It's funny. I thought earlier that the Nets and Lakers to be the main contenders for the title this season. However, both teams have some problems at the moment. The Lakers don't look like favorites after a terrible performance during preseason. Regarding the Nets, I doubt that Durant and Harden will be able to reach the final series if Irving doesn't change his mind about vaccination.
Its understandable with the Lakers since they are a completely different team right now with most of the players came from trades but in Nets, they didn't do that much trades this off-season so its like they are the same team as last year and yet they are struggling.

Anyway, this is just a pre-season and many don't want to push their all-star players too hard for it. Lets wait if what will the Nets do with Kyrie Cheesy. Will they trade him or let him do what he wants to do - not to get vaccinated in exchange for money and games. With regards to the Lakers, give them some time and lets not focus on pre-season that much Smiley. What if they have some techniques that they are hiding right now and they will just release it at the start of the regular season. Lets just wait.

Don't take it seriously for now. It's just a pre-season.

We can form speculation once we see the progress to at least half the season. Regarding Nets won't be able to reach the Finals, who's the other contender in the East that Nets won't stand a chance to win? Heat? Bucks? Bulls? Celtics? Sixers? We can fairly say that the Nets can handle all teams in the East even without the presence of the drama king Kyrie Irving.

I think Lakers fans are in doubt because it's different than their pre-season when they won a championship. Different in a lot of ways.
They are now playing against the Kings and they scored 71 at halftime which should be checked by Coach Frank Vogel. There's a hint of chemistry now and the pre-season helped a lot to tweak most of their bad plays especially on Westbrook's side.
They will still become the favorites once they show a good start at the regular season. With a lot of superstars in their roster it will be easy to grab the fans back and watch them dominate.
Looks like the Lakers will lose in this game again, we have few minutes left, and the Lakers are trailing by 8 points in the 4th quarter, I guess they will continue their cold streak, and the Lakers will still be winless after this game.

Lebron scored 30 points already, but not much help from the bench.

Westbrook has improved his shooting a bit but his contribution is not enough to help the team to get their first win. Look at his numbers in this game, it's not the usual stats he is getting in his previous teams. This is odd, 5 assists and 3 rebounds, it used to be double-digit, so will this improve in the coming regular season?

In other news knicks looking solid.  Got good depth this year hopefully they can stay healthy.  Got that Christmas game against the Hawks circled.  Should be an interesting game knowing how last season ended.  I'm sure Randle will be up for that one.  Think the Knicks can squeeze a couple more wins than they did last year with this squad (pending kemba can stay off the injury report too often)  it's like the Knicks are a graveyard of great guards with past knee issues.

I agree, who wouldn't forget the Knicks last year? They have pulled a string of victories, 8 or 9 and they've always been the underdogs. That's why betting on Knicks is really very good strategy last season as they always overcome the odds.

And now it seems that they are more complete right now, and hopefully DRose and Julius Randle can lead the team again in a tough Eastern Conference.

They have enough to be relevant but they need one of the young guys like rj to really step up.  If Mitchell Robinson can just stay on the court he dominates games underneath, he changes the Knicks.  Taj is alright but he has limitations.  Mitch, rj or IQ have to really step up for them to get far.  The vets are the vets they need someone else to be the x factor.  (Desperate knick fan here  Grin)

They might trade him, or like Ben he will get deducted sums of money for not participating in the Nets game. Kyrie still owns the Nets for singing a contract, and the Nets deserves something in return for Kyrie's services.
He also has a card for that. "I will retire if they trade me."
He is playing a blackmail game, very clever, usually, it's the company or organization that blackmail their employees, in this case, it's different as Kyrie knows how to play the dirty game, no debt of gratitude or something, it's all straight-up business for him, whether in a good or bad way.

True, and with his kind of stature as a NBA superstar and supposedly have a good morales with all his philanthropic foundation, one must question his personality as it is very contradictory.

Anyway, let's see how it pan out, the Nets said that they are not offering him anymore max contract so let's see who will be the winner in the end in this drama.

It's too early to say that both teams are not going to make it this season.

There are a lot of games, they can be the top seed, or be the eight, but what's important is how they bring their teams in the playoffs. Utah Jazz was the top seed and every one thinks that they can at least make it to the Western conference finals. So anything can still happen, Kyrie thinking of retiring if ever Nets trade him? For sure he might regret that decision.

Kyrie Irving is a big piece, no doubt about that, but to think that Nets won't stand a chance to reach the Finals without Kyrie, I disagree with that. Compare to other teams in the Eastern Conference, they still have the best roster to consider.

In Eastern Conference as always, we will see close competition to at least 4-5 teams. The top teams are always meeting at the end. Different from Western Conference where competition is really tough down to 10th to 12th spot.

Agreed, they have a solid team with or with out kyrie.  Yeah Bucks Def gonna challenge them, if they stay healthy even without KY they are the hands down glfav in the east.  They are gonna feast on the bottom half all year.  They could legibly break the ppg record the way they play.  Now if beard or kd go down then they are right in the middle of the pack.

I agree that the Lakers will have their issues but please don't watch preseason and think it's indicative of how the season will playoout.  They are probably working on new rotations, new plays etc.  Once the season starts it will be wildly different.  I haven't looked at previous season stats but if you looked I'm sure crap teams did great in preseason and great teams have had lots of losses.  Don't truly judge until around 1/4 of the season is over.

They made a lot of changes so this is to be expected. They will continue to struggle early in the regular season.

Veteran guards like Patty Mills could provide what Nets will miss from Kyrie. Maybe not the same numbers but enough to support their two main players.

Now he has this "Retire" card. I don't even know why the Nets aren't trying to trade him. He is an egoistic player that doesn't want to vaccine for personal reasons. He'd rather lose huge amounts of money and not help his teammates just for the sake of him not being vaccinated. What kind of attitude is that?
or will they just let Kyrie not play in their home games.
Yes, there's a hint of being selfish on this act that's unpleasing to everyone, the Nets management, the team and especially the fans.
Have he ever considered thinking about young fans that are looking forward to see him play? Those who idolizes him and even bought jerseys with his name and even the expensive shoes named after him. They are waiting and expecting a blast since 3 of the Nets stars will be healthy this season.

^ This is a very disappointing decision for him. Even, he is now wanting to get vaccinated and this can't be tolerated. being a public figure and showing this kind of arrogance should be punished. I strongly feel that he should get traded unless the Nets will do a huge loss. I think that he should be punished by the NBA federation for not getting the vaccine. I don't know if he said anything about not getting vaccinated but I cannot think of a single valid reason for not getting vaccinated.

I believe 100% that Kyrie will get the shot. He said many times that he is not against the vaccine itself and he is only against the fact that there are mandates and people are losing jobs for not getting the vaccination and he believes that's wrong. I believe that not getting the vaccination and dying while also making everyone around you sick and causing the world so much trouble that you would be willing to not get the vaccination and cause death and suffering is a worse outcome than losing your job.

So, I am in 100% full support for anyone who doesn't get the vaxx to be fired, we need people to get it so that we can go back to the world we used to live in. However Kyrie will get it as soon as he realizes he will not be playing while he watches others do. All of this "this is not me retiring" and "I am not against the vaccination" stuff are just path for him to change his stance later on.

I think Irving should go back to Cleveland Cavaliers where he starts. He is good but he can never win a championship without the help of a player that has the same status as his, now, the Cleveland Cavaliers are struggling, maybe if he gets traded to this team, he can dictate what he like but he needs to prove that he is a good leader by bringing the team to the playoffs.

That would not happen as no team would accept him if he remains to have that kind of attitude, he will end up with the Nets and if he will not cooperate, he would just sit in the entire season.

I think  Durant and Harden are enough for the Nets to win a championship. Last season during the regular season, Durant and Harden already had chemistry, so if both will remain healthy in the regular season and postseason, I would still trust them to win against the defending champion.

This is the reason why he can't stay long in one team. He might stayed long enough with the Cavs but correct me if I'm wrong but after he got his championship with LeBron, his ego went up. He created dramas like this. He wants attention always by making this kind of problems and shitstuffs.
Add the Pepsi Cola advertisement and Uncle Drew movie. It's like everything went on how he wanted it to happen but the end part is now blurry with all this stunts that he is making. I am a fan and will always be whenever he performs at his best on the basketball floor. But outside that is a different story.
