Yes as what have you said, we never know which will take the lead in the future. For me, bitcoin is still the leader in crypto. But there's so many promising projects that needs attention from investors to make it to the next level. and also, investing in ico is a good idea as the price is not so high but the risk factor is too high. I think for now no one will can say that some coin beat the bitcoin because bitcoin is best and major coin now and more investor attract bitcoin. The bitcoin is much proven in this industry of crypto world. 
Investing in ICO's is one thing to make an advantage position for the investors because in just a couple of the month your future is bright and will lead you a modest life but you have to be very careful investing ICO's. A lot of altcoins that are really have a good project and have a good future that we can expect to beat bitcoin in the future but for me I think its harder to beat bitcoin because it is the most popular coin,the most trusted coin and the most valuable coin in the market today.
It possible to happen but i think Bitcoin will be top to all because it is the most trusted and most valuable coin. Also i think its difficult to beat bitcoin because many people are getting interested everyday and its demand is continues growing. Maybe some of coin will be rise there value like bitcoin but cannot beat it.
I think it's very unlikely that any other crypto currency can bitcoins in future as bitcoins popularity and demand are very high and tough to beat.And once people gets use to bitcoin switching to any other coins can be hard.

No in my opinion this is not possible till further time bitcoin is top coin and have very high rate and it's rate increases everyday not decreases.

In the future, nothing is yet known, maybe bitcoin will be modified and it will be able to bypass many or vice versa will be its growth and it will remain at the top. The main thing now is to believe in what you have invested and wait for your time to make a profit. 
I don't think there is a cryptocurrency that is legit enough to beat bitcoin while bitcoin is still wearing the crown as the king of all cryptos. That may be possible if bitcoin is already gone in the future so another altcoin should take over.

Yes it will, but you have to make a lot of research about the ICO that you like to invest in, because there are some ICO's that are really attractive to invest because of their promising platforms. But they just came to scam people and to get the money they've got from those people who invented on them.
