Back on topic, I think that what OP is not taking into account is the fact that in different countries there are different legislations and cultures are different too. I don't even play there, but I memorised their names because they are all day advertising them. So gambling here is seen as normal and most users aren't demonised the way the OP reports, although we should never forget there risks this activity implies if one does not behave in a restrained manner.

And that is also why underage children can buy lottery tickets because they can ask adults they know well to buy them.

People keep gambling to get the biggest win, even if it's only once. And if they lose, it's okay for them because they will return another day. But we don't need to follow them to gamble and we don't need to follow their lifestyle that wants luxury, especially if the money comes from gambling. We better prepare for a better future and save money by investing.

Nobody said that nobody should involved in gambling themselves on the forum, they are warning people to know what is ahead, and that's 90percent loss and 10 percent wins, you will lose more than you win in gambling, this is not too hard to understand. People need to gamble responsibly to avoid taking their own lives when there is too much loan and debts on their necks, in today's environment, no one will know that you are into gambling because you can easily gamble online, they might start knowing when things starts looking bad for you, that's if you are living with family and friends.

What I really noticed is that they are just trying their luck at something like the lottery so that it can change their lives, though if we are talking about having debts and financial problems and still gambling, then that is really the problem because there are people thinking that it will be solved by gambling because they are thinking that they will win and that will solve their problem, which is when the problem starts, and that is when you'll struggle more.

It's exactly the same with other bad habits which can and do bring people and their physical health to states of complete and utter ruin. Such as alcohol and smoking. People always tell you to avoid it, yet they still do it.

I guess it's about making a sacrifice to enjoy something that you like. Either way, nothing lasts forever, so why not indulge, as long as you don't overdo it?

But it still really hard not to overdo it for some folks out there, gambling is part of fun alright but the negative effect when you overdo it is really damaging and I don't think I would advice anyone to indulge in gambling but if you feel you want to have with gambling like the way I do now then following a strategic plan for this will help keep you in check to know if actually you are going wild with your gambling habits.

So this leads to another conclusion that why people gamble is because they do not listen to the ones who were telling them to limit the gambling activities or even quit them if they are making excessive losses.

We need to understand why gambles do not want to listen to the advices given to them. If you give an a good advice to anyone, they will always listen to you but don't know why gambles won't agree with anyone who says that gambling is wrong. Gamblers always feel that gambling is right no matter they win or lose in gambling.

Is there a need to be any mystery other than the potential of getting very high wins sometimes? There are two categories of gamblers, one has those gamblers who play only for fun and don't care if they lose the money they are using because they can afford to lose it, and the other category consists of the gamblers who gamble to earn money and the money they use most of the times isn't spare money and they can't afford to lose it but they do.

Gamblers from the second category are always in trouble because they either borrow money or spend money that is their own or someone else's but they can't lose it because it is needed for something and they mostly lose and then tensions start building up, some even commit suicide as we've seen in a thread in the forum recently where a boy committed suicide after losing his school fees in gambling.

There is no mystery behind gambling, people are attracted to anything with rewards because in their eyes the reward is the return to accumulating more holdings. Broadly speaking, gambling encourages a person or people who are highly self-motivated to try their luck. But believe it or not, the fact is that we all experience this and admit that gambling is difficult to avoid, both young and old, now almost 90% is contaminated with gambling. I think that all these cries are about people that can`t stop. And with such restrictions the government tries to stop losers from gambling.
I don`t have such problems and i don`t know somebody in real life who loses all his money for gambling, so i don`t think that gambling is something bad. Just stop gamblers that can`t stop right time and don`t touch the others.

• To win big
• To get rich
• To have entertainment
• To ease stress and bad mood
• To get along with friends who do gamble
• To join up the trend or something that he sees on surroundings
• To chase their losses
• Simply addicted

Everything would really be depending on someones approach on whats the reason on why they do gamble. Some would really be that mindful about
their steps and decisions whether it is really going to good path or bad. So it does vary on how a particular person would really be taking up such step
and decisions made.

There are lots of lists why people gamble. The general reason is as you stated but do you know there are tons more reasons why people gamble? Like, when someone wanted approval from others. As in the need to belong to a group. Another thing is to accomplish a lifelong dream regarding gambling. While others gamble because they wanted to escape pressure from society and they find gambling as a way to avoid pressure that is caused by those expectations. Other keep on gambling because they wanted to prove to themselves that gambling result is manipulated and the player wanted to bust the casino by proving and revealing it.

It wasn't really like gambling is a bad thing, It's perfectly fine to gamble you just need to be disciplined and know your limitation on it, know how much you can lose, and when to stop gambling. I didn't gamble anymore but sometimes I bet on NBA games that will win my friends and family just to have the thrill and fun, It wasn't a big amount so it's okay to lose and if I win then I guess I make money anyway.

Gambling in my opinion is for fans and entertainment so its perfectly fine to gamble occasionally since we just wanted sometimes to have fun and get enjoyment, Most parents have a terrible image of gambling just because there are a lot of gambling addicts that destroy their life on gambling but it wasn't actually bad since you just want to have fun right?

We all wanted to have fun sometimes, and probably at the same time win, whereas not actually someone that wants to gamble every day to change their life betting his entire life saving to win.

So in this case, if you can't control yourself, the addiction will enter, compulsive gamblers may experience a loss of control, prioritize gambling over other responsibilities, and continue despite negative consequences, including financial losses which is pretty bad.

Best thing that would explain this, is money. Only few people are really enjoying gambling and mostly are into profit as we all know. Despite of one's losses, he would continue if he's too hooked up with the idea that he's close to winning bigtime. Indeed it has psychologically related. Think of an individual who have lost $200 and experienced winning $50. It would more likely sink into him that he's close to getting back with his losses so he would continue playing, and eventually be losing a bigger amount. He'd be aware of it but will still continue simply because the idea of winning motivates him to do so. For sure we are all aware of how risk works in this activity but we still engage into it.

Aside from that some people wanted to have a life-changing win that can remove them from poverty or problem with future finances. So they tend to gamble such as buying tickets for lotteries and other gambling activities that can give them a chance for a jackpot price. It is the allure for huge money that keep them enticed on gambling.

It has been proven fallacy but then many gambling still insist on believing that if they are in a series of losses, they will eventually win because they think their luck is due and so they keep on chasing winnings until they hit the wins but they don't stop there.
