Being the first cryptocurrency has helped bitcoin gain popularity. Also the media mentions from the likes of Fox, CNN, BBC ...etc has helped bitcoin become more popular. Also the way the price sky rocketed in just 7 years have made it very popular among investors.
No central control over bitcoin by any state, community or person makes it valuable. Why should we entrust centralized agencices or governments when we can have this power in our own hands? I love blockchain!
As you said, Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency. Some of the coins rising today are modeled after Bitcoin. Some coins have been a scam and spreading ponzi scheme. So what a better way is to invest with the original and first Bitcoin. Though, some of these coins have wonderful purpose and function like ETH, Bitcoin is still the best considering the struggles that it went through.
I believe that they're popular mainly because well it was the first of all cryptocurrencies to be made. Honestly most of the other coins are scams and greedy ways that the developers make money. The only other coin I can think of that isn't a scam are dogecoins! What do you think?
I guess this question is not necessary we already know that bitcoin is the most popular but why? I guess the only reason is because it is the original and it is the first or in short the origin of all of this cryptocurrency we already know that bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency so probably no doubt about it it is the first one to become successful in some ways that why it has cost a lot in all of time and the number one because basically the other are just alternative token or in short just a copy of bitcoin.Aside from being the first made cryptocurrency, the BTC is being popular of its different characteristics. Bitcoin is buzzing all around news and media, and might seem to be the future of finances. At this point, you almost can't argue that this technology is yet to shine and just like any groundbreaking know-how it needs time to be figured out and being implemented. You're right. One of the reasons why is it's the most popular is because it is the first ever cryptocurrency. Also because it took time before altcoins emerged, that's why for a long time Bitcoin has the spotlight, getting all the media attention. But it's slowly changing now as altcoins are getting better and better.
I guess this is not the case, this is not just whose being the first, it is a matter of how strong and well develop this technology is, that is being gathered numerous support from devs and users.

I agree with your point.Bitcoin is famous because of it price. Bitcoin is the king of altcoin because of price .1 BTC = 5700$.Not even a single altcoin reach the value of 1000$.So bitcoin reaches fives time of the highest price which was not even reached by any coin.
