What do you think about this news? Do you think it will affect the performance of L.A. Tenorio in his current team Ginebra San Miguel?
We all know how important L.A. Tenorio is in Ginebra, the veteran point guard in the team.
Take note it is Gilas Youth, our national juniors team.

I don't think that this will affect his team. There will be schedules done on that and I'm sure LA is willing to adjust with ever conflict with schedules in there. To be honest, he should be focusing on honing the young talents and contribute more in there since he has been into championships and contribution to global competitions. He should pass on the torch but I know that he can still play.

LA Tenorio's years in the PBA is already numbered, i mean he is close to retirement now and Ginebra is preparing for that as they are grooming RJ Abarrientos to be the King's court general. I think LA Tenorio has the skills of being a good coach as his basketball IQ is amazing and coaching the young Gilas is a great venue to share his coaching talent.

are you familiar with all these imports?

Only familiar with the three imports, Justine Brownlee, RHJ and Ratliff, the import of the Magnolia Hotshots. All the others seems new to me.

For me, Barangay Ginebra and TNT Katropa will be at the disadvantage of the Commissioner's Cup since they have a smaller import compare to the other team and i don't think their talent could offset the size disadvantage.
It seems like that will be the case for the TNT, but the thing is, after his heroic performance during the Governor's Cup, the team can't just switch to a new import just like that because that might affect RHJ and his loyalty to the team as well.

Aside from the 3 that you said, I'm also a bit familiar with Quincy Miller because he also became an import for the Converge a few seasons ago. It's good for the management that they already removed the height limit for Governor's Cup, but I expected way taller players (like the 7-footers at least).
Yeh, I was hoping for an independent team to reach the finals and eyeing for ROS as they are really doing well binding their players and with the mentorship of coach Yeng he might bring back the old glory days where they are able to reach the top and win a title, King's capabilities really fit for the ROS as like you said he's like THJ and JBL which will always do his best to help the team, with that kind of mentality and with the young and determinated group of players like ROS that combination can create a competitive squad.
Right now, only ROS is the independent team that I can consider "has a good system" since they have a good coach in Yeng Guiao. I really thought that they can defeat the TNT during the Governor's Cup, but they're too much for them. I believe the ROS' roster is composed of young players and if I do hope that an independent team will at least reach the PBA Finals like you said because like what I said in the past, the league is becoming a duopoly already between the MVP and SMC teams and that's what makes the league so BORING. The competitiveness is diminishing season after season.

I agree with you, LA Tenorio has been playing under the San Miguel Ginebra team since 2012, so it is already 12 years. For sure he and the management are also holding LA Tenorio, we all know how big an impact he is having on the team but it still makes sense because LA Tenorio was also an assistant coach for Letran from 2019-2022.

He might bring impact even on a farm team but not that much if he'll be playing against the super team, maybe even playing for ROS who are also improving in terms of local players, if he can add his talent then we might see a good competitor against MVP or SMC squad, though we can't conclude what might be his fate and what will be the the performances of their squad this upcoming new season, hopefully something decent from them as they manage to sign him to play.
It might’ve been better if King played for Rain or Shine, especially since they did well last season. King is such a talented import, super skilled on offense and doesn’t seem to get tired, kind of like RHJ from TNT. But you know, no matter how good a player is, if they’re put on a farm team, it’s like they never really stand a chance. It’s part of the culture, they’re called a “farm team” for a reason.

George King is making his return as the same import for the Bossing. It’s probably not getting much attention since the team he joined isn’t performing well, some even call it a farm team. But honestly, if George King were playing for a stronger team, like Magnolia, they’d have a real shot at making the playoffs.

It’s just a shame that his talent is stuck on a weaker team. If you check out his highlights, you’ll see how impressive he is, especially from the 4-point area. This guy’s got serious skills...

Haha, that's true. Danny I did really said that but then later on called by the PBA office and he went there to fix what he said and he was pardoned later on. But everything Danny I said about farm teams really hurt the management and that's why they became so reactive about that. As a matter of fact, instead of being obvious, they should have fix the league better.

Glad that this issue has been fixed already, i thought that it could be blown out of proportion haha. Haven't heard on the whereabouts of the young Ildefonso as of now, is he relegated to the free agent market?
Yeah, it was fixed long time ago and it didn't took a week for Danny I to resolve that with the commissioner. I don't know where the young I is but yeah, that's most likely that he's a free agent because he didn't signed for any contract.

TBH, Shaun Ildefonso is just a regular player and if not for his father he could not make it to the PBA.
His brother Dave was the one that becomes the free agent and didn't played for the team that drafted him. But Shaun is playing with the ROS.

I'm just assuming that Dave and his camp is just waiting for NP to release or trade him if the franchise will not give him what he's demanding to sign his contract, the next possibility is to look again in any available overseas league that will compensate him with the target amount that his aiming to earned.

Else, eat his pride play for NP get that attention to earned the crowed, from that view he will be able to gain the attenton of chualalay or kotz puso, and win that offer from either SMC or MVP.

In terms of Shaun, yeah an average player who deserve that contract from RoS, he know his worth and thanks to his dad's last name he manage to sign a contract.

I think that's also link to how Ildefonso decide his career, he didn't sign a contract since he thinks that the offer should be much better than what he's going to receive.
Yeah, he's given the minimum contract on the PBA but he's waiting for some more. Well, he knows his worth is better I guess.

Yes,  and if I remember it right he's father's statement about farm teams got the attention of the commissioners imagine a veteran superstar mentioned about that, though it's been resolved and that issue is already been closed, the young ildefonso managed  not to play as he didn't signed the contract that being offered by the team who draft him and maybe they are negotiating either to give him the  amount of what he wants or trade the right to the other team who are willing to provide.

But the other younger players are wiser than him because they play overseas with quick buck and higher salary and then goes back to the PH for some local leagues that they'd get paid decently too when they no longer have contract offshore.

Yeah, this is the trend now, if you can't find a good offer or if you think that you are much valuable compared with the offer better to seek overseas and fill that spot and earned better, that's how those known stars did after they played from their respective schools, instead of being drafted they find ways to take huge offers abroad, a single contract can secure your future.
Money there is quicker and have a higher salary with more perks. Although it depends on the offer, it could be per season only, per year or depending on how the team really likes the player.

Though not final yet but i think Troy Rosario will end up signing with the Ginebra Gin Kings. Another rumors has emerged that i have read in my social media wall is that Troy's contract with Ginebra is 700K per month which is lower than the 1.2 million that Converge has offered.

https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/free-agent-troy-rosario-signing-with-ginebra-say-sources-a800-20241115?ref=home_featured_big

First when I just read this I though "what the f are they paying guys over there in the Philippines", but then I read the article and saw you are just talking about pesos and not usd.  Tongue
But I guess P750,000 to P800,000 is still a decent amount for a month. I wonder if these contracts are really only for the length of the season, meaning if the season is let's say 4 months you will get 4 paychecks of for example P750,000. Normally salary is calculated per year/season, first time I saw it like this. Maybe because the season is always so short in the PBA and they have basically 3 seasons/cups with the Philippine Cup, the Commissioner's Cup, and the Governors' Cup.

Yeah, Php750,000 is still a decent amount considering the standard of living in the Philippines isn’t too high. Receiving that amount would make you well-off in our country. However, this amount is relatively low compared to what more talented players can earn overseas. Many of them try their luck abroad, where they can earn in one year what they would make in three years here. But there are consequences, such as being away from their loved ones.

I've read this from Snow. Troy was just waiting for the final negotiations with Ginebra. Converge's offer will be gone since they're the first one to offer and if I were him, I'd choose the FiberXers than the Ginebra. But as we know, the benefits and perks from Ginebra is way better than the others and that's why majority of the PBA players are aiming to go into RSA/MVP teams but mostly with RSA teams because that it also offers livelihood after retirement.

Money wise Gin kings can provide him decently aside from the sign offers there are perks behind the table knowing how decent it was for RSA's employees the very reason why known stars really wanted to be part of the groups whether SMB , GSMB or Mags they are being cared not only while they are still playing but they also gaining decent retirement livelihood after.

Troy will use his card wisely, though if he wanted to keep playing with his usual minutes Then taking Converge offer might be another option but money wise Gin kings is the best one for sure.
Yeah, that's real. Because I've watched a vlog with Pingris and he has mentioned that with Magnolia. And that's what I think Troy is after and of course the other PBA players and despite with good offers from the other teams, they're taking that from the SMB teams. But the other younger players are wiser than him because they play overseas with quick buck and higher salary and then goes back to the PH for some local leagues that they'd get paid decently too when they no longer have contract offshore.
