One problem that needs resolving.
How do we get them to see bitcoin as an inviting currency? How do we make it look that there is a lot of profit here than a regular merchant using the fiat system as a payment option?
It is the risk that they want to make it vanish. If they accept bitcoin as payment they are also on the brink of losing a lot of money. I say make them see how they could withdraw the funds and get a safety amount of money after a good start into using bitcoin as a means of payment.
Most of the merchants accept bitcoin through a gateway. The gateway pays them directly to their bank the next day in fiat. The price of bitcoin is determined and fixed the moment they receive the coin. So the owners won't be suffering any kind of loss and should not be afraid to accept bitcoin.

We should understand that the majority of big retailers have their things well. If majority of citizens uses cash and credit cards, ok, they will sell us food and goods using these means. But at the time when government will regulate BTC well enough, just in that time retailers would not be afraid to use BTC on full capacity. Because license and reputation is more valuable for them, than blind faith into crypto.

I wish I could spend my bitcoins locally or even in my country at all (easily). Although it has helped me hang onto them and earn quite a bit over the years.

Since bitcoin is a currency which is increasing its value day by day and also becoming much valuer than the dollar so maybe in the next few years to come most of the retailers would start payment in bitcoins and also accepting in bitcoins
well popularity will force retailers to accept and use this system the more people to push this up the more popularity that bitcoin will gather and with this current situation regarding to its value things will change everything and maybe adoption will take place.
Correct, retailers may choose to adopt bitcoin on their own, but since business owners only care about he profits and not about ideas then it is unlikely you are going to convince too many people stating the great characteristics of bitcoin, but if they see a lot of clients asking to buy things with their bitcoin then they are going to begin to accept bitcoin immediately.

Before talking about that, let's talk about the challenge that businesses have to accept if they want to use bitcoin as a payment method. This is a very difficult challenge that not all businesses can overcome.

It has been accepted by retailers yes, but could be accepted by a lot more retailers.
This has actually been the first year that btc adoption among retailers has shown a decline
Really? Do you have some stats to back that info? Because Japan legalized bitcoin in this year and for what I have read, many retailers were now accepting bitcoin and in my opinion that should have been enough to push the number of retailers accepting bitcoin way up.

That's a very tough question to be answered. Retailers are depending also to the main dealer. So if the demand id high from the main,it will also go along perfectly with retailers. If ever they use bitcoin instead of real cash then it's time for the government to change our system to pay everything. As a result, it retailers will get a higher income soon.

I have the feeling a lot of people in bitcoin are just holders...or traders.
Seems like everybody is looking at what will happen with btc price, but they seem less interested in spending btc and using it as a currency.

Well, we have to thank Japan for really leading the way for the burgeoning adoption of Bitcoin down to many merchants or retailers. I am sure this can somehow make Bitcoin more popular as it can now be used to buy real-world products whether online or offline. It is now very convenient to pay Bitcoin because of the provided infrastructure.

As with the great USA, there seems to be a slower adoption of Bitcoin from merchants big and small. It can because of the still-lacking tax and legal framework to work with. We are having a wait and see attitude so far. Hopefully, in the coming months and years there would be an uptick in the merchants' attitude towards Bitcoin. Well, we are all hoping that soon Amazon and other big online retailers can facilitation the acceptance of Bitcoin.

There is no questions there are still many issues that e-commerce has to contend with in relation to Bitcoin. Many are showing apprehension with the currency's volatility which can definitely affect potential profits. Not to mention the reluctance of the government to fully recognize Bitcoin.

In some countries we are at peace in BTC and other crypto, but to some cryptocurrencies are banned (which I think is likely to happen in some countries too). But the acceptance of countries and the regulation of the government in it for the country like Japan (as we all know, Japan is a very popular country when it comes to economy), many countries too will likely to follow Japan.
Little by little, individual merchants, online stores and other companies are accepting BTC as a payment because they are just observing on how this will end ow what will happen in the coming years, because of the positive attitude that cryptocurrencies gave us, if this year is the year of new ICO... I think in 2018 it is the year of ACCEPTANCE of cryptocurrencies.

it may take time to socialize bitcoin to everyone so they know bitcoin and get involved in it, if this is the case, bitcoin development will continue to increase and possibly many stores or other means that provide transaction services with bitcoin.

It maybe sooner than we expect though. But of course, it would all be online. Personally i'm seeing more and more buying and selling using btc. I myself am buying from an online retailer with btc. We're not exactly there yet when most retailers accept btc but we're well on our way
what I'm worried about right now is not "why are still little retailers that accept payment with bitcoins?" because it will be overcome with more and more users coming in, it's just a matter of time for many stores to start adopting the system from bitcoin. what I'm worried about is that, when many retailers are accept payment with bitcoin, it's a user willing to spend their bitcoin in every day while transaction fee is very expensive?

I don't think more retailers will accept bitcoin, I alredy posted my thoghts on this issue in different topics. The volatile structure of bitcoin is not suitable for retailers. And transactime time is not also sutable too, retailers can't make sure if the customer didn't fraud them after a payment.

Yes but in volatile value of Bitcoin that it going to raise and its value and higher than the value of regular currency or their national currency. So it means that retailers will accept it cause their a lot of way how to pay trade in the market. Whether online, meet up or etc. and bitcoin is one of the easiest bitmoney to pay them.
Btc will soon be acknowledged by many, not only in online business but also in some physical stores. It can be treat ad another mode of payment like cards. Btc may features more development that will be in favor of accessing as a card.

Indeed, japan is pioneering the technology of digital currency in this case bitcoin so far their government is correlative in accepting innovations that have a goal to build progress. Even with bitcoin they first became a pioneer country in Asia that states the legality of bitcoin.
I think Japan is looking at crypto and have reached the conclusion that they are not going to be able to beat it and have decide to join it, I think many countries in the world are going to arrive at the same conclusion and will adopt bitcoin even if they are not that happy.

Still we don't know when it will happen but it's a big possibility that it will come in the coming years.
Maybe when bitcoin is properly established worldwide and everyone are using it, that's the time that retailer will get through it. Retailers now have still doubt about bitcoin because of it's volatility character that's why until now they don't accept bitcoin as a payment for their stocks.
i think that it is depending on the number of bitcoin users and their interest. as we can see that now the interest of the bitcoin uses is increasing in bitcoin which is compelling the shopkeepers to start accepting bitcoin for shopping in their house. i am sure that as time pass the number of bitcoin users will be increasing and so more and more retailers will also start accepting bitcoin for shopping.

The bitcoin is getting expanded very fast but we can't expect only bitcoin to be used from merchants/retailers in a short period of time.

What I see in the near future is the integration of other coins as well and so together to be a place to pay with cryptocurrencies (including Btc, Eth, Ltc...)

So there will be a discount if you pay with cryptocurrencies (or a cashback, gift or something similar) to involve more people to use cryto.

It is already been accepted in many places around the world but for it to be accepted every single place won't happen the reason would be it's supply there are very less people in the world who own bitcoin and in those also there will be people who don't wanna spend their bitcoin so simply implementing it won't help anyone
Here in my country bitcoin is not yet fully accepted and no retailers accepting bitcoin yet, and i think it takes more time to be accepted but i know that i would happen in the future since the bitcoin is on progress of being best currency that can helps more people to have another source of income,.
You think right. I too think the same. I believe the number of retailers accepting Bitcoins will not increase after a decade or so but with each passing day, this number will be increasing and we will be able to see a good response from those sitting in market especially when comes the point of Bitcoin.

I would imagine it would take some more general widespread acceptance, but also some increased price stability. There would be other factors, of course, and as more acceptance happens there would be potential regulations in place, but price stability would likely be a hugely important factor for more acceptance.
