There are no winners yet. the decline occurred in the crypto market. but when viewed from the number of holders this year, bitcoin is the winner. bitcoin greatly affects crypto market conditions.

Recently, I was thinkig. Is there really any reason for the BTC to be the market leader? The only thing that is giving the value to BTC is pretty much the fact, that it was the first crypto currency. It is the grandfather of all cryptos. But we know it has its flaws... It was never designed for broad usage, it has scaling issues and so on.
On the other hand, we were given ETH. The Crypto Kitties or w/e the awesome internet meme ETH appliction is called showed us, that ETH network has issues with high amounts of usage. BUT, 90% of all altcoins are based on the ERC-20 standard, brought to us by ETH. The smart contracts using the Solidity are extremly good piece of technolgy.
So my question is. Do you think, that BTC will keep its leadership, or will ETH be the winner of this year and surpass its ancestor?

The market has given you the best answer. The price of ETH has fallen by more than 25% in two months. Its current price is only $256, and Bitcoin is still the king!
like many people think, bitcoin will continue to lead this year even the following years. currently ethereum is in a very bad condition, it will not be possible to beat bitcoin.
Bitcoin will still lead for few years later, although eth necessary right now with the clever contract that's still can't make it pass over eth, behind that eth will chased by neo with the same function.
I think Bitcoin is still a winner because it is still a coin that people like, even though the Ethereum Network is currently making more transactions at a higher speed than bitcoin, 99% of alternative coins are based on the Ethereum network, judging from the use of course ethereum is far better than bitcoin, but now it's too early to talk about winners, because launching a new network means there will be more opportunities and situations can change at any time.
Now we all know that BTC is the most stable coin om market. ETH lost a lot of their capitalization and BTC dominance more than 53% . This is first time since middle of the 2017 year. We can say 2018 this is BTC year cause altcoins lost most of their capitalization from 5 to 90%. This is awful year for alt and ETH is not exception.
Bitcoin leader is clear to everyone. But this year the race for the victory of ether and bitcoin I would have equalized

Ethereum will have a long way to go ,before it can take over bitcoin, so for this year the bitcoin still the winner or leader over ethereum coin in the coin market cap.
I think Bitcoin will retain its leadership over Ethereum. At least this year. The ancestor is still strong, Bitcoin will be the leader.

Of course BTC has some issues with the transaction speed and scale, but the technology is constantly growing... I expect very good growth from bitcoin and eth this year, but still I'm hanging out more to strengthening bitcoin's leadership, the eth will remain on the second place and the gap will grow.
I think that from a technological point of view, Ethereum is much ahead of bitcoin. But in popularity, he has not yet outstripped him.

Every other coin apart from bitcoin and etherium will face huge blocks and problems because of their project and team , but the above 2 coins will be successful for ever.
it looks like they will both lead bitcoin and ethereum, because now both of them have fallen and ethereum doesn't show any movement. maybe after bitcoin falls and ethereum increases will also move up
