I think it is impossible. bitcoin users will do a massive protest. the government does not have the authority. because bitcoin is independent and bitcoin is a transparent thing.

Well im all against privacy loss in any way. But in times of facebook and giving with your own free will your shoe number with the rest of your privacy people just don't care that much. They will in future, when there will be tipping point of privacy loss, point of no return.
This is sad but this is the way it must be coz humans are humans ; }

They are not welcome to have a look in mine. If i make crazy profits then I'll pay my taxes. Other than that no.

I think there will be no any problem for me if I show my wallet to the government, as my government is not a thief they take care of their public and their taxes is for us to run our country.
Which government is that then?

i dont actually think that it would be a good thing to show governments your wallets, people like anonymity and they wouldnt be too excited if they had to show their wallet someone

i think i wouldnt allow the government do that, first of all they wouldnt know if i have bitcoin wallet and if i have bitcoins in it so i could just say that my wallet is empty

Hire me for your campaign management.
The governments are already keeping a view on our money in the banks where a largest amount of our wealth is lying, then what will they do when they keep a view on our bitcoins? I think just like banks they will provide security to our bitcoins and then we will not fear to put all of our money in bitcoin.

I think I wont be giving government to see my wallet, the reason i used bitcoin is to stay anonymous to everybody, so if i let someone to see then i dont see any point to use bitcoin again, i rather to use fiat if that case really happen in future

The government already has the access to all your transactions, blockchain is open for everyone. The small problem is to find out what transactions are your, but believe me it is not a big problem. Using bitmixer complicates the task, but not so...

I've got nothing to hide so if the tax organization wants to look they can look. Simply they are in their right to do so. Paying taxes is a debt in this society which even we bitcoiners can't escape.
Yes it would be uncomfortable and wrong but if they got the law with them, resistance is futile. It will get you end up in jail or worse jail and penalties.
Bad attitude. You should take a look at your personal message and try to live by it more.  Resistance is futile...  Satoshi would be rolling in his grave.

What I am doing with my Bitcoin and where I am keeping it is my own business. Isn't this the whole purpose of Bitcoin in the first place? For people to be free of government watchdogs looking over your every step and spying on you every single day? But I guess Bitcoin getting legalized will mean getting it centralized as well and then unfortunately the government will have the legal right to audit your private Bitcoin wallets for tax purposes. But until then we can still enjoy our privacy or whatever is left of it...

I would not give the government direct access to my wallet's, not that they need it in the US.
IMHO, BTC is like cash if you really want to know where it came from you can figure it out, If you have enough time and money

But with BTC being pseudo Anonymous it is already possible to piece together some of the trail that tell who's address is who's.
Though there has to be a decent amount of activity in order for the pattern to emerge.
An old interesting article about it https://www.technologyreview.com/s/518816/mapping-the-bitcoin-economy-could-reveal-users-identities/

I am sure someone will have some other ideas but if you want your BTC to stay anonymous you need multiple wallet's and a reliable mixing service.

but to me if they have a direct access to my local band account. then ok no problem. i am a good citizen and i have to follow all the rules and regulation of the state under the law. therefore i think i have no objection if they have direct access to my account.

I don't have problem with that thing as long as they only monitor transaction hash, address of sender and receiver, and amount except they start to ask my reason behind my transaction. My name also not a problem because government have known about my name and my home address. I don't think government can get something from monitoring bitcoin address except my money. That thing can also reduce scamming problem on bitcoin.

Exactly. We must understand that in some country, there is a law applied to all banks or any financial institution. We called it here Anti Money Laundering Act. If bitcoin was supposed to be anonymous, it's a must for a government to at least some info of your saved coins.

They will not disclose the amount, that's one thing for sure. All in all it's all about security purposes.

In the coming days when the government will legalize bitcoin and puts up regulatory rules and policies on the use of bitcoins it is a prerogative of the government to monitor the bitcoin transactions as well as your bitcoin wallet. For how many years bitcoin has been operating outside the hands of the government and many illegal operations especially in the black market is taking place without being traced. This coming events may be helpful to the stability of bitcoins in its operation and security.

Not if it is unnecessary. I prefer to maintain my privacy.
If not disclosing bitcoins becomes illegal, I would probably play safe and disclose them.

How can they trace me if i will not exchange the bitcoin for fiat money through exchange or any other service that is/will be  controlled by government. Even though they can look on my bitcoin wallet they are free to search into it, I'm not afraid as long as i don't made anything illegal.

The best feature of Bitcoin is that's anonymous ; so i wouldn't give the government details about my wallet address, and i don't think that it will easy mission for governments to check wallet address of their citizens.

yeah. it should take long to check all of citizens' wallet.

I myself wouldn't give access to my wallet to anyone except 1 man.

it was a stupid thing. bitcoin is anonymous if I let the government see it certainly would not have got it anonymous. I do not care about the government bans or legalization
