Everything has its own good and bad sides due to the way we see and evaluate it. I agree with you guys about consulting others, but this repeats the mistake if OP doesn't know that the previous analysis is just speculation about the market. And I still hold the argument that always research things and be proactive with them, not depending on anything from anyone to provide.
But everyone's experience helps in the investment journey, however the formula never applies to the majority of profit in the crypto space that I see. Crowd psychology has a deep connection with market volatility, the fact that many newcomers to the market rely solely on fomo information leads to not failing in the crypto market. to the realm outside of it.
And everyone has their own idea of what they do based on their market experience. I'd see that we are too optimistic about the upcoming halving and so everyone is preparing for it. Let this kind of market insight gives is a brilliant idea to choose the right decision to make and the coins to choose with. Because we never lose if we believe that we are invested in the right coin like Bitcoin and decided to keep only potential coins over shitcoins is not regret but a great decision ever.

Does that mean that most of the altcoins you own are new altcoins you get from bounties or airdrop?
if it's true you don't need to wait for the altcoin season to arrive, if the altcoin you have has a high enough value you should conversion  to BTC. New altcoin prices are very volatile and very easy to manipulate, sometimes Although altcoin season has arrived many new altcoin prices drop.

Op can even join telegram groups where he will be getting signal about the market next movement which can be very profitable to him. The market is a always reacting moving from up to down. The best way that we can understand the market movement is possibly by learn the market movement and how the market previous pattern can tell us something about the whole market direction. Op can check few posts here that is meant for market predictions and how the next bullish market will come to play out.
I agree that it is logical to follow the market based on peoples reactions, but do not invest based on what the telegram signal channels are saying because half of them are wrong. They just put in some signals for certain indicators and when that's it the signal goes out but there is no guarantee that those signals would be actually signals of price going up, it just means the indicator level was hit like the owner asked and that's it.

Like BB is under 20, sure that's good but doesn't mean it has to go up, and yet the signal will go out anyway. Just make sure what people are saying and how hyped they are, or how desperate they feel, based on that you could make a prediction.

What do you mean there is no more altcoin season? Altcoin season was never a way between Bitcoin leadership vs altcoin, no altcoin is dragging anything with Bitcoin, altcoin season mean that altcoin pumping after Bitcoin is done pumping and the dominance starts decreasing.
It's mean you're not even understand about altcoins season is, I will quote the definition about altcoin season.

The term 'altcoin season' refers to a market cycle when altcoins outperform Bitcoin. Factors that can contribute to altcoin season may include an overall bullish sentiment in the cryptocurrency market; the launch of, or major updates to, altcoins; and a decrease in Bitcoin dominance.

In short altcoins season is to outperform Bitcoin and altcoins season occur because of altcoins, not because influenced from Bitcoin season. Altcoins will not pump after Bitcoin is done pumping because when Bitcoin is done pumping, the majority of altcoins price will decrease too.

when the market has recovered and the bull run occurs, then that's when the altseason will occur, so now you don't need to think about when the altseason occurs, but you better take advantage of the current situation to buy more altcoin that you have, so if an altseason occurs, then of course you will get a big profit.

I have decided I have too many altcoins in my portfolio and want to convert up to half of them into Bitcoin but I am waiting for the next pump like we saw in January to do this as don't want to convert while my altcoins are 20% down.

I have only been in crypto last 12 months so not that experienced when it comes to understanding cycles. Do we have any idea when the next altcoin season is due?

When Bitcoin pump and skyrocket soon everything will follow together with altcoins. No one knows the exact date or time when it will happen but it is going to happen because the market is a cycle and the money flows. In my experience as a trader, the best thing to do is always to buy a massive percentage of bitcoin on your portfolio higher than the percentage compared to altcoins. Bitcoin is always the top cryptocurrency and it is the best investment compared to other altcoin just because of its structure and halving stuff, in the long run bitcoin will become rare and with the law of supply and demand you could expect that the market price of bitcoin will skyrocket soon.
And the best thing to do is to take this chance while the market prices are still low. We don't need to wait for other days or wait for another dump but rather make a decision to sell unprofitable altcoins into Bitcoin. Halving is just coming and we all know that prices went high eventually when it comes closer (as expected). So before it happens, better make our portfolio ready then and only stuck/hold potential coins, not these shitcoins. We never look for luck just like it happens before when shitcoins surprisingly go high, we don't have any assurance that it will be going to happen again.

If it were me, I would decide like you, I would convert shitcoins to bitcoins now for a chance to recover my losses or make a profit when the market recovers. Because when the bull market comes, surely bitcoin will rise, but with shitcoin, not all shitcoins recover and rise like bitcoin. It's too risky to hold shitcoins and expect them to recover, as we've seen after every bear cycle, shitcoins are often replaced with new projects. Investing in shitcoins is like gambling, not as guaranteed as bitcoin.

Converting half of your altcoins to bitcoin is the best thing you can do to be honest. The risk is less when investing in bitcoin. I am guessing you are waiting because your altcoins are already down by 20%? I would say, don't wait for the price to go back up. When  your altcoins recover from the 20% loss, chances are the price of bitcoin will be much higher. Also there is na chance that your altcoins might go down even more while bitcoin continues to go up. Also guessing the exact timing of the next altcoin season can be a bit tricky since crypto markets are known for their unpredictability and if anyone says they know the exact "dates", then they are lying.

We hope the next altcoin season will be very soon and we may see a big pump in altcoins if Bitcoin price breaks 35k resistance level. We can't say accurately when altcoins will pump but we can predict by doing analysis. So there are many indicators how you can predict the next altcoin bull season.

There are some market signals that I think people can tap into about the btc/alt dom, but keep in mind no one can predict exactly when the next altcoin cycle will be due. However, if you are looking to convert part of your altcoin into Bitcoin, you can consider allocating this amount in installments and do the conversion gradually. The cryptocurrency market tends to move in cycles, with bullish and bearish rallies intertwined. This cycle typically lasts from a few months to several years and is influenced by various factors such as technology developments, global events and market sentiment.

for the altcoin season can not be predicted for this year. to convert into bitcoins should not be done first, I think we need to see or wait for better market conditions so that whatever altcoins we have will become a handle and have value until the end of the year.
for the altcoin season usually follows bitcoin's footsteps, if bitcoin continues to experience correction then most altcoin prices are dumps, and vice versa. hopefully later this year there will be interesting news for all altcoin prices.

My question to you is, what makes you so sure that the altcoins you invest in will recover in the next bull season? I mean, investing in altcoins is very risky, and there will be a lot of altcoins that never recover, and you lose forever, that's the difference between investing in bitcoin and shitcoin. What you need to do is check if those altcoins are still active, and clean your portfolio from now on. Because if your portfolio is full of shitcoins, you should also forget about them and build a bitcoin portfolio from now on.

As cryptocurrency enthusiasts, we often observe a trend where altcoin markets experience an upward movement when Bitcoin prices are on the rise and dominance is dropping. This pattern seems to hold true about once every 4 years. It's certainly exciting to see price movements, and having this information potentially increasing your portfolio balance. So, level up your portfolio until the alt market soar high!

Just wait for a while mate it always happen that bitcoin will be the first to rise and the next is altcoins, if btc will reach above 35k$ maybe that's the time that altcoin will rise up. And i think it is not far from today i saw btc is rising and if it will continue the altcoins will surely follow the trend.

Yeah I will keep waiting - hopefully in the next few weeks we will see another pump.

Due to the rise in the last 24 hours my portfolio is now only 4% down so it does go up quick when we do see a rise.

If bitcoin will not be pumped and altcoin will not too. It's all follow bitcoin patter. Bitcoin is everything right now. As you can see that how people look very optimistic once the price of bitcoin is starting to increase. i expect the same thing to happen with altcoin as well. it's just the matter of time until bitcoin will pumped so hard and then altcoin will be following it as soon as possible. I can't wait for the big bullish trend to happen again very soon. try to buy many altcoin as much as i can
Altcoins closely align bitcoin, however they don't experience the same level of volatility as bitcoin. Being in good position once the market is transitioning into a bear season is very planned. In every market segment, Bitcoin is the market leader and is at the top of the cryptocurrency scoreboard. Because the bear market needs to be eliminated before the altcoins season is launched, it is still early in the altcoins bull season. Although the upcoming bullish market won't last long, we still need to make the most of our time, thus I've added the set-up entries for cryptocurrencies to my wishlist.

If you wait for altcoins to recover, it's the same as waiting for Bitcoin to recover. If you convert to Bitcoin, then you will get the same amount of Bitcoin as now. Because altcoins will also grow based on Bitcoin.
This is different when you convert to stablecoins. You will get different results if you convert now and you convert when the price goes up.

This is not always 100% true - I hold Quant and it pumped last October while Bitcoin was moving sideways and I should have sold then but didn't as it is one of the altcoins I believe in most and want to hold long term.

Looking back I should have took some profits though as I was over 2x at the peak of that rally in October. I am just waiting for something like this to happen again with either Quant or one of my other altcoins and when it does I will put a lot of the profits into Bitcoin.

Perhaps it's just one instance wherein it was pump due to hype or some positive news about this project. I don't have anything about it, might be really solid and I also can't say about you not wanting to sell during the pump and I hope that you have learn your lessons from that x2 increase and your possible paper profit by that time and yeah, it could be good hold. Because the altcoin season is not yet here. It might take another year or so, right after the block halving. And far as history goods this is the catalyst for a massive bull run for bitcoin, so in any case, the pump will trickle down and have a domino effect on most of the altcoins, and again who knows, maybe your Quant and others in your portfolio will have a massive increased that time so keep on holding.
