Who said Altcoin is not important? Altcoin has popular and potential coins like Ethereum, EOS, Ripple etc. Maybe it didn't reach the level of bitcoin in terms of volume and popularity. But it has a huge contribution in the crypto market. And some day may be in near future it will reach the level of bitcoin.

It is very natural for competition to exist in a market, the same goes for the market of crypto currency. Competition will exist between bitcoin and ALT coin. But it cannot be said which will dominate in the future. If the alt coins provides better facility then it will be successful. But even this will take time as most people only recognizes Bitcoin.

Even though the price of altcoins is not as high than bitcoin, I think some of them have proven their importance in the crypto industry. Look at ethereum, the most supported altcoin in terms of ICO projects. Some projects even only accepts buying token through eth only.

In my opinion, altcoins are already as important as bitcoin, they make up a bigger part of the market right now and people are more inclined to invest in altcoins because they stand to get more ROI from investing in altcoins now than they would if they invested in just bitcoin alone. Without altcoins then trading in the market would not be possible.

Altcoins will be always under bitcoin, this is fact.

Altcoin is not competition, alt are something like bitcoin child. Bitcoin is a god which created these all smaller coins so he can not be beat.

Look on market now, bitcoin falling so all altcoins doing this same. Bitcoin is controling every altcoin and it will be for a long time anyway

First of all, you talk about altcoins as if they were one single thing and that's not the case. There are more than a thousand altcoins, counting tokens. Among these, some are and will be important but don't delude yourself thinking that any of these altcoins will have the importance of bitcoin because it will not be like that. If someone thinks that there is some altcoin that can be something like the new bitcoin, he is wrong.

Basically there are 2 types of digital assets - tokens (as company stocks) and coins (as BTC, LTC , BCH and etc.). So, coins are more in demand and I think there is going to be an altcoin that will overtake Bitcoin in market cap, maybe it will be Ethereum...

Sounds like asking if a child will be as important as the parent. The truth is that it may tarry but if the team has good plan and ways of working it out, I see some altcoin taking over the center stage. After all, Bitcoin was brought together by a team and a better idea may just pop up in someone’s head and before you it what is happening something better than Bitcoin will emerge and we will all go like wow!

I honestly think some may be just as important, if not more important depending on adoption. 95% or more of the current coins will be gone in 2-5 years but the ones that actually succeed will be valued.
