verification of documents, and more. In contrast, Bitcoin's only use is for finance where it cannot be implemented in other areas by its own.

Given all of the benefits Ethereum provides on top of Bitcoin, it makes me wonder whenever it'll be able to replace the pioneer cryptocurrency within the future? As long as, Ethereum keeps progressing in development and mainstream acceptance, it'll be much closer to Bitcoin every step of the way. What are your thoughts? Huh

I think it's still not possible, even after ethereum can solve the problem of scalability and use POS. still bitcoin will be the first, because bitcoin still dominates the marketcap.
Bitcoin dominates, but Ethereum is rapidly growing trading volumes. I think that next year Ethereum may come close to Bitcoin's trading performance. Few coins manage to build up trading volumes.

Its not possible not even in years. Bitcoin and ethreum is very much different form each other. Bitcoin is the first crypto based on block chain technology. And in other hand ethereum is a platform based token. The purpose of these two token is very different form each other. And people mainly like bitcoin form any other coin. That's why you can see the dominance. 60% of the whole cap of the market is nothing but bitcoin. And the market cap is far huge that ethereum. So there is no point in discussion of this coin in different side.

If Ethereum progressed then it would be possible to talk about some benefits. But at the moment we see an abandoned cryptocurrency on which work is not underway. Most likely Ethereum will not be able to get out of this hole and it will disappear. But if update 2.0 goes well, we can draw some conclusions, but it's too early for that.
