I think that this will happen soon, because taking bitcoins by sellers will lead to higher prices for goods because of high fees. For small purchases, this decision will be very unprofitable.
Yes this condition is not very profitable, so try to buy maximum amount of bitcoin or if you want to sell then try to sell maximum amount of bitcoin, because in this way you fees will no effect you profit and you will get what pretty much secure future for you bitcoin, and I hope sooner when retailers accept bitcoin then this profit margin will increase further more.

Most retailers don't come forward to accept bitcoin because they fear of its credibility as a currency. Also, they don't accept it due to its volatile nature. We saw just before few months that japan legalized bitcoin and soon after that, more retailers started to accept bitcoin and now around 250,000 retail stores accept bitcoin and it may increase more. So,if bitcoin gets legalized in other countries also, more retailers would accept bitcoin payments.

I think that sellers are afraid to take bitcoin because of its not too stable price and many will not so risk not to stay at a loss. It will be like a lottery and will be sold only by very rich sellers or those who are not afraid of losing money.

In my opinion, the high transaction costs currently seem to be a burden for bitcoin users to make purchases online and make payments using bitcoin services, not to mention the transaction process that requires boring confirmation.
And I think if there is change in bitcoin system improvements regarding the high cost of tax cost and the long delivery process of delivery confirmation of bitcoin, it will certainly increase the interest of buyers to make transactions using bitcoin services.

The government also does not speculate with payments that require several blocks of confirmation, maybe all transactions that have been sent can not be sliced but it would be a problem if retail supermarkets implement it on a large scale and turn out to be problematic, they also do not want business losses if one day the transaction confirmation can done quickly then they will no doubt with the application and payment of taxes.

It is possible for developed countries to know their average citizen is already familiar with bitcoin, so they easily receive payments with bitcoin.sedangkan countries, for example in my country people who know bitcoin maybe only about say 20%, and for bitcoin transactions may be only in the city While in the small town town bitcoin does not apply at all as a means of exchange of money.
Yes, in big cities, it is easy to push the use of bitcoins for common purpose because people are mostly quite modern and educated in cities whereas in towns, first we need to work hard to spread knowledge about bitcoins. The markets and businesses that have started bitcoins as payments are all from developed countries.

i don't think think having a big country or developed country has any significant connection regarding peoples awareness, acceptance and understanding about bitcoin.

i mean having a big city or a developed one doesn't the people who lived their are knowledgeable about technologies and open minded as well. if that is true then those big

countries would have accepted bitcoin like japan did.

I think for that topic was it take so may years to accept bitcoin.
First it was not yet known in some countries.
Second was the fee charge when sending bitcoin.
Lastly it takes time to confirm transaction.
But it was just i think/suggestion.

I think that for many sellers it will be unprofitable. Commission fees for fees are too high for small items and because of this, sellers can go to a loss or they will have to significantly increase the price, which will also scare off some buyers.
No one can go in loss with bitcoins. The retailers can even make more money with bitcoins then just by selling items in fiat. The increasing value of bitcoins will give them money many times more than the price of an item. So I believe the retailers should start accepting bitcoins as soon as possible.

More BTC sites are popping up everyday.  It won't be long now till it become a universal norm.
This is not surprising, bitcoin and gambling are a perfect combination, believe me casinos will like to accept players without having to go through the KYC but since they use fiat they need to obey the law, but when it comes to bitcoin they can accept anyone as long as you have some BTC so players and casinos benefit from bitcoin.

"Japan: No Bitcoin Tax, Thousands of Stores to Accept the Cryptocurrency"

article published July, 5, 2017
https://edgylabs.com/2017/07/05/japan-no-bitcoin-tax-stores-accept-cryptocurrency/

"AirRegi is a widely used, tablet-based point-of-sale app in Japan. Currently, around 260,000 establishments, stores, and commercial facilities use this proprietary app to accept payments from their clients."

It makes sense that a transition to accept bitcoin would be underway for more US-based stores.
Bitcoin will be accepted by more retailers if it will be legal to a certain country and generally speaking, to most countries. Retailers on a certian country will ofcourse, allow people to use Bitcoin as a mode of payment if it is legal. And also, retailers may also acvept Bitcoin due to public demand. They'll follow what's being asked by the customers because they want to earn.
Yes, legalization is the main obstacle in way of practicing bitcoins in daily life. Retailers do fear accepting payments because of illegal nature of bitcoins. I heard some people are so afraid of using bitcoins that according to them, using bitcoins can put them behind the bars.
It seems the propaganda is working, some people are so afraid to using bitcoin that they do not realize they are about to lose one of the greatest opportunities of their life, this is similar to the dot com bubble, there were many stocks that were not worth a thing but those that did make the holders rich.

This is what I really wait, bitcoin can be received directly in retailers. The easiest way for bitcoin to be received is that we have to introduce the bitcoin system to the retailer. During a bitcoin seminar, we can invite them to attend.

I'm guessing you do not own a business. I only use bitcoin and it has led to lower prices. I expect to pay 1-3% less if I use bitcoin. The businesses I work with have seen huge profits because of bitcoin. The fees on credit card transactions are high compared to bitcoin fees not the other way round. Not to mention the many rules about who you can deal with, what you can buy, where you can shop, the ever-changing contract terms, the penalties, gotcha-fees, the risk to your identity, the 2-180 day wait for clearing the transaction... You get the idea.

Even as we speak?
You are maybe forgetting that receiving bitcoins implies two fees.
The one the customers pays when they buy the product and then when you collect the payment from the multiple addresses used for payments.
For things that are sold under 20$ very merchant will go with the credit card.

As for the rules....you're forgetting that there is one rule . the customer is always right.
So as long as the customer prefers something, the seller will have to bow down.

Of course segwit might solve a few problems but we still have to see it fully implemented and in use.

When we demand it rather than constantly asking each other.  If everyone in this thread wrote to Amazon it might happen today.

Will they really do it with just votes? Considering the risk that it will take?
I read one of your comment about you working for a business which could transact thru bitcoin but still Amazon is a large company with so much to deal with. If bitcoin will be added to the payment option, will this really make them profit or could this lead for them to be bankrupt and suddenly close. Maybe they just don't want to make that bigger step and just trying to be safe for now.
Sorry I am pessimistic with this.

we do not need more retailers to accept bitcoin when the number of bitcoin users is still very small. What we need is that more and more people will get into bitcoin and use it as an investment first. Then, retailers can open a store which accepts bitcoi to attract them.

Indeed. What we need right now is the high demand of the bitcoin users. If the government will see the huge population of the users they will make an ordinance about it and when the legislative and the president signed up for this then that will be the time they implemented it to the merchants. Japan is a very good example to this, they have hundreds of merchants as well as bitcoin is legal here.

Off course. One thing follow another. When we have more demand for users to pay in bitcoin then we will have retailers to accept it. Japan is first to come with this and hope that will have better expansion of countries accepting it next year with maybe China and Russia as players in this. Possible some other countries as well can be joining it in this.
This is the start of the revolution of bitcoin for the world and the big countries already made a move and now it will be easier for the other countries to follow and accept bitcoin because they already saw that the big countries are doing it and as a country that it is in the modern world then there is nothing to waste in grabbing this opportunity (Cryptocurrency).

I think it still needs promotion. These countries that accepted btc are those that are open to change and progress like japan. If this is used and applied in smaller countries like thailand or he philippines, then more and more retailers would follow suit

I don't really see this will happen but if the price of bitcoin will be more stable i can see that  more retailers accept Bitcoin will happen. But as of now, i don't think casual people, whose not techy one , maybe will not consider this as a fancy thing, or maybe if bitcoin will be a trend a mainstream trend, for sure many people will bandwagon/fanatic of bitcoin, in that time i think more retailers will accept bitcoin.
