I think the altcoins season has started now, since the beginning of 2023 the price of bitcoin has begun to stabilize increase, and altcoins prices have slowly followed this increase, indeed it has decreased several times, but if you look at the chart at the beginning of the year, altcoins are still increasing, so this is a good time to invest

I am not also experienced in Bitcoin but I have something in mind about what you may do with your portfolio. It's up to you what you want to do when I share what I am going to share.

Choose altcoins that you think that are most likely not getting its price more than 20% or an altcoin that doesn't have much potential and convert it to Bitcoin while the rest you think have good potential stay as it is until next season. In that way, I think you will prevent more loss with its value but for you to stop more loss then buying stable coin is much more recommended since it is much more stable than other altcoin since it is pegged in USD. YOUR CHOICE.
That's quite good for someone who doesn't have lots of experience in that field but I agree with this. I even read from a reply of a well known forum members that converting your crypto into stable coins will prevent more loss when the price decrease but you will also lose the chance to earn profit if the price will increase or let's just say altcoin season or bullrun in that case. If Bitcoin's price eill increase drastically then would also say that altcoin season is now starting just like what other people say.

I think the altcoins season has started, because many altcoins have started to rise following the bitcoin price which is also slowly starting to rise, if you want to invest in altcoins, now is the right time

Converting half of your altcoins to bitcoin is the best thing you can do to be honest. The risk is less when investing in bitcoin. I am guessing you are waiting because your altcoins are already down by 20%? I would say, don't wait for the price to go back up. When  your altcoins recover from the 20% loss, chances are the price of bitcoin will be much higher. Also there is na chance that your altcoins might go down even more while bitcoin continues to go up. Also guessing the exact timing of the next altcoin season can be a bit tricky since crypto markets are known for their unpredictability and if anyone says they know the exact "dates", then they are lying.

It depends on which altcoins. Major altcoins and altcoins with good liquidity will grow as bitcoin grows. For example, how often do you see a situation where bitcoin goes up and altcoins like Litecoin or Ethereum go down hard? They fall a lot when bitcoin itself is falling, but most of the time the market is always growing in unison, some asset is growing a little bit more and some asset is growing a little bit less. Also many altcoins grow much faster than bitcoin itself.

I have decided I have too many altcoins in my portfolio and want to convert up to half of them into Bitcoin but I am waiting for the next pump like we saw in January to do this as don't want to convert while my altcoins are 20% down.

I have only been in crypto last 12 months so not that experienced when it comes to understanding cycles. Do we have any idea when the next altcoin season is due?
In the flow Altcoin goes according to the movement of bitcoin in the market, if bitcoin enters the bullrun zone then altcoins will follow it, at least I understand that during the current crypto market period, if your Altcoin gets stuck I think if you have an altcoin that has the potential to reverse direction maybe you need to hold on to it at least until bitcoin is in a bullrun phase. But it comes back to you if you believe in the Altcon that you have potential, you have to keep holding on to it, and make sure the altcoin project is running well and is always active on social media as a sign that they are still operating or have no potential failures that cause you to lose your money .

it seems like things have gotten better with bitcoin at least it has gone far away from its all time low.
but it seems many coins despite bitcoin getting better aren't getting better, assuming the presence of newer coins that now taken attention of many, those coin that stays stagnant despite changing tide of trend are gonna be eliminated eventually.
When the altseason begins, all coins will rise, no matter whether they are new or old. So now you can fill your bags with your favourite projects cheaply and just wait for the altseason. I think it might happen this year, but not as massive as it was in 2017 or 2021. But locally we will definitely see growth.

I think, it will happen and be successfully implemented next year. I see a lot of good projects now in twitter also in discord. But for me, I will accumulate bitcoin first before altcoins. Altcoins will pump when bitcoin is triggered, I have a lot of altcoins now in my trust wallet waiting for it to come alive hoping that project owner has a plan on it. But for now since this will become a prep for next year halving then it is time to check for a good one

It is difficult to say exactly about the next altcoin season. But from my experience it will start around Q3 2024. There are many articles by experts on the internet about this. You can read them and make up your own mind.
The next bitcoin halving is in April 2024. I think next bullrun will happen after April 2024.

When Bitcoin pump and skyrocket soon everything will follow together with altcoins. No one knows the exact date or time when it will happen but it is going to happen because the market is a cycle and the money flows. In my experience as a trader, the best thing to do is always to buy a massive percentage of bitcoin on your portfolio higher than the percentage compared to altcoins. Bitcoin is always the top cryptocurrency and it is the best investment compared to other altcoin just because of its structure and halving stuff, in the long run bitcoin will become rare and with the law of supply and demand you could expect that the market price of bitcoin will skyrocket soon.
And the best thing to do is to take this chance while the market prices are still low. We don't need to wait for other days or wait for another dump but rather make a decision to sell unprofitable altcoins into Bitcoin. Halving is just coming and we all know that prices went high eventually when it comes closer (as expected). So before it happens, better make our portfolio ready then and only stuck/hold potential coins, not these shitcoins. We never look for luck just like it happens before when shitcoins surprisingly go high, we don't have any assurance that it will be going to happen again.

If it were me, I would decide like you, I would convert shitcoins to bitcoins now for a chance to recover my losses or make a profit when the market recovers. Because when the bull market comes, surely bitcoin will rise, but with shitcoin, not all shitcoins recover and rise like bitcoin. It's too risky to hold shitcoins and expect them to recover, as we've seen after every bear cycle, shitcoins are often replaced with new projects. Investing in shitcoins is like gambling, not as guaranteed as bitcoin.

Not all altcoins are shitcoins. A few that I hold may go to zero but as long as one pumps and does a 10x then I will be fine.

No, I don't mean all altcoins are shitcoins, as I am also an investor in altcoins. But you need to make sure that you only hold top altcoins like Ethereum or BNB. The rest, I don't have too much faith in them, I mean, they will most likely be like Luna or FTT.

It can be said that depending on the investment mindset of each person, you can also invest in those altcoins, but you need to know what you are doing with your money and have a contingency plan for the scenario they drop to zero without being pumped.

And everyone has their own idea of what they do based on their market experience. I'd see that we are too optimistic about the upcoming halving and so everyone is preparing for it. Let this kind of market insight gives is a brilliant idea to choose the right decision to make and the coins to choose with. Because we never lose if we believe that we are invested in the right coin like Bitcoin and decided to keep only potential coins over shitcoins is not regret but a great decision ever.
Relying on history to predict the future of the crypto market can be helpful, but it is just one of many factors that need to be considered. History can give us a glimpse of how the market has reacted to events in the past, but it does not guarantee that the same event will have the same effect in the future.

In addition, the crypto market is a very complex market and is influenced by various factors, including changes in government regulation, developments in blockchain technology, and changes in demand. of the user. Therefore, it is not possible to accurately predict the future of the market based on history alone.

I think the next altcoin season is next to bitcoin bull season, if bitcoin goes up above 30k$ altcoin season will follow it is happen most of the time that during bullish season specially when bitcoin slowly rising altcoin will also rise so the next altcoin season is depend on bitcoin movement.

Altcoin price strongly depends on the acceptability of Bitcoin, the stronger BTC gets the closer we are to the next altcoins season. I expect that we will be in the next altcoins season when BTC breaks it's previous all-time high.
that's true generally, but considering lately there have been many L2 coins that has risen really high, then I think some might not really dependant on the existence of bitcoin since they are just good enough in term of their own quality, take example optimism, arbitrum and there are many that's going to come, they could be rising while bitcoin just stuck but if bitcoin also have some rally, then it will be massive altcoin season.

Everything has its own good and bad sides due to the way we see and evaluate it. I agree with you guys about consulting others, but this repeats the mistake if OP doesn't know that the previous analysis is just speculation about the market. And I still hold the argument that always research things and be proactive with them, not depending on anything from anyone to provide.
But everyone's experience helps in the investment journey, however the formula never applies to the majority of profit in the crypto space that I see. Crowd psychology has a deep connection with market volatility, the fact that many newcomers to the market rely solely on fomo information leads to not failing in the crypto market. to the realm outside of it.
And everyone has their own idea of what they do based on their market experience. I'd see that we are too optimistic about the upcoming halving and so everyone is preparing for it. It would be interesting to see what is the reaction of the market to the next halving, I say this because as you mention now most market participants are preparing for it and want to benefit from the effects of the halving, but not only the effect of the halving is getting weaker and the market cap of bitcoin higher, but now we have  many more people aware of the consequences of the halving on the price, something which could delay and hinder the growth we are expecting out of it.

Altcoin season usually depends on Bitcoin price movement because when Bitcoin pumps and gets a stable price then altcoins start pumping hard. And also there are many indicators to know about the altcoins bull run. I think it's time to hold altcoins as very soon we may see altcoin season if Bitcoin price pumps and gets stable. It may happen very soon as Bitcoin is bullish now.
I think there are altcoin seasons in which Bitcoin did not increase but most of the altcoin seasons happens only when Bitcoin price pumps up. This is the reason why you can say that alts bull run are easier to detect but I think only worthy altcoins are qualified on this event so if you own some weak altcoins, don't expect that they will sky rocket too.

It will be good if we hold both Bitcoin and altcoin and not just altcoin alone, so that once Bitcoin pumps, we still can earn another in our altcoin investments and if one of them fail's to pump up, we still can earn with the other. There is no way we will be zero if we own coins from each category.

My question to you is, what makes you so sure that the altcoins you invest in will recover in the next bull season? I mean, investing in altcoins is very risky, and there will be a lot of altcoins that never recover, and you lose forever, that's the difference between investing in bitcoin and shitcoin. What you need to do is check if those altcoins are still active, and clean your portfolio from now on. Because if your portfolio is full of shitcoins, you should also forget about them and build a bitcoin portfolio from now on.

My portfolio is not full of shitcoins - the majorority are in the current top 40 and I know they could go lower and even go to zero but most won't and I will at least see 2X which is when I plan on putting some profits into Bitcoin.
