Let's say the altcoins suffer the serious winter.
Only some of them with sth new or strong community can survive.

Looking for all things happened with ZEIT (CryptoRush, CoinEx, low volume on MintPal), think everything is going to ZEIT's death. Hope I'm wrong(!) and still believe in this coin!!!!!!

Yea man.
I'm quite sure there's work going on to devise a decentralised exchange. It really is the missing link.

Even excluding fiat, neither Poloniex, CoinEx or CR traded to fiat at all. The coins they trade though do have value and need to be traded with other currencies, hence the popularity and therefore weakness, of exchanges.

I have no idea how the hell it's going to work.. I have little understanding of the fundamentals of how crypto's work in general, but there are (hopefully) a sufficient number of folks who DO know that stuff and are working on it.

trying to crack that code, the problem is with trade execution and order matching

my current  conceptual solution is to do trade execution in fragments, like a bell curve

your own node is responsible for signing valid trades relevant to its listed orders and rules.

we can use a blockchain for order listing and order commands are transactions, miners do the order matching

your node must be online to catch the block with a tx containing one of your orders and fulfill it in time before the miners reassign the order based on lowest timeout block count set by orders.

blocktime of 1 minute should do

we would need something centralized for id and trust systems
you could optionally have your orders matched only with users that have a valid issued ID and trust level or do it on the your node side as a rule for trade execution

MintPal volume is going down seriously. Come'on devs give us some good news on the block explorer. MintPal was a great step for this coin, let us keep a good position on this exchange.

decentralised exchange, I heard of that, but now that I thinking it through, this could actually be the solution. Using a tx log like a single cryptocoin but then possible for multiple coins. Decentralised computers over the world supporting an exchange and receive change fees. And then still some ingenieus solution on fiat money. We only need again one satoshi nakamoto to work it out :-)

I didn't mind the beta tag, I'm happy to do beta testing, but it's been like that for over 6 months and people been treating it as safe and secure.

WINE was beta for ... 10 years??
Noone cared, they weren't going to lose money on it.

Of course I love to do beta testing and indeed in open source community it is possible software is for a long time in a beta phase because it needs the community to test as testing has a high cost. But then it is open source, the developper doesn't make profit. This is not the case for exchanges. They make serious money and also there is a lot of money involved. Although I would rather see a cryptocurrency system not needed to trade to fiat money, I understand it is necessary now. But if exchanges keep screwing up, this is bad for crypto currencies, because a lot of people link exchanges directly to crypto currencies.

I think it was taken down a few days back around 15th.
FanSan posted several times last week that it was being taken down.
Gotta check in here from time to time.

I never trusted the beta sign. Who the hell puts an exchange online in beta mode. Exchanges should be serious businesses, not hobbyist projects.

What's going on, Zeitcoin community?  It's been a number of days since I've really been out here and the pages keep flying by.  I am trying to ignore all the "Some exchange stole my Zeitcoin" and figure out what's going on, development-wise.

See the OP for updates. Other than that, just random chat squeezed between all the exchange crap rantings (on all sides).

so coinex was hacked afterall and all coins gone but at least they going to try raise the funds to reimburse us all that lost

better response than cryptorush that's for sure

Still I don't get it. Exchanges should have hot wallets and cold storage. That a part is hacked, I can understand, but all. Exchanges are really the weak parts of cryptocurrency.

It's not really cold storage, the website's scripts must have access to that storage in order to make deposit and withdrawals.
I don't think there is a way for an exchange to have completely 'cold' storage unless all payments are processed manually.

Maybe I'm wrong but this is what I think Smiley

Of course not manually. But there must be warning triggers, safety levels, balance checks and I don't know what for security between a cold storage and hot wallet. That all is gone should never happen (they must safeguard against that). I never trusted the beta sign. Who the hell puts an exchange online in beta mode. Exchanges should be serious businesses, not hobbyist projects.
