Blackwater pick the brother of Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, I don't know the guy but I hope he'll be able to help the weak Blackwater team.

I hope he won't show that much right away, so he won't be the next target of the trade. Just kidding! But being the top pick, fans will expect something out from him, let see if the losing streak of Blackwater was already been changed after that win from Magnolia, and having a new guy who will help them from both sides.

We will see more on him (Rosser) compared to the other drafted players. Blackwater needs more help, so expect more minutes for this number one pick..

If Blackwater is really a farm team, then we shouldn't be surprised if he will get traded after seasons of playing with the team. Look, Bobby Ray Parks Jr. made Blackwater a good team before, but look what happened, he was traded to TNT but only played one season because he choose to play in B-League where he would get bigger contract.

Well, we can expect that because PBA are looking for a good prospect, star players in the universities. A good example is Robert Bollick  from UP, he has already become a star player in the PBA because he excel right away during his first season, so maybe we will see the same, and hopefully, they will be drafted in a weak teams to help them.

If I'm not wrong Robert Bolick is from San Beda of NCAA not from UP though i don't know where he go to school during his high school years.
Sorry, I'm wrong, I stand corrected, I thought he was from UP.
This video is the evidence, : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldYHqDpiAGA

Speaking of PBA draft, looks like this year's drafting is one of the shallowest ever because many players opted out of the draft like Justine Baltazar who pulled out his draft application because he will be playing in the Japan B league. Justine Baltazar was one of those player whom Blackwater is eyeing to be their number 1 pick.

First Round:

1. Blackwater - Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser
2. Terrafirma - Jeremiah Gray
3. Converge - Jeo Ambohot
4. Converge - Justin Arana
5. Rain or Shine - Gian Mamuyac
6. NorthPort - JM Calma
7. NLEX - Tyrus Hill
8. Ginebra - Javi Gomez de Liano
9. Blackwater - Kurt Lojera
10. Rain or Shine - Shaun Ildefonso
11. Blackwater - Mark Dyke
12. Magnolia - Keith Zaldivar

Above is the list of draftees with the respective teams who drafted them.

Do you guys find anything that surprises you?

Personally, I like Converge to pick Javi Gomez de Liano because he has the experience already in the Japan B league which could be helpful on his stint in the PBA but maybe because the priority of Converge is to pick a big man which is why they have not picked him.

Another shocker for me is Shaun Ildefonso landing on the 10th pick by Rain Or Shine, he could have been picked by Converge as his father is one of the assistant coaches of the team hehe.

.. but anyway to see those rookie draft in PBA? I haven't seen any news yet about that.

It was released yesterday.

Refer here: Full list of eligible applicants for PBA Rookie Draft

Unfortunately, the expected top pick prospects Sedrick Barefield and Justin Baltazar are out making it more possible that Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser will be the top pick and BlackWater might pick him. I hope he will be a big contributor to the BlackWater team that only established a single win since their last win in the PBA Bubble 2020.

This might not be related to PBA but it's still basketball in the country. UP became the champion on this recent UAAP season 84.
After 34 years, they've became a champion again. Are there people here who have been tuning in on this league as well? I've just seen it on my feed so I've thought of sharing it here since it's also a league and basketball.
I watched the few games and I can really say that UP made a difference this season, they are composed of good players and even the departure of some of their key players this season, I’m pretty sure they can defend this title.

Well, some UP players are already graduate and might join PBA as well sooner or later. Rivero is already graduate, I wonder if he’s included in the recent draft and join PBA right away.
Yeah, it's possible that Ricci will be going to PBA but anyway to see those rookie draft in PBA? I haven't seen any news yet about that.

There's more money in other leagues now. But there would still be those that would like to be drafted in PBA. Exactly those that don't get any offers to play in other leagues abroad. Where can we see the list of possible drafts?

This might be a new ERA or Ateneo will bounce back next season? This is actually exciting since a lot of veterans already graduated for both school this year so technically, next season will be more different. I believe some players already able to have a good offer from PBA Teams and the draft today can be more exciting since players from UAAP and NCAA schools are also joining PBA for this year draft.

UAAP and NCAA are also joining? Like these are new thing? No mate. It's usual that most PBA draftees will come from UAAP and NCAA. It's the always case. No other sources where these rookies will came from unless being in a special draft or being scouted by PBA teams.

Ateneo will surely bounce back but it seems that statement is not applicable to them since they have known to dominate the UAAP for long. I'm even more interested that Ateneo will have the same losing rally next season for a change. Tongue

It will. Terrafirma, Blackwater, and Converge's possible picks and choices are the best of the best.

However, as far as PBA politics are concerned, maybe these prospects might end up in SMC teams as always. Once the giant company in the PBA sees the potential of these top picks, always expect the unexpected.

Then we will see once again surprising news and PBA Chief will call it a fair trade if you know what I mean. Smiley

Just still lingering in my ears, Cagulangan

for the win!! Grin

He really made the difference, his shot was cold blooded, and I like the UP in that game because they were so aggressive, they are getting the ball and they don't mind playing against a heavy favored Ateneo. And for the record, it's the first time that coach Tab was beaten by a Filipino coach in the Finals.

I'm watching it, mate. Not a fan of either UP or Ateneo but I really like the former to win the championship. Ateneo is full of good and spectacular players from their coaching staff to players that's why for a change, I really like UP to advance.

Actually, it's related to PBA since players from these universities are bound to end up signing as a PBA draftee.

But there are reports released recently that some expected prospects skip the PBA Draftee as those received offers from overseas to play.

Ateneo have everything in terms of what the team needs, though they are still the favorite to win this year's title but upset

take place almost identical when UP beats them from the regular season and breaks the winning streak of Ateneo. It's been 36 long years

before The Unibersidad ng Pilipinas win the title, perfect timing to bring the emotions high. Just still lingering in my ears, Cagulangan

It's a big surprise for the crowd and the UP will claim the trophy and become a champion. And yes ateneo has the best line up when we talk about basketball they have many good players. But for now UP is the best they proved to us that they can best the top universities and strong team in terms of basketball and maybe this year UP stars player will have a chance to be drafted in PBA.

That was an exciting game to watch but unfortunately, my favorite bookies did not cover the betting of the championship games.

I'm not really a fan of UAAP and like you, the news regarding it just passed in my social media newsfeed, and just curious also some of my colleagues at work are betting on that games offline. Could have won big if I'm a fan of UP since here in my place they are a huge underdog hehe.

Anyways, congrats to UP and hope they can do it back to back even without the backing of the rich sponsors hehe.

Actually, php 420k is very low compared to what Greg could earn if he plays abroad. And considering the status of NP in the PBA, they are not a championship team so Greg would not be receiving bonuses unlike other teams like Ginebra, TNT, Magnolia or SMB who have a decent chance of winning a championship.

If he can get other offer outside the country, then it's good for him, he's not tied to any obligation here and he can simply packed his bag and fly to whatever destination the offer can be, but, there's no update yet if someone from oversea who wanted his service, he's stuck within the league and the max offer a player can earn here is 420k that is what the league rules.

Those important things that you mentioned about bonuses are things that Gregg enjoyed when he still playing at Ginebra, perks that really give him additional bonuses in which he can't have while wearing NP's uniform.

The way I saw it, Greg Slaughter would be okay if he received that 420K max contract that the NorthPort team has said they offer to him but seeing in one article that what he received is far less from what is stipulated on the contract so someone must be lying here and i think there are two documents that Greg must have signed hehe. Check this article and see if you believe in this.

Two days ago, free agent Greg Slaughter broke that unwritten code by asserting via a comment on a SPIN.ph story that the "max offer" of P420,000 a month which he supposedly demanded was "not even close to what NorthPort was already paying me."

I hope Greg will be able to find a team to sign him as he is fun to watch, and the North Port have really improved with Greg playing as the center. Due to the inflation now, I think the max salary of a player has to be reviewed already as I think it has not increased for many years already.
