No one will be proud as a child to see his or her mother in this situation. If I ever see my mother in this state, I will feel like a failure as her child. If I am unable to provide for her, it will be a total shame for her to engage in such behaviour. I'm not sure how others will react to this, but it seems very inappropriate and disappointing to me. As a mother, I will be ashamed, and as a child, I will be ashamed to see my mother in a gambling place at her age. This isn't so much about age as it is about lack of provision for your mum that will lead to this.

Here is not uncommon to see people of that age partaking in both gambling and also betting, specially when we talk about small towns where there is no much to do besides betting and watching sport matches. Though, I must personally say that I would not feel comfortable seeing neither of my parents becoming a dedicated gambler, because of both health and also economical reasons.
Here in my country health can be expensive and not easy to access, so there are more than enough motivations for not liking my parents engaging in those activities.

In the other hand, if we were talking about a person who is economically comfortable, because they have a business of any kind, and their health is very good for their age, then I would say there is no much problem for them to engage in betting or gambling, as long as they do it responsibly and do not feel later regrets on their decisions.

Also, it catches my attention the way that woman is dressed. It is an outfit I would not personally expect to see here in my country.

That was impossible in my family, because my parents did not gamble, in fact they were the ones who strongly opposed gambling. So they are the ones who always feel worried if they see their children like gambling. they were quite worried because there was an incident where one of my brothers really liked gambling and felt addicted to gambling itself, so it destroyed his career and now he no longer has a job or income, so now to be able to fulfill his needs, he also wants to gamble. , he no longer hesitates if he has to sell his personal belongings. And that was just the initial suffering, and this suffering and destruction continued, where because his wife could no longer bear to see his behavior, he decided to go home and live with his parents. Meanwhile, not only household relationships are damaged, but relationships with parents and relatives are also damaged.

It was a series of events that really made my parents worry about me. So now, when I go home, I don't dare to gamble in front of them.

Initially, I would be worried because it's easy for someone to spend more than they can afford and ruin their financial situation. On the other hand, it depends on the way she spends her money on gambling, and i'd say i'm more on the comfortable side, as I used to go with them to buy lottery tickets on certain occasions. Also, my parents are very aware of how destructive gambling can become, and they always try to tell me how one of their acquaintances became addicted to gambling, so I probably don't need to be concerned whenever I see them gamble.

From a cultural and environmental viewpoint, women who gamble, regardless of age, are not viewed favorably in my hometown because women are expected to stay at home, take care of their families, and cook. Consequently, it will be presumed that any mother or daughter found in a gambling house is not a responsible lady.

The disadvantage to this, is that families whose mother or sister is found in a gambling house will be assumed as having a negligent character as a lady. that might potentially damage the family's reputation, which would prevent their daughters from getting married when they should have due to what people have seen the mother of that family doing.

Depends on her case.
If she's just gambling or playing to kill time then that would be fine but if she's betting that much and consuming big amount of money then I'd probably stop or limit her if I could. Elderly people need things to still be able to enjoy or be entertained  while they're on stay with their family and that could include gambling. In my country it is a normal thing to see elders gambling but just with small amounts. They often play with their friends and sometimes relatives. Everything's too much is a bad thing which is applicable to anyone regardless of age.

I don't know why age matters in gambling, or is being concerned of some people here. The fact that we do all the same thing and still has no plan of quitting as early as now, then we should allow them to do so. Proper management of funds is essential in gambling in order to avoid huge loss and addiction afterwards.

At a certain old age, the regulations seem to have become loose and the law easily forgives the elderly because their time is like a lamp gradually running out of its last drops of oil, even if they do gamble more, there are only reminders and requests for their children and grandchildren to monitor them more closely and in this respect, encourage relatives to care for and warm up their feelings more towards the elderly. In the future and from an ethical perspective as well as creating blessings, perhaps there will be some small rules to make gambling and the elderly become strangers, not to get too close as it can easily have a negative impact.

I came across this pictures or images on Twitter yesterday night while I was just passing time on the app, and going through the comment section on that tweet, I practically had a hard time breathing well due to laughter.
I actually saved up the pics and was going to post about this here today, but I completely forgot and coming to this board now, I realized another user had indeed seen the same thing and have posted it.

The pics shared on this post are already cropped, I have the full pictures on my phone currently as I am typing, and I can tell you that, they  are way more hilarious than this ones, but as much as this is very funny, I still took pity at this women at the end of my laughter.

For me, it will be totally unacceptable to watch my mother, of this age engage herself in gambling all because she needed money, if she was gambling as a way for her to just have fun and make the day wind up faster, I did very much understand, but if her reason for gambling is because she needs money, and would end up frustrated as this woman when she loses her money instead of winning more, then, I honestly will not allow her engage herself in gambling.

From my own perspective, I will not be comfortable seeing my mother or grandmother or any other elderly person from my family gambling in such a way and in the public eyes. No matter how things has turned to be this time around, gambling is highly rated as an unethical business in my country and those who are involved in it how with less respect in the society. Why I have this feeling is because I am not that much involved in gambling this time around, and again I believe that when someone is going extreme in gambling it is the mother or the grandmother or in some cases the wife who will have to call them back and tell them to be moderated. But if the person that is supposed to caution you when you are going extreme in gambling is the one that is involved in gambling know that things are not right.

I like the perspective you are coming. This is a free world and in the premise of freedom anyone can do whatever they wish they do in as much as it does not affect their neighbors. If your mom and Grandma gamble and they do not do it in such a way that you bring shame to the farm only there is not in wrong with it. Let's believe that they are having fun and as well trying out their luck to be rich from gambling.

If I may be honest and from a realistic mind I really feel worried about the situation that looks very concerning, maybe there are some places around the world that think that the situation is normal, in the sense that gambling by the elderly has become a familiar thing, but for myself, especially in my place, I honestly never saw the elderly involved in gambling, although maybe it cannot be denied that there might be one who does it but overall considering that gambling activities in my country are very illegal it makes it quite unlikely that the popularity of an elderly person to be involved in this activity.

On the other hand, perhaps as we know that overall it is usually young people who are more and more often involved in gambling, maturity of thinking can also be one of the influential factors, which is usually an elderly or over 40 years of age is very mature in responding to anything, they will only do something that seems reasonable and reasonable, while in gambling it is about winning and losing which always depends on luck to win and if they are unlucky then they will lose money. So in conclusion, I think one of the reasons why not many elderly people are involved in gambling is because they have a very mature mindset so that it makes them less interested in choosing / doing something that does not have any certainty. On the other hand, this situation is indeed worrying and the fear is that they end up with addiction.

Regardless of age, we'll see people at all ages that can be at a betting shop except the minors. Or even minors but they're accompanied by their parents. What I think with these articles is that whoever is going to be their content and subject of the article, they're going to do it. They'll know a bit of the story behind why they are there and any reaction that they'll have, they will have it covered. So, these things are said to be common and nothing new to get amazed of. I wouldn't get into their affairs as their money is being the one gambled for and it's their rules to do anything with it as they wish.

But in the article, it says she was crying after losing an amount of money. I wouldn't be worrying if she wasn't crying and was just tired. One scenario I could think of is that the money she wagered is meant for something else and that going home would be trouble for her. She just lost an amount that isn't hers.

I am still in wonder about how people deduce the thought system that anybody gambling, that is, if they regularly see you walk into a gambling agent  shop to gamble they just believe you are jobless, useless and have nothing meaningful to do your time. But same people who has this assumption towards gamblers they know are still the same people that will run after you to request for money if they hear you have won a pool amount of cash from your bet.

It is for this mediocre behaviours of people that I don't bother myself about what others think or say about me walking into a gamble shop to gamble because tomorrow should fortune smile at me it is same people that will be praising me just so they can have a pinch of my winning money.

As gamblers let's learn to not mind what names people are calling us, our priority should be on gambling responsibly while we hope for the big win someday. Most of those people criticizing for gambling are also secretly doing some other thing very immoral and worse than gambling but they won't tell us.

Mate times are really hard that some persons doing even know where else to scout for money from and they had to fall back to gambling in the hopes that their lucky star may shine and bring them a live changing win from one of their many bets, and the elderly are not exempted in this.

My level of comfortability will be based on how long she has been gambling. If she just picked up gambling after a life-changing event then I will not be comfortable seeing her gamble. I will be embarrassed if she does sports betting. It should not be seen of a woman particularly a married woman with grown up kids. Casino games like slots are more within my range of comfortability. Lastly, if she is gambling responsibly and it is not is affecting her duty to her husband, family, kids, career, and service to others in the community. All of these must and should happen online or offline when the family is together and we go vacationing.

i think there's nothing wrong with that. for all we know, that grandmother is just passing her time to this kind of entertainment. however, i can understand if people have negative stigma when it comes to gambling in public especially for an old woman. we are used to seeing the grandmother at home just doing her own chores and not gambling. but who are we to judge about someone else's pastime? right?


i guess, we just need to mind our own business on this aspect. worry, if the grandmother is creating a scene to the public and using someone else's money. this is the problem in our society. women should not be seen in public when it comes to gambling. but if you see a grandfather doing the same, people will just ignore him as it is like a usual scenario. so why not an old woman can have her pastime like this?

Didn't you see how frustrated the woman is.looking? I don't have the heart to see any elderly person in that manner because obviously it's look that she lost and her money is gone and worry how to get the money back. I saw her video on X some days ago and I was bothered, elderly people should have something more to do other than just gambling. I read here how someone collapse when he won a game from gambling and from the discussion, it seems old age was one of the factors why collapse.

Online or offline, I will not allow them to bet but if money is not involved, then I will let her be and do her thing for the fun. There was one old man that was addicted to gambling to the point where he was using the monthly money sent to him by the children for gambling and this is just one of the ways that lead to such. Addiction with old people is always embarrassing and I wouldn't go through that route.

I will not be happy if she does that all the time but if it is once in a while, then that wouldn't be a problem because it shows that she is a responsible gambler and there will no side effect.

From the look of this woman in the bet shop, it shows that she is not a responsible gambler because she has gambled with more than the amount that she can afford to lose and that is why you can see her thinking and frustrated that she cannot even leave the bet shop. I will not be happy if such person is my grandma because it can have big effect on her health. Old people don't need much thinking to avoid high blood pressure.

I will be worried if I found my mother became a dedicated gambler, I never saw her gamble ever since I was young then all of a sudden she became a dedicated gambler.  I am not worry about the money she will spent, money can be earned but the effect of those frustrations of losing to her health will be worrying.  We all know frustration and stress can lead to depression especially when the person is heavily affected by his activities.  Depression if not treated well can kill or cause mental problem.

So as much as possible, if the situation happens, I will try to talk to her and convince her to gamble responsibly and don't get disappointed if she had losing streak, I will tell her that it is normal in gambling.  

That's something we don't want to happen to our mother, our mother is the light of our home if she prioritizes gambling, then the whole family will disintegrate, we have to show compassion to our mother and ask her to come to be our mother, I'm sure the mother within her will listen.

It's not good seeing your mother staying in a betting station for a long time, people will think that she is an irresponsible mother and the family will be put to shame so if we have a mother like this, the whole family should work to get her back as a mother of the family, I'm glad that mother does not like gambling and she is a very responsible mother.

It is very intriguing in several cases about elderly women involved in the world of gambling, of course I am worried or uncomfortable seeing things like that, maybe if this happened to my grandmother, maybe I should do something for him so that he stops and repents, maybe with his age only days in this world can be counted.

I've seen things like that in my country, there have also been grandmothers caught carrying out gambling activities in certain casinos, to be honest, I'm not comfortable seeing them doing that, In fact, they should show good ethics to their grandchildren, not the other way around, they are the ones living a messy life.
