As we know, Bitcointalk is a cryptocurrency forum, and members of this forum are cryptocurrency enthusiasts. So as usual, the answers will be on behalf of cryptocurrency. As a crypto lover, I feel cryptocurrency investments are better than offline investments. Though cryptocurrency investments are highly risky and not for everyone, the ROI is also very high. Before making a cryptocurrency investment decision, you have to consider a lot of things. You shouldn't jump into cryptocurrency investments without knowing them very well. Otherwise, you may become poor instead of rich. So it's a matter of timing and learning. We have to enter at the perfect time, and at the same time, we have to leave on time. Before making cryptocurrency investments, we have to develop our skills and knowledge.

The crypto market has an high level of volatility, anyone who is about to make an investment need to have a good understanding of the volatile market. Now the question is even with the volatility will you still choose crypto over fiat when it comes to making investments?
You have to provide more details about what you mean by cryptocurrency. Like are you comparing between Usd and BTC or USD and Doge? Because this section is only concerns about BTC not about doge or any other token.

Besides this, I will prefer to invest in BTC instead of investing in fiat. Because my friend earned $1500 and I earned $1500 few months back, he kept them in fiat I kept them in the form of BTC and now I made around $250 plus on my $1500 amount and he is not. I hope you got the answer.

Where you choose to invest your money should be determine by time factor or when to use it. I think the money you can keep in bitcoin is a money that is not needed urgently because if it's a money that needs to be used in a short time, you might run at lost or gain but more secure in USDT because it's stable. Investing in crypto is like gambling your money. If paraventure this money you gained $250 in an investment of $1500 was vise versa you lost $250 out of $1500, what would have been your perspective on bitcoin? So different people have different experience on bitcoin investment so your happy story might be a sad one to another. That is why we always say that Bitcoin investment should always be a long term investment in other not to Lost your fund.

Until now, cryptocurrencies have proven to be more profitable to hold than traditional money/FIAT. we understand that the ups and downs in their value can lead to quick losses, which is a risk when you own cryptocurrencies. However, history shows that every year, the price of Bitcoin, for example, consistently goes up. This means we can embrace cryptocurrency with a long term strategy that is certainly more beneficial. So far, cryptocurrencies not offering quick profits, as it all requires patience.

Bitcoin is currently the most reliable favorite cryptocurrency. We can save Bitcoin for the future, assuming we've already allocated money for daily needs. With a defined budget and regular accumulation, at the very least, we have a chance to live comfortably in our old age and leave a substantial legacy for the next generation.

I believe you meant to say saving in fiat because I don’t think there is a thing such as investment in fiat? For me, I live in a third world country, the local currency is always less valuable than the US dollar. So saving money in USD can said to be an investment because it gives you an hedge against inflation. It’s a good strategy that works for me because I can always trust the corrupt politicians to mess up the economy but I wouldn’t over saving choose that over buying bitcoins. Instead of looking at which is better, it would not cost you anything to do both.

Even if one wants to invest in a fiat currency, it is not advisable for the person to invest in a currency that is lower than his/her currency, because the person will not gain anything rather than lose from the investment.
Crypto-currency investment is the best thing. However, it is not guaranteed, but it is a little bit safer than fiat. That is because the fiat currency is controlled by the group of governments, but crypto-currency is not controlled by anyone and that is one of the reasons why some governments are scared of it.

I believed all answers will narrow to one direction. And the answers would be crypto (bitcoin) because nobody will see what is happening in the world and will choose fiat. It is only those who have no knowledge about bitcoin will choose fiat since they don't have anything to do with bitcoin but for those who are deeply involved in bitcoin will definitely choose bitcoin over fiat. Since when I have been using fiat currency, storing it in my bank account for months and days, I haven't seen any small increase instead they are cutting or deducting me every month. And now that I am enjoying cryptocurrency, I don't think I will still go back the old banking method. Even if I use it. It is just to buy basic things and empty the account for them. And anything investment is cryptocurrency and specially bitcoin.

Fiat is a currency not an asset, so there is no point on investing in a currency when we all know it will lose its value eventually. On the other hand if you were thinking about bitcoin when you made the title about "FIAT or CRYPTO" then it is a obvious choice that bitcoin was the best option. SEC already acknowledges bitcoin as a commodity and its market data shows it is one of the best choices to fight the inflation. So the obvious choice will be to invest in bitcoin.

Crypto itself is an investment already. Form of investment on the other hand is a different thing to talk about. But if it is general preference, then I’d say I prefer using fiat on my investments outside this industry, and let my crypto investments still. There’s no need to choose if you can engage to both. Crypto in the first place still has its limitation with regards to its accessibility, acceptance, and usage. With FIAT as a medium to investments, it also has its pros as well such as having a fixed value of exchange, which I prefer more especially with stocks and some real estate properties.
Yes, diversification can work but there's a problem with that and that is the capacity of the person in terms of emotional capacity and financial capacity, what I mean by that is that there's a people that might never be able to handle multiple investments because they're too busy about other things or they're getting confused and anxious on what to do when their investments aren't doing good and with financial capacity, I think everyone knows what that is already. My point here is that as much as diversification is a beautiful thing to do if you want to invest, you've got to be prepared of the stress and the money you're going to put in because if you're not ready for whatever that's coming, you will end up breaking down trying.

Fiat is not for investment, even if it is kept in the bank, you will not get any profit because every year fiat experiences inflation. It might be better to invest your money in real estate or gold.

If the crypto you are investing in is an altcoin then it is also not the right choice, maybe most people think that investing in crypto is about buying coins and letting them ride, but it takes a lot of analysis to be successful. It is better for you to invest in Bitcoin as it is the best option to make profits in the long run. Investing in Bitcoin is still the best decision I have ever made

Poor economic policies has made my local fiat to be losing its value against the US dollars, and two weeks ago the Nigerian naira fell to the lowest level ever. Judging from the body language of the current administration, I'm not convinced enough that the policies they've mapped out can revive the naira. For that reason, I choose to have more of my savings in cryptocurrency (preferably stablecoins and Bitcoin). This will give me the opportunity to sell at the current exchange rate whenever I've need for cash since the value of naira is steadily declining.

It depends on the type of crypto because not all crypto is suitable for investment.
The mention of crypto is too general because there are many types, starting from Ethereum to the bottom of the marketcap list.
If you mention the many types of crypto, people reading can decide.
One thing that will definitely be my answer is that Bitcoin is my favorite choice for investing than fiat.
Investing in Bitcoin can provide a hedge against fiat currencies.

Investing in fiat is largely a ridiculous thing to do. Fiat functions in a way to encourage spending rather than storing the money. It loses value over time, and it's just a matter of how fast it's losing value, not a matter of it at some point recovering or gaining value (with very few exceptions). Sometimes, of course, people in countries with more volatile fiat put their money into less volatile fiat, and they can profit from it in comparison with their local currency. But that 'profiting' is still losing, just losing less. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is gaining value over time, even though there are major setbacks that can last a while. So, in the long run, I think investing in Bitcoin clearly makes more sense than investing in any fiat.

Fiat currencies are stable if there is no inflation or black swan events like wars, political issues to cause decrease or increase of purchasing power. Most of time, fiat currencies are not investment but only storage of asset. They are even less likely investment and people have better choice like gold.

Bitcoin and cryptocurrency with high volatility can be promising investment assets but there are risks with them. Risks with altcoins are bigger than risk of Bitcoin. Many people don't invest but they only speculate or gamble without much deep knowledge, diligent research and without risk management for their capital.

As far as I know, there is no investment in fiat, only stupid people keep fiat and call it an investment.
For example, using the Nigerian naira for example, if you see the naira losing against the dollar, and you decide to buy dollars, understand that dollars is also losing against some other fiat currencies somewhere around the world, and dollar is also losing purchasing powers in US and environs as well.
So when dollar goes up against the naira, and you are holding dollars you sure make some profit when you decide to sell the dollar for naira, but understand that by then, some items in Nigeria must have gone up in their prices due to the devaluation of the naira, most especially, imported goods and items, you will still end up spending your capital, plus the profit made, buying exactly the same item you previous bought with only capital alone.
In the end, you discover that you are either standing on the same place, or even going backward.

The story is completely different when we invest in crypto, specifically bitcoin, volatility in crypto is a blessing in disguise, it is how money is made in a short period if time.

When you mean invest in fiat how do you mean? There are different kinds of investment with fiat. Do you mean investing in a bank and having a profit after a certain time or do you mean any kind of investment that is not crypto?

Personally, I don't think I can invest my money in a bank and hope to get an interest after a while. My reason for this is because the interest is usually too small and then there is the matter of inflation. So even if I get an interest, inflation would have eaten deep into the money.

If you're talking about other investments then I don't think there's a reason to choose between crypto and other investments. Nothing is stopping you from investing in both. It's not wise to put all your investments in one place. And Bitcoin is the only coin I can have a long-term investment in.
Usually bank interested too small and based in my country not support with fiat such as USDT because only available with our local currency, for fiat get interest seems all exchange have support it but depend some exchange rule reward interested small and ration under 8% in a year. Talking about which one profitable between investment fiat or crypto I prefer make investing in crypto, fiat of usdt only change few percent every year and with crypto can get return more than 40% every year depend on kinds of coins as our investment.

But good ideas investing in both kinds between fiat or crypto due many trader with short term move their investment kinds from crypto to fiat when price dropping and buy back later or make investing in crypto when price going up, its profitable when investing both fiat and cryptocurrency.

I prefer both but I would start with fiat like savings or mutual funds. Having a mix of both crypto and fiat investments is like having the best of both worlds. You can enjoy the excitement of potential high returns with crypto, while also keeping things stable and secure with traditional fiat investments. It's like finding that perfect balance between risk and stability in your investment journey.

After years of experience in the crypto space where I had a share of bad and good memories my confidence only grew. Just imagine putting your savings on fiat 5 years ago and then comparing it to the current bitcoin value. Which fiat grows in value big time? I guess most fiats lost their value since they can be printed by governments.

I have kept some Singaporean dollars here since 2019 and the current value is 4% more than my local fiat which is not bad knowing the high inflation in my country. But if I put this money in bitcoin? At that time bitcoin was around $8,800 and currently, it's $35k which is nearly 400% growth. Not considering that bitcoin already reached $69k last 2021.

But to be fair, diversification of investments is always the best advice. Invest in crypto, especially bitcoin. Keep some fiat for urgent needs and the rest put them into something stocks, etc.

Op, I know that your problem is the volatility of bitcoin and the uncertainty of the market, if am to choose, I will choose crypto over and over again, if I ma to ask, how much is the value of your country's currency and how much is  1BTC compare to any currency in the world, no matter the instability of the market you can never compare bitcoin with any currency, the so-called inflation that is dealing with so many part of the world today bitcoin is not part of it, instead is even this period that it is gathering a little, that should tell you that bitcoin is a different currency on it's own that has the ability of to move higher than it's folks, this volatility you are afraid of, can make you very rich over night if you utilize the opportunity.
