So it looks like they will have the veteran again, which was playing good in Clippers but they have to trade him to Sixers to get Harden. But now they have him again and with Jones Jr who also have a good season with the Dallas but obviously they have to offload him as they got Klay Thompson.
Batum is a tough one, he deserve another contract in the NBA. However, the clippers now will never be the same IMO, letting PG is really a big move and since Kawhi has already become an injury prone player, I wonder how they'll become a championship team. Harden is good but he is also declining, in fact he hasn't done so much during his time with Nets and Sixers as they didn't reach the NBA finals. So most likely, if Kawhi would be injured again (God forbid), they'll be entrusting the team on Harden to carry the team, good luck.
It's worth noting that Batum is far from his prime, and he performed pretty poorly last season, but it's good that the Clippers decided to bring him back. Probably, he can still be useful to them. And given that he is 35 years old, I think he will be able to play at least 2-3 more seasons in the NBA at about the same level.
I guess his defensive productivity is what Clippers goes after with him since they already have shooters. And its good that they decide to retain him since Batum still can give huge contribution for them.
Although he's out of his prime but the guy still can play ball. That's why he still receive a contract since his performance still relevant to the current competitiveness level of NBA. This is great decision Clippers made and they have been make their stars surrounded by reliable role players. If he can still perform so well then maybe he could last for more years.
