As more and more people are becoming aware of bitcoin and more and more people are investing in it. It has come under th government's notice. Many retailers have actually started accepting bitcoins in comparison to the past. I think if not all but soon most of the retailers are going to accept bitcoins.
That there are lots of stores and commercial establishments using bitcoin in Japan doesn’t mean that they are the only ones that does it. Other (not all) does the same thing, so not only Japan. The difference is that there large number of them in Japan than in other countries. In my country there are few of them, if I might say.

maybe next year or in 2019-2020 we will have a lot of sellers who accept payment by bitcoin, bitcoin is in the stage of slowly being famous around the world, lets just wait and everyone will notice it since the prediction next year with its value might rose up to 10k$ or even more.

No one knows, maybe the next year more countries will accept bitcoin on their retailers. To be honest it's hard to motivate retailers to accept bitcoin because the price of bitcoin that can easily decrease. The bitcoin price is fall right now, imagine if the retailers accept bitcoin, the price will always changed because of that.

Bitcoin- in bullish time
September 15, 2017, 08:52:31 AM
I think more retailers will accept bitcoin if its value will be more stabilized. Especially now that the value is deflating every day. So maybe more retailers are still waiting on what will happen after the hard fork. Retailers are businessmen who are not ready to risk when it comes to transacting with bitcoins. They will need more time to be convinced to accept btc. It's good to invest in bitcoin if you are investing for long term but retailers need cash to run their business.

in simple terms the retailers will accept if bitcoin price is low so that their capital is low, then sell then when the time that the demand is high and the price is high.
It doesn't matter if how much is their capital because the acceptance of bitcoin is not dependent in the capital of the retailer because even the owner is not a big time then he can still accept bitcoin because they don't need to spend some money in bitcoin for accepting and they just need to create a bitcoin wallet then that is what they need for accepting bitcoin.

I hope so. That is one og the major problem of bitcoin.
Lacking in merchants and also those shops that accepts bitcoin as a currency.
This should be changed fast. There have been many coins that are being created and they might see it as a better one in terms of payment rather than bitcoin.
It could be popular but after that users could be directed to another crypto like ETH, and LTC.

Perhaps retailers accept bitcoin when government legalized using on it. Depends upon the mass who give's trust  in accepting bitcoins they are the keys  to bring it to the top, As a democratic country the voice of the majority are the most powerful means to decide the legalization of this matter.

If we compare the knowledge of bitcoin last 4 years when I don't know what it is to late last year, we would see that there have been progress on the awareness of bitcoin. So, the usage and acceptance of bitcoin stems from the its awareness and I see that most people are getting to know about it. Soon the awareness will increase more and it will have a positive effect on the acceptance.

it take time.. when enough people will have adopted bitcoin, then it will make more sense to retailers to offer it as an payment method/option

that of course needs time, but hey.. time is all we have
Well basically we needed to have it legalized in many countries as possible to have this sort of thing that more retailers will just go accept Bitcoin as means of payment and more stuffs like that. Also what we also need is to have Bitcoin have its own value, I mean we still need fiat (dollar) to determine its price. We needed that, because if you look at it they're not coexisting at all, Bitcoin is dependent on the fiats as I've said it will determine its value and all but vice versa? Not so much or none at all.
If we really want to increase the use of bitcoins in daily life, we badly need to make bitcoins legal internationally within no time. This action should be taken for the better future of bitcoins and its investors. I don’t think so we should have any problem for the relationship between bitcoins and dollar.

I think that would depend on how many bitcoin user a country have. Here in my country, its not yet popular and many are still ignorant about bitcoin but i think when most people here use bitcoin, then stores would soon accept bitcoin as payment. It all depends on popularity Smiley
It is fact that a country accepts a new business when the residents are more willing to use that particular business. So as the case of bitcoins, when it will be more famous in a country, ultimately the retailers have to shift them into it and thus the government too.
I agree to that. It depends on the user of bitcoin because if they are going to see more and more bitcoin user in their are then the retailers will adjust their mode of payment and they will use bitcoin as a mode of payment and the government might accept bitcoin too so they can get some profit from bitcoin by taxing the businesses who are using bitcoin.

Maybe more retailers will start accepting Bitcoin when Bitcoin became legal in our respective countries and when people are known of what is Bitcoin, its advantages and disadvantages, how to use them, how to trade them and how to handle them.
Isn't once bitcoin become legal currency in one country does bitcoin still decentralize? it just came up into my mind because the government of each country as we all know was being categorize in centralization.

I believe there are two main factors that retailers look at when looking at bitcoin:
1. Does it improve my current payment system that I use?
2. Does the positive aspects outnumber the negative aspects of the cryptocurrency on the mid/long term?

I wish I could spend my bitcoins locally or even in my country at all (easily). Although it has helped me hang onto them and earn quite a bit over the years.

Since bitcoin is a currency which is increasing its value day by day and also becoming much valuer than the dollar so maybe in the next few years to come most of the retailers would start payment in bitcoins and also accepting in bitcoins
well popularity will force retailers to accept and use this system the more people to push this up the more popularity that bitcoin will gather and with this current situation regarding to its value things will change everything and maybe adoption will take place.
Correct, retailers may choose to adopt bitcoin on their own, but since business owners only care about he profits and not about ideas then it is unlikely you are going to convince too many people stating the great characteristics of bitcoin, but if they see a lot of clients asking to buy things with their bitcoin then they are going to begin to accept bitcoin immediately.

I have the feeling a lot of people in bitcoin are just holders...or traders.
Seems like everybody is looking at what will happen with btc price, but they seem less interested in spending btc and using it as a currency.

Even if we wanted, there is not a lot of things that you can buy with bitcoin directly and until that changes people are going to treat bitcoin more as an investment than a currency but that could change with the new improvements done by the devs to the bitcoin network.

Retailers mainly expect two things for accepting bitcoin widely as payment. They mostly expect it to be legalized so that they could accept it with confidence.Secondly, volatility of bitcoin price is a big issue for them. But we saw in japan after legalization, most of retailers readily accepted bitcoin and now around 250,000 retailers are accepting bitcoin payment. They have not even considered about volatility. So its clear that if bitcoin gets legalized in all countries,it would be accepted by retailers all over the world.

"Japan: No Bitcoin Tax, Thousands of Stores to Accept the Cryptocurrency"

article published July, 5, 2017
https://edgylabs.com/2017/07/05/japan-no-bitcoin-tax-stores-accept-cryptocurrency/

"AirRegi is a widely used, tablet-based point-of-sale app in Japan. Currently, around 260,000 establishments, stores, and commercial facilities use this proprietary app to accept payments from their clients."

It makes sense that a transition to accept bitcoin would be underway for more US-based stores.
Probably, it will be accepted by more retailers if it will be legal to most countries. Ofcourse, if it will be legal to countries, it will be a reason for them to accept it. Another instance is due to public demand. If the demand will be high, local retailers will accept it because they will cope up with the demand of their customers for them to earn profit. There are already countries that made Bitcoin together with other cryptocurrency, legal. And with this, there'll be more countries and retailer that will consider it as a currency.

Japan has really advanced technology. I hope that my country become like Japan because thousands stores now in Japan are accepting bitcoin as daily payment. I think in the next 10 years, the bitcoin will become more popular and most of the businesses in the world will accept the bitcoin.
