I think that with the market capitalization along with the BTC price so there is not any coin can overcome the BTC. All coin prices depend on BTC. So i think BTC will be winner of this year.
I believe that in the near future, Bitcoin will retain its advantage, as This currency is more known to the audience, it is used and mined by more people.
Bitcoin is the digital currency that we all need. Ethereum is giving us a lot of progress and technological advancement as a crypto community but it is not used the way Bitcoin is. Ethereum is not exactly the same with Bitcoin. It is not designed to become simply a digital cash. For me, Bitcoin will still lead cryptocurrency for a longer time. People will still use Bitcoin more than any other coin.
I think that leadership will remain the same. We need both. Everyone can use what is best for him! Let us wish growth to everyone!
In terms of percentage in the cryptocurrency world, BTC is way above the second leading coin ETH. There's no way other coins overtake BTC which very rare. Most of the BTC were in the hands of the richest. Though both of these coins went down in the first semester this year, they're expected to go up again.
It is too early to say who is the winner the market is not yet stable we should wait until end of this year and see who is the winner
From my own opinion, the winner of this year is still bitcoin, the king of cryptocurrency. And I believe that it will be hard for the ethereum to dethrone the bitcoin.

Recently, I was thinkig. Is there really any reason for the BTC to be the market leader? The only thing that is giving the value to BTC is pretty much the fact, that it was the first crypto currency. It is the grandfather of all cryptos. But we know it has its flaws... It was never designed for broad usage, it has scaling issues and so on.
On the other hand, we were given ETH. The Crypto Kitties or w/e the awesome internet meme ETH appliction is called showed us, that ETH network has issues with high amounts of usage. BUT, 90% of all altcoins are based on the ERC-20 standard, brought to us by ETH. The smart contracts using the Solidity are extremly good piece of technolgy.
So my question is. Do you think, that BTC will keep its leadership, or will ETH be the winner of this year and surpass its ancestor?

I think that there is no point in comparing these two coins, because both have an excellent perspective. Bitcoin will always be the king of the market, and the ethereum will be an excellent tool and platform for ICO. I am sure that behind these two coins the future of the crypto-currency world.

I do not think that any coin will be able to overtake Bitcoin in the next 2 - 3 years. Ethereum certainly showed very good growth in 2017, but most of this growth was the usual pump.
We don't have to be explained to by a sweet sayer that with how things have turned out from the beginning of this crypto calendar bitcoin will retain it is leadership, none of altcoins are ready to take bitcoin's place.
I am still convinced that Bitcoin can still be the winner and leader of the year. Ethereum can indeed beat Bitcoin but it will take years to beat Bitcoin.
I believe that soon we can see a situation where there are several leaders in the market for crypto currency. It's not necessarily just an etherium. It can be several basic crypto-currencies from the top 20.
