Does this mean that we won't get supported by the official TZM, why are they not open minded, will they change their mind?
From the ANN on the 1st page:
Hey,
Sorry to say, the global coordinators do not like the idea of alternative currencies - they believe it is against the message of the movement and are also concerned about fraud. I can really see the idea behind getting alternative currencies going, especially from a 'transition' standpoint, but unfortunately because we are hosting the international event, they have the final say. If you want to come to ZDay or one of the after parties in order to debate its merits with people in the movement you are welcome to do that. The movement has definitely become more strict in terms of drawing lines around what can be labelled officially 'Zeitgeist' and what cannot.
Sorry again
Nope, thats one group! I personally Have made contact with groups within the UK, TZM doesnt have any leaders the members may choose to follow us or not but if we get enough support from the bottom then they will force the hand of these "topmen" making decisions on behalf of thousands. Dont worry there is support with in TZM for zeitcoin we just need more
Just my 2 ZEITs here...
I think the greatest thing TZM have achieved is to raise awareness on how broken our financial systems are. They have brought a certain amount of enlightenment to many who feel trapped in an oppressive, controlling regime that dominates governments and countries alike. But if asked if the Zeitgeist movement has been successful in making real change to the world? I have to say no.
Now this may be an uncomfortable parallel, but this compares closely to the achievements of Karl Marx. I know, I know, I can feel the discomfort radiating through your screen. But look at it from an objective point of view; Marx's most important work was Das Kapital, a stern and uncompromising appraisal of the capitalist system as he knew it that stirred up anger and resentment at its criticism. Only when pressed into coming up with an alternative did he invent what we now call Socialism, much like how the Zeitgeist movement has embraced Jacque Fresco's ideas for a resource-based economy.
It might be completely unworkable, but it's function has been to offer a rebuttal to those who ask "Yeah, very good but what's the alternative? Could you think of something better?" Marx painted a picture of an idealistic future, much like the cities that Fresco has designed. Does that take away from the important message? Well maybe a little if you focus on the 'solutions', but the reasons behind forming those solutions are key to the message "This shit's got to go"
For that reason, ZEIT coin is realising the aims of TZM - to bring awareness of the situation we face. Banking is fucked, the money system is broken. Are cryptocurrencies part of the solution? Possibly not, but the more people who understand the mire we find ourselves in, the more power we have to build a better future.
Too bad the Canada wing of TZM couldn't see this, I think they need every opportunity to spread the message.
