The Clippers are bringing back Olympic player Nicolas Batum to their fold. Also they got Derrick Jones Jr from the Dallas Mavericks.

https://apnews.com/article/clippers-nicolas-batum-kevin-porter-jr-62e1d41a8246af71e3efc63365283428

So it looks like they will have the veteran again, which was playing good in Clippers but they have to trade him to Sixers to get Harden. But now they have him again and with Jones Jr who also have a good season with the Dallas but obviously they have to offload him as they got Klay Thompson.

Batum is a tough one, he deserve another contract in the NBA. However, the clippers now will never be the same IMO, letting PG is really a big move and since Kawhi has already become an injury prone player, I wonder how they'll become a championship team. Harden is good but he is also declining, in fact he hasn't done so much during his time with Nets and Sixers as they didn't reach the NBA finals. So most likely, if Kawhi would be injured again (God forbid), they'll be entrusting the team on Harden to carry the team, good luck.

It's worth noting that Batum is far from his prime, and he performed pretty poorly last season, but it's good that the Clippers decided to bring him back. Probably, he can still be useful to them. And given that he is 35 years old, I think he will be able to play at least 2-3 more seasons in the NBA at about the same level.

I guess his defensive productivity is what Clippers goes after with him since they already have shooters. And its good that they decide to retain him since Batum still can give huge contribution for them.

Although he's out of his prime but the guy still can play ball. That's why he still receive a contract since his performance still relevant to the current competitiveness level of NBA. This is great decision Clippers made and they have been make their stars surrounded by reliable role players. If he can still perform so well then maybe he could last for more years.

I think that's why they are willing to let go of Paul George because they are banking that Harden can still perform quality basketball. And we all know that when Harden is the Alpha he can take the team by himself. So it might be good to have Batum again, as their primary defender and then his clutch shooting.

Not sure about Kawhi though, he has been declining and Toronto is lucky that he was able to bring back a championship for them as I believed that was Kahwi's prime and after that he moved to Clippers, he was not the same as he was injury prone.

This Olympic team will of course win it, but I guarantee you that it will be harder than they think, hell I may even say that they may fail to do it as well, we really don't know what's going to happen. We should realize that things aren't as easy as it looks, and we could potentially see them do something different, maybe it is going to be harder.

I think the best way to go about this situation would be just realize that they could just calm down and play slower, because if they want to play faster, most of these players are old, and they will not catch up with other teams, but if they slow it down, they are more talented than all others and they can get better results. Lets see what Kerr will do with this team.
Yes, it will be. For the past 20 years, they have been having some trouble with other countries like Spain, Lithuania, and more. Now, it's Germany, France, the Greeks, the Aussies, and Canada, and they cannot underestimate the Serbian team too. It's not about having superstars, for them it's a fight for their country and the chemistry is stronger when you have one goal.

They got used to playing it fast because of the mindset that other teams are slower than them. It's different now, more countries are better and I think the fact that most players who are dominating the NBA are international players, they should be careful with them too.
The USA team will be the favorite without any doubt but I would be glad to put some money on other countries and take the risk. Cheesy

Yes, they might be the favorite again, but not gonna be easy, I still remember when Kobe was playing for the team, they are playing against Spain and it was told by Lebron and DWade and others that he will go and screen Pau Gasol his team mate in the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe did fight that pick and floor Gasol to set the tone of that game.

And it was really close and everyone in the US team is nervous but not Kobe, as he hit that 3 point shot to silence the crowd. But this time it could be Steph or Lebron or even the ANT man that might carry the load for the US team to win another gold medal.

Jaylen Brown said that Nike and its lobby were the reason why he was not selected for the US national team.
Jaylen Brown's last tweets he wrote;

It looks like it's going to get messy.

What everyone has been patiently waiting for has happened,
Curry ➡️ LeBron alley-oop.
Now we've seen that too.

Nah, I don't think it's going to be messy, they already have a solid team base on their exhibition games against Canada and I don't think that this issue is going to affect them, it's true that Jaylen Brown being the MVP could be at least included in the roster, but they already made the decision and chooses his team mate.

As for the alley-oop yeah, it could be historic and if you asked Curry who's player that he is excited to play with in this team, it's Lebron James. At least though we will see this two play along side even for a short period of time as a member of the USA Basketball Olympic team.

I think what he mean is the feud between JB and Nike since he's stating the reason that Nike maybe interfere that's why he didn't get a spot. But remember that Steph is with Under Armour also Edwards is with adidas so I guess he made that accusation because he's frustrated with current happening and his ego has been hit since he is the MVP but he got drop on USA national team.

But I guess they are just doing a good decision with current player they select so I guess JB should move on and just try his luck next season since maybe he will encounter more deeper problem if he say something more about it.

Also yeah many got amaze for that play and it shows how lethal it could be if Curry and James would play together in a team. That is just a snapshot and both of them work really so well.

You can always say that, as the majority of us believe in Team USA. However, I want some thrill, so I don't like seeing Team USA dominate every team they face. I want them to struggle a bit but still win the gold in the end. Or maybe I'd like them to fall in the gold match so this time a new country will win. Team USA has already won four straight— isn't it boring?

If that is the case then the US team should not be complacent at all as there are lot of good teams that are competing. Nevertheless, we all know that they have suffered major setbacks in international games as well and so they send their best in the Olympics because this is like the pinnacle of basketball and there will be no questioning if the won the gold again and be called the greatest basketball nation. Yeah, other teams might want to pull an upset, we have seen this in the last 4 Olympics but so far USA is really ready for all incoming teams and that they are going to defend their crown with Lebron and Steph, now the leader of the team. They don't want to have that distinction of losing their successive runs. Teams are going to adjust to them, not the other way around.

In terms of individual talents yes I agree with your statement that they are more talented compared to whoever opponents that they'll going to face but speed wise younger players with that determination to win might give them a hard time, it's not an easy competition as internationally those squads are also composed of talented athletes who deserve playing and representing thier flags.

Let see if what adjustments and what other playing system will coach Kerr use  for team US.

Team USA has won their first exhibition game against Canada 86-72. A good start for the boys in red white and blue. Canada is one of their more difficult opponents so it’s nice they beat them by so much even though it was an exhibition game. I’m expecting to see an undefeated gold medal run out of them.

They will also play against Australia and Serbia at the Abu Dhabi showcase event in the coming days and then against South Sudan and Germany in London. I think none of these teams will pose a serious problem for the USA team. In principle, it isn't surprising, considering the number of NBA stars on this team.
Whoever manages the USA team doesn't want to mess around and will want to send the best of the best from the NBA. At the same time, none of them can be a real serious threat to them.

I am sure that they've learned from the past that every team should be taken seriously or else it might snatch a W from them in this Olympics.

That's why they need to treat each team as a good opponent and they won't belittle them. I'm not sure if that's the mentality of the former USA team in the past and that's why they've taken some Ls.

Ya, I think the US has a clear advantage and the only thing that can stop them is themselves. If they play their best and avoid injuries, they have no excuses. They make more than 100 times the salary of most of their opponents and have the best trainers and equipment in the world. Anything short of gold is a disappointment.

I don't know if this is the main reason why he was a Olympic snubbed and to rub it in, they already have Jayson Tatum and then get White to replaced Kahwi Leonard. For sure it's going to hurt him being the MVP for his season.
It's just his own speculation, and I don't think Nike has anything to do with choosing the players to represent the country, as it's none of their business. They are a private business that promotes their shoes with those NBA players; nothing extraordinary there. Brown is good, but there are probably other players in the same position that the coaching staff think would do better. They are just trying to form a perfect lineup, so Brown should better shut up and pray that the USA will win the gold.

Anyhow, good win by the US team, they are going to travel to Dubai if I'm not mistaken for another set of exhibition match.

Probably Canada is the second favorite behind USA to win the Gold.

Not France? Grin

I think it will be Canada as you look at their roster, it's mostly from NBA as well. Although France has a solid team with Gobert and Wemby, but it's not enough to upset the USA team. And I will say that they are the biggest wild card, being the host team.

But I'm seeing still the pressure on team USA to defend the gold. As for Jaylen Brown not making the team,

France is said to be the winner for this entire Olympics.  Cheesy
With all of these exhibition matches before the actual, most of them are going all out. I know that they know the drill to avoid further injuries but I don't wish anyone of them to be on that situation just because with all of these exhibition matches.

It's getting more excited as qualifying teams are now doing their best to represent their countries, I like the challenges being called by those super teams from EU and now Team USA brings their own versions of a super team, working with chemistries and as far the result of that game against Canada I guess they got something and will established that sparks from each other.

France is really a good contender basing from their performance though Canada is also composed of competitive players, we'll see who's going to be the finalist too early to conclude.

There are still plenty of exhibition games to be played before the actual competition. Let's just hope that no one gets injured so they'll be a healthy team during the actual competition. Team USA is undeniably the super team here; they dominate this competition and once again aim to win.

In the last four Olympics, it has been all Team USA.
