Ripple will probably establish itself as number two as ethereum is not doing well at all. ETH is going to continue it's downwards trend while people switch to NEO and ADA. This means ripple will retain the number 2 spot but unlikely to surpass bitcoin
nope ripple will not be number one cryptocurrency before end of the year, why do you think ripple be number one?, for me ripple is the one of the best transferring money because of the low fee.

This is possible but too ambitious to think that ripple will dethrone bitcoin in the cryptocurrency ranking considering that the marketcap has been dominated by bitcoin. This ripple can't overtake bitcoin as most investors will not put their money in a centralized currency with huge circulating supply. Although I'm not closing door for ripple to make it but it's a big challenge to the developer of ripple. I will let them walk the talk.
I don't think so. Ripple do not has that perspective, that ethereum had. And top coins of the market would not to change every months, you know.

XRP will not be able to shift bitcoin into number 1 coins in the marketcap because bitcoin is the initial history of cryptocurrency, when we talk about digital assets, what we have in mind is bitcoin is not XRP or ETH, even though XRP is able to shift ETH in number 2, but no able to shift bitcoin, many investors are turning to XRP because the price of coins is still cheap.

I doubt of such thing to happen. Ripple have made something surprising this year. Despite of the negativity in the market, it has manage to surpass ethereum for being next to Bitcoin. But replacing Bitcoin as the topmost crypto would be a huge thing, meaning, such thing could not be possible since Bitcoin is way bigger than ETH, and XRP.

Never make such emotional statements again. The current market cap of XRP is temporarily overtaking ETH, and to surpass the BTC is unlikely because the BTC market cap is huge, up to $ 96 billion while the XRP is just $ 19 billion. , so XRP passing BTC in 2018 is never going to happen.
Bitcoin maximalists will hardly sit and watch any other coin become the number coin especially with the accusations that it is a centralized coin and really has not place in the crypto space. While I think it will come close to being no. 1, especially as it's overthrown ETH on the no. 2 spot.

I am not sure about the end of this year but soon it will be rocking. It is maintaining 3rd position from last few months and it has moved to second position now (although it is not the first time that xrp is at 2nd position, xrp is unable to maintain 2nd position), it will take some time for xrp to cross the gap of 77 Billion dollars with BTC to reach at the top position. Upward movement from xrp and downward movement from BTC will be helpful to be number one crypto currency by minimizing CMC distance.
I think that in 2019 there will be a real fight for the number 2 spot. So far ethereum has managed to fend off the competition, but they might not be able to do it for long
That is right but I think let suppose that if ETH recovered, it will not be a fight anymore. The recovery is not impossible because we have seen such situation in other coins before as well so it would recover soon.

i am an avid hodler of Ripple and i believe that this currency can go far. It has a lot of potential and can outgrow current rankings. Now to answer your question, i do not think that it can happen by the end of the year nor in the next year. This is just my personal speculation but things can happen anytime and we are not sure where can this lead us.
