The Monero dev team has shown time and again, that they are superbly focused on items that concern the core of Monero fundamentals & security, and have been improving the code base with each release. It should be very clear for everyone, that Monero needs a lot of development work before it can be called "mature", in any sense of the word.

That said, cosmetic improvements or eagerness to reach a wider user base and utility, are not particularly meaningful until such time that the tools are in place for ease of use, accessibility & user convenience. The necessary work is underway.

I would just like to take a moment to appreciate one critical difference between the Monero dev team, and what I've observed in most other coins: The Monero dev team, have shown to be solid development architects, and are clearly thinking well and through, the development decisions at each step of the way.
The keyword is architects. There are plenty of developers around, both good ones, bad ones, and anything in between. However, there are very few that can be called development architects. Those that have any intimacy with the development world will appreciate this difference, and see that this is not at all about the semantics.

In case I happen to land on some more BTC, I'll continue to increase my little Monero stash, even though I understand that Monero might very well continue on a downtrend for a while longer. I continue to mine Monero at a small pool. I'll be donating some more when I reach my next holding milestone. Join me. Or don't.

+1000
i'd add: if atm there would be "too much" user-friendlyness it would keep the core devs away from their really important work on the core

Instead of looking at movies and other distractions, how about the devs focus on strengthening XMR. The price is falling and continues to fall. There is no real GUI (except from 3rd party), the database memory issue still hasn't been solved and there is no clear direction. I'm afraid a lot of people will lose interest and move onto something else.
Let's focus on this coin and not the distractions surrounding it.

Marketing is just as important as the tech itself in terms of price. A GUI and database memory issue fix won't increase the price, in fact it might do the opposite thanks to "buy on rumour sell on news". I hope you're aware that the high emission of Monero is also really contributing to the lowering price as well.

My understanding is that the database issues are being worked on actively right now. The GUI will come sometime after that. That being said, one smart PR move would be to put together a bounty or contest for graphic/web designers to update and beautify the website.

Is there enough content to fill a movie story on Monero?

for me .... we need GUI Wallet for full story

to allow the the mass consumer to install it immediately Monero Wallets after seeing the video

As long as it will take to gather materials, find someone to edit it into a workable film, and to market the release--is probably as long as the GUI will take to be ready. It's not like it would be hard to delay one so the release of both coincided. Think we should include the BCX saga; it had all the makings of good drama: mysterious bad guy, confusion, tension and then BAM!

......nothing, it ends on a comic note.

I wonder if BCX would agree to cooperate. Or maybe hmm, he might want to be main star.

Is there enough content to fill a movie story on Monero?
So far not enough. I do not want to XMR to be dramatic.
We could film miners, devs, bitcoin castle and crypto kingdom, wealthy bitcoiners who are involved with monero, the monero team, first monero pizza footage.. anything else? not much of a story yet. crypto kingdom might make a nice story though and risto's 'castle'.

Make that Sushi! Honestly you cannot just press on "replay" must be some new dream.

Hey what if we make a Monero movie like "The rise and rise of Bitcoin" ?

Something simple like the devs working and explaining what they are doing with human understandable sentences and Monero supporters explaining their vision and ideas and also some miners building crazy big rigs.
Sounds cool, ambitious. I like it. It'll give Monero a wider market, not just techies. I'm up for it. Someone mentioned earlier in this thread how Supercoin failed due to lack of marketing and stuff even though it had good technology. Don't want the same thing to happen to Monero.

That's a great idea.

We would not need to travel around the world. Every participant could shoot with his own webcam (or better if he has) and upload it on a common server where every participant could look, comment and vote for the videos to keep or give advices to re-shoot.

Yes it reminds me a bit of the Monero fireside chats and developer video chats, which were all done remotely and have included fluffypony and David and some of the contract developers. Would be cool to take that kind of material and edit it nicely into a short documentary.

Did everyone come to some sort of agreement?

No. More like everyone had a different opinion.

So you decided to leave things the way they are?

Leaving things as they are doesn't require a decision. A decision would be needed to change. No such decision has been made.
