if I were you I'll go for more stable coins in the market, for obvious reason, they have volume platform and community support and of course you can liquidate anytime you want, it's big gambling investing in ICO now.

if I have $ 1k - $ 2k in funds I will buy some coins that are holding an event or coint that has the potential to rise high or has a good prospect

I joined to cryptocurrency field in 2016 and first time i invested my capital money to ethereum, Ark, XRP, Amp, and Btc. So after one year all thats coins stated there journey and i profited 35000$ in 2017. But now market was crash and we can't recommend any coins with this bad marketing condition.

I was about to suggest you with ETH, BTC, XRP, XLM and USDT. Always set a minimum profit threshold, choose the coin who h has good growth trend and a good volume.

Well ETH and BTC are always the top coin to invest in. During November/December 2018 the value of ETH was somewhere around less than $90 and if you had invested around $1000 - $2000 then and decided to sell yesterday when the price of 1 ETH was almost $163 per one, you would have made some profit by now. It is never still late and always better to use an every single opportunity to buy the dip, but before then carry out extensive research so you won't be at lose...

Remove XRP from your list,because it is definitely not a coin to invest by anyone.The people will who invested on it will get regret later when the other crypto currencies prices were going to moon.So the coin like bitcoin,ethereum,litecoin,Monero,NEM Waves and there are lot of good coins available to invest.
