AKA: gigavps

Thanks!

Need more people to jump on it, should help improve the stale rate for everyone. I also need to work out a load balancing arrangement.

I'll switch over to server2 in a few minutes.

What were you thinking about for the load balancing solution? Nginx or a specific proxy solution?

I've been testing Server2 and wanted to let you know that since it came up, I've been getting only about 0.16% stales (CGMiner). Probably the best I've ever seen with any pool. Very nice! Smiley

Thanks!

0.094% stales for me since I switched last night.  I'm fine if everyone else stays on the other server Smiley

Thanks for answering about the HVAC Mess.  That's not going to be helping me as much b/c I live in the USA Southwest, where daytime temperatures reach 100+ F / 40+ C for a solid 4 or more months out of the year - so the ambient temp with an exhaust room air, supply fresh air setup with no added cooling is insufficient.

If you can find the time, please edit your post and put the political rant in a seperate thread - maybe off-topic?  And the two of you talking about "other purposes"  Wink - you know that everyone knows exactly what you are talking about, right?  Even the LE that reads this forum knows what you are talking about.  So don't be stupid.  I'd recommend you keep that to yourself for your own legal protection and to protect the forum operators.

Just call it "prior HVAC installation experience" or something that sounds legitimate.

Hehe, Ill remove a bit Wink

Its ok, i have a Affidavvitt signed by a notery public stating my situation that states im a living being and i do not understand/agree to LEGISTRATION and live my life by COMMON LAW, amoung other things. What this means is any STATUTE or ACT, CANNOT BE FORCED UPON ME and i WILL NOT stand under NO ONE! Don't worry about me, I got my bum covered Smiley

Affifavitt is a SWARN STATEMENT OF FACT, and with it signed by a noteriry public, Its as good as signed by ye ol'd priminister(president). Again, off topic but dont worry about me, is the point. If anything happens to me you'll be hearing about it more than likly as i dont go down without a fight and i jump back up fighting Tongue

Thats some mighty hot tempretures too. DOnt get that hot over here Smiley Thats an 'heatwave' over hehe Smiley Im guessing most people dont 'suffer' 40+ degrees though so in most cases i recon people could save a hell of alot of money with methods of extraction thats already available cheap. I just dont like the running cost of HVAC but it certainly is the next step up from my method. But as i say, i this simple method is not only cheaper, but alot simpler for the 'normal' home owner to setup, unlike HVAC which costs to get installed. People need a HVAC licence over here before installing these devices. Stupid red tape Smiley

Its a 10" rhino carbon filter attached to a 12" Fan (1440m3) which is attached to a 10" silencer. Windows open in the room and that blows all the air out. The room is about 10-15m3!!! lol. Basically it sucks all the air in the room out in less than 30 seconds bringing new air through the windows. Attached to a tempreture controller at 20 degree Celcious. As i say, its just stuff i have hanging around Smiley

Why run the carbon scrubber? They are expensive as shit and for a whole different purpose.

Let's just say my experience is not in server cooling, but throttling a 12" fan to 10", particularly with a muffler, is costing you some electricity. It the controller a rheostat, or thermostat? You can throttle that centrifugal fan with a controller such as this: http://www.randmsupply.com/productdisp.php?pid=917&navid=33 and it'll tend to run more efficiently than hard stops and starts.

I also have a lot of HVAC stuff lying around...Wink

Carbon filter was lying around Wink Or not in use right now should i say Smiley And it protects against the blades on the fan which ARE DEADLY! Trust me, you want something there!!!. I use reducers from 12" off the fan to 10", why would this cost electricity? that makes no sense? haha. I use a propper fan controller i use for keeping rooms, well, the right tempreture.... Smiley It controls intakes and out takes every second and corrects the fan speed to the room tempreture you want. I deal with alot of heat in my work, so getting rid is something i do. Here.. http://www.growmorehydroponics.co.uk/sms-twin-fan-controller-241-p.asp Its the nuts Smiley

And hvac, Just too costly, at least for me running 11 cards presently. And as i said, i think my way will work just as good upto 40-50 GPU's with the right setup AND cost next to nothing to run. HVAC would cost more to setup as well. BUT... if you have it lying around.... Wink

Hello everyone... I've got a second server set up now.

If you want to help me test, you can set your miners to: server2.arsbitcoin.com using the same port (8344) OR port 80.   There is currently no load balancing.  Everything should work/look the same as if you were mining on the main server.  There is a new stat on the right of the pool stats page that shows the total hashrate for each server.  You might see lower stale rates on server2 because it has a lower load.  server2 might also crash and burn and steal all your BTC Wink (thats my disclaimer).

server2.arsbitcoin.com accepts mining on port 80.

There is some gadget for windows that can read the ARS API ??

I'm not sure what you mean by gadget but I created a web app that can use the ars API to let you track your worker stats.

https://github.com/IceyEC/bitcoin_worker_stats

He means this kind of gadget.

Yes like that, there are some gadgets now, but they dont work with ARS Api.

I was just poking around the website and noticed out of the top 40 hashers, only 18 are donating over the weighted donation of .47%.

C'mon guys.  You know this is the best pool out there.  I know any donation cuts into your profits but think of how much you'd lose to downtime/hoppers/etc in some of these other pools.  We're also growing like crazy and at some point the server won't be able to handle it.  I don't think BT is getting enough in donations to even cover hosting costs right now, no less having to add an extra server or two.

Why not at least toss BT .5 or 1 percent or something?

If you're pulling new air constantly in through the windows, how are you handling things like precipitation/humidity and stopping them from getting in?

Well if the air is being replaced every 20-30 seconds, the humidity is what it is outside which where i am isnt bad. I live in England, uk. Its not as if im in a rain forest and i do only have 11 5850/5870's going at present. Maybe this will be an issue when i grow but as for now, and what i can predict, the future, its just not an issue. At least for me. And its easy as pie (and cheap) to add filters to filter the air coming in. Just means board the windows and add intakes and filters.

I've looked into HVAC as i have a friend who does gas & air con as i like to know people with useful trades Smiley Its just silly costs once again. I brought a 2KW air con unit and it basically uses as much electric as the systems are using, halfing my profits. Just not ecconimcal and the same goes for HVAC which as a condensor AS WELL! ouch! Just too costy to run unless your in the 40-50+ VGA(5850's+) cards. I recon a 12" outtake ALONE can do 20-30 cards in my current setup no problem. Add 1-2 8-10" intake and you move upto 30-50 VGA cards. Then HVAC may be needed then but a simple intake and outake is fine. Just make sure you have negitive air pressure in the room. My skillz are all in computers and 'agraculture' shall we say so when i found out about bitcoins and people spending £2000+ for a 1.5Ghash machine and that i had to have a go Smiley I just dont understand how people can be so stupid to go out and buy 10-20 ATI 6990's @ £600 a pop. More money than sense. Going takes you a YEAR make your money back at least haha. It takes me about 2 months and i get better M/Hash out of 2x 5850's (@£120 each) than a 6990 could even think about (£620 last time i looked). I at least double what my bitcoins are worth too all through NON TRACABLE lines.

peace

Cool.  FYI, here is the documentation.  I have looked at it before, but never tried making one.  They are written in mostly HTML, CSS, and Javascript packed into a zip file that has been renamed .gadget:

Wow Mess you got some UGLY cases there  Shocked

The 400 GBP HVAC idea is interesting.  Is that a sucker or a blower of air, where is the fresh air intake and the hot air exhaust?

Giga can't wait to see your pics.  PLEASE take pics of the HVAC situation.  That's the one thing no one takes pictures of and the most important thing if you want to scale the mining up, especially in southern hotter climates like mine.

You jumped ahead of me on GH/s for sure.  I'm stuck at 12 while I wait for the electrician work to get done for more capacity, still getting estimates.  Renting like you would have been better short term, but since I own enough shop space at home it's better to upgrade it permanently long term.  I also need to get my HVAC set up better.  Too much heat not enough cold atm.

I would put pics but since it's all getting changed so often it's not a priority.  I do intend to do a bigger post about it at some point some months from now, maybe.
