Most of crypto is too fragile for long term investment — hacks, scams, volatility and also require individual ability to secure funds.

However, returns are greater in crypto, if one wants to make good amount of money in short time, crypto is the way but do your due diligence and stay away from shady part where scams lie.

<...> will you still choose crypto over fiat when it comes to making investments?

Well, I have investments in both, although not specifically 'crypto' but more specifically bitcoin, but I also have investments in fiat. It is not incompatible, and although there are bitcoin maximalists on the forum who have all or almost all their assets in bitcoin, I prefer to diversify more.

I have never considered fiat currency an investment, it is just a unit of measurement and method of payment. If we compare cryptocurrencies, I think it would be more appropriate to compare them to financial markets like stocks and gold rather than fiat.

Well, in my case I am referring to fiat investments such as bonds, equities or mutual funds. Not buying currencies as in forex.

The crypto market has an high level of volatility, anyone who is about to make an investment need to have a good understanding of the volatile market.
Yes, but the volatility of cryptocurrency is the reason why it presented great opportunities and it's also the reason why it's an outstanding asset in the investment space.

I think people who choose cryptocurrency not only don't need to learn about its volatility because they are already attracted to its volatility. Volatility is considered a distinguishing characteristic of cryptocurrencies compared to any other market, and people choose cryptocurrencies for the volatility, the stronger the volatility, the higher the chance of making a profit.

Now the question is even with the volatility will you still choose crypto over fiat when it comes to making investments?
I will always choose crypto over fiat currency anytime and day. It is not something that's hard to know that the end of the era of fiat currency is getting closer and people are looking for alternatives in crypto.

Investing in general not just in cryptocurrency in general should have the matter of understanding what the market is. You cannot just apply and put all your money in one basket because that's going to make lose your investment if you don't have any idea about it. It's best that you do it properly by learning all about it and understanding the focus of the investment and how you will have the ROI.

I would love to use FIAT instead of cryptocurrency just for easier computation in my head. I would like to put it on to a spreadsheet so I would know what to do.

First we must have careful consideration before deciding to invest.
It cannot be denied that investing in Crypto has a very high level of risk, but it is quite worth it with the possible profits that will be obtained, so to minimize this risk we must really understand the investment.
So with the choices we have made, we also have to be ready and learn to learn about the investment we are going to make.
I still choose to invest in Crypto even though I am aware that the risks are very large, but I have the confidence to be able to take advantage of the knowledge I have learned.

In choosing to invest, we must be realistic, there is no investment that will provide large profits with small risks.
Investing in Fiat is actually a good choice too, but this investment is relatively stable and the risk is very small.
We have to understand both and then decide which direction we want to go.

I agree that cryptocurrency is much riskier than any other investment but as you also said, the rewards are worth the risks we take. But I wouldn't say investing in fiat is a good choice, fiat devaluation is unacceptable. So fiat should only be used as a medium of exchange and we should only keep the amount necessary for daily needs. For the rest, if we don't like cryptocurrency because it's too risky, we can also choose other assets like gold or real estate...those assets will secure the value of our assets more than investing in fiat.

Currently one of the problems of people right now is inflation, if you make an investment in the banks or the fiat currency the price of your asset might get lower due to it, in cryptocurrency you are getting a ride with the market volatility, and your asset has a chance to gain profit or to lose depends on the price action movement, still an ideal move is to invest in asset that possibly giving a good cashflow so you don't need to get worried with your fiat or even in crypto. Only the time frame, price and the risk matters here.

The crypto market has an high level of volatility, anyone who is about to make an investment need to have a good understanding of the volatile market.
The crypto market is one huge market with everything ...If you are worried about volatility, the crypto market has stable coins which give you the benefit to enjoy coins on the basis of what you see is what you get, let volatility not hinder from enjoying your crypto journey Smiley

I think if someone is afraid of volatility, it's best not to invest in the cryptocurrency market, there are many other markets that are less volatile and have more options. It is useless and a waste of our time and money when we choose cryptocurrencies and invest in stable coins. Instead, investing in gold is both safe and offers better returns than stable coins.

Now the question is even with the volatility will you still choose crypto over fiat when it comes to making investments?
I think what determines what choice you go for is what currency the platform takes when paying for the asset, besides what seperates these two is usually KYC, with crypto platforms you are likely not going to go through the KYC process like you would with fiat platforms as paying with bank cards need the proof that you are the owner of the cards and not using stolen cards...hence if a platform has both options would rather go for crypto which will require less questions, paper work etcetera

I think, KYC is not the issue when comparing both these investments but the huge difference in their returns and risks. People invest in cryptocurrencies because they are willing to take risks in search of greater rewards. For those willing to stay with fiat money, they prefer safety even though the returns are very small and will even be negative if inflation increases.

Payment Gateway Allows Recurring Payments
Basically I’m talking about all forms of crypto investment in compare to fiat investments. Crypto investments are very risky but yet they pose high profit than fiat investments that you make in banks.
Ok, I got it and tried to answer before that, if you are talking other than BTC then, you will also make some profit but you might make more loss then the amount you will lose due to the inflation if you will keep your funds in Fiat. I hope you got my point. Crypto is so volatile, BTC is less but ALTs are too much volatile, And ALT's price depends on the BTC dominance and price segments.

In short, even if you selected a good alt that might not bankrupt or rug pull you, or flew away by making some lame accuses still then you have to be aware of the BTC price movements because alts are connected with BTC and we should not ignore that.

Why not have in on both of them if you could?
Invest some in crypto then start your own small business and on that business accept crypto payment, it is hitting two birds in one stone.
If you could use both of them to earn money why would you even need to ignore the other one?

Why choose? There's no such thing as "rather" where in the first place we can take advantage of both.

It depends on how far you understand the risks if you tend to choose either fiat or crypto. There's no easy road to success. Dealing with the volatility is the challenge in crypto. While in fiat, dealing with inflation should be the priority.

Like any other investment, it should be well-planned from the start, and understanding the basics is necessary before engaging.

Definitely in fiat and in crypto. You don't need to chose between the two because if you want to assure and maximize your investment profits, you will take risk both in fiat and in crypto. Despite of its market volatility, as long as you know how to manage and control the risks in your investment, then you don't have to worry on losing your investment because being knowledgeable on your chosen investment is already an edge to free yourself from losses. Aside from that, if you have gained varied experiences in the market that makes you an experienced and skillful in trading or investing, then worrying to lose your capital is nonsense. Although there might be inevitable losses on the process, but that is nothing compared to what you can get when your investments end up successful and profitable.
Losing money due to possible losses can be a valuable lesson for investors who are still learning. Evaluation is always necessary so that in the next trading experience, an investor can do better. Crypto's volatility can indeed be challenging, but sometimes it's just a matter of an investor's emotions getting the best of them.

So far, crypto investment remains my favorite compared to traditional currency or FIAT. It's a testament to the financial freedom that could potentially evolve the world of digital payments. For me, investment can be made in any instrument as long as it generates income and has a positive impact.

Definitely in fiat and in crypto.

Why should I invest in fiat and count that one as an investment, if some people do go extreme by making their cryptocurrency investment with exchages or other centralized means then we should know it that we are only taking such risk from our own end, at least one should also know that bitcoin Investment had more assurance and reliability than when we are investing on altcoins in cryptocurrency, I don't think i can choose fiat in this regard as my preferred Investment currency when i knew about bitcoin.

I'll just give you a short explanation and answer. It's entirely depends on the platform where I am going to invest since there are fake investment in fiat which my brothers and sisters invested but ended up losing all their money because it was a scam. In crypto, it is still the same but if you know some platform or website that you have already invested in it then it is safe atleast since you have tried it already. This is what I do, I save some BTC and also sell some of it into fiat (more like a pocket money if we compare it).

There are two aspect which I would consider when you ask me to choose between crypto and fiat and I have mentioned them below:

1. Bitcoin over Fiat for long-term:
I would always prefer Bitcoin over any fiat because Bitcoin will surely be there unlike some altcoins and also it's value will increase further and let's say if you have invested an amount in fiat and after few year and you got certain percentage of interest, if you try to withdraw you will surely get interest as a profit but it will never match the level of inflation but on the other hand Bitcoin will give you handsome returns for sure which will beat inflation. This, i would choose Bitcoin for long term.

2. Altcoin over Fiat for short term: (never for long-term as Bitcoin will be first preference for longterm)
If it's a short time investment or daily trade sort of thing I would choose Altcoin because they are more volatile than bitcoin but altcoins are double edged swords as either you can become 10x 100x times richer or you will be just holding digital number which means nothing in real world. But for daily trade with high risk where I want to earn more in less time without bothering about risk factor I would go with Altcoin. Not the NFT and memes though.

The decision to invest is everyone's personal choice, but for me personally, investing in the crypto market will be much more profitable than investing in fiat. Fiat is indeed stable, but can a stable investment provide benefits? Of course, that's not the case, so just investing in cryptocurrencies can provide benefits for anyone rather than investing in fiat currency issued by a country.

When you have the chance to have both, why should you choose only one? I got the point that field currency is not immune to inflation it happens quite often. But when you invest that Fiat money, whatever investment you choose, if done right then it could obviously increase your asset and give you a profit. Cryptocurrency or Bitcoin to be exact is immune to inflation which is true but the volatile nature of the Bitcoin market is an issue too. There's no guarantee that you will only make profits by investing in Bitcoin.

As we are speaking about investment I am pretty sure we are not talking about holding asset in Fiat or Bitcoin. If holding assets is the case then Bitcoin is the perfect choice in the long run. But if we are talking about investment then the investment could come into any form. Could be a business or could be something else entirely. But if you know how to make profits out of those investments then it doesn't matter if it is Fiat or crypto.

We can make good use of both of them. But it is said to only invest what you can afford to lose in Bitcoin. When you are trying to make a living from your investment, I don't think only investing what you can afford to lose will do the job. So have both option in your hand and make a good use of both of them in order to achieve success.
