Well if you are a newbie, I advise you should study trading before and try trading with amount of capital $50-$100. For newbie who just start to trading is always lost their money so the best you should not invest too much money. There is no ideal number for starting but i would like to suggest you that go for that money which you can easily afford in case of loss.
It depends on your budget because any amount or any of desired to lose of your money it is okay here. In my starting here, I invest a small amount of money then it become big when the time comes. Patience is the best key if you want to invest in altcoins or bitcoin. You don’t need to rush to have a great money for the future.

Strategy and discipline along with knowing when to stop is the requirements in crypto trading. In that case you should learn how to trade and develop your own strategy.
