In my opinion, BTC and ETH are two potential e-currencies and are two good long-term investments. Apart from BTC, it's definitely just ETH. ETH will give investors great returns on long-term investment.
I personally chose Ontology as an alternative to Ether because ont token price is still under ten dollars and has a fairly large daily trading volume.
I highly recommend ethereum. altcoin is the best among the rest and has a great platform seta ICO use it a lot. demand for ethereum also increasingly grown and this, in the long run, will certainly lift the value of the ethereum in some time in the future. the development of the ethereum also bs seen in the chart is pretty good and certainly, these coins will be very potential for long-term investment.

I would advise you to invest in platforms, I believe that the future belongs to the platforms, so such projects as Ethereum, NEO, IOTA should be in your portfolio. And for self-selection of coins for your portfolio, I advise you to develop your strategy. I, for example, choose projects that I consider necessary in our life and make it easier.
I advise you to look at the anonymous coin PCN (Daps). She already showed good growth thanks to the new team but I think there will be even more growth by the end of the year! I bought it for 6 Satoshi.

For long term I think Ethereum is a good choice . It is stable like bitcoin , but it usually grows faster then btc , so it will give you more profits . All other projects have uncertain future and have much bigger investment risks , imo . But if you are looking for bigger potential profits you can invest in EOS , Cardano or NEO , they have brilliant perspectives and they worth our attention too .
Since market is not so stable, I think, aside bitcoin, you can prefer ICOs to invest for short term. But you have to be calculative to choose the best ICO that will return your expected profit. And obviously you have to understand that which project is real and which is fake. By investing in a good ICO for a short term, I believe you can earn a good volume of profit. My preference is something like green technology related ICOs that safe to do investment.
With respect to other people's opinion about altcoins not being a good long-term investment, I personally disagree.
If you find good alts with strong fundamentals (like good team, community, technology and use case) it would be wise to invest a part of your money on it. Altcoins like ETH, stratis, NEM or waves would be good choices, but always do your own research.
Other choices like real estate or gold also exist too for sure, and they are popular for long term investment.

I personally invested my money into the following projects because I truely believe in them and personally find them to be great projects. But invest at your own risk. Remember, this is my personally preference for long term holding.
1. Cardano (ADA) - My favorite of them all.
2. Pundi X (NPXS) - Love the project and the monthly free airdrops (7.316% in 2018, 2.11637% in 2019 and 0.88187% in 2020) for those that HODL tokens in their respective wallets.
3. Sirin Labs (SRN) - Great potential to being the next Samsung/Apple in the crypto/blockchain space.
4. Ethereum (ETH) - One of the best and safest altcoins out there.
5. ICON (ICX) - Undervalued project with huge potential.

If i had to choose one, I would say etherum currently. There are a lot of great coins out there right now, but that one is most promising at the moment.

Apart from the bitcoin, you should be looking to invest in the ICO's where the project is expected to give you good returns into your wallet. Long-term investors are mostly interested in investing their hard earned money in ICO projects like Domuscoins, Neocoin, Railblocks, Siacoin, Bitshares etc which is having high demand and value in their respective sector and even today they are performing well in their work. I myself personally have invested in cryptocurrency like Neocoin, Railblocks, and Monero as these coins are preforming really nice and they are expected to reach so many heights. If interested you can also to invest money in Cloud mining project.
Other than Bitcoin, you could invest in strong altcoin for the long term. I am positive about ETH and Neo future, both are very good and strong altcoin.

maybe you should try ethereum whose graph shows stability and has a very good up trend potential, if not try deeponion it has a dev, community and very good features even very much to use it in the future. or try their kora network tokens just reached hardcap before the ICO finish and this is a very good project for the future, hopefully my 3 answers can be your reference
well, I think you should invest your money on ethereum. It is the second largest coins on the market cap and it has a great roadmap. Soon, no one can mine ethereum because it will become a POS coin. This event can make a huge pump on the price of ethereum because people want to hold ethereum to earn extra ethereum

All people in this forum including me absolutely will recommend ETH for long term investment. Due to as all known ETH have high trading volume and so many people enthusiast with this Coin. ETH in coinmarketcap was ranked 2nd after Bitcoin. And also the average payment of an ICO using ETH as the main altcoin. So for sure if you want to have long term investment you should hold ETH too.
my advice is to invest in Ethereum, because I think investing in Ethereum is very profitable and will give you a big profit.
