Watch only the highlights of that friendly game against Turkey and you were right, that was a well fought game by our Gilas team as it was a competitive game until the fourth quarter. It was surprising for me that Junemar Fajardo scored 17 points in that game while Kai Sotto which i expected to score more was limited to just a single digit points. Though i expect them to lose against Latvia but i hope they will fight like they did against Turkey.
Is there any site where we can see the box score? Like you, I wasn't able to watch the game, but I'm interested in seeing who among the players in Gilas contributed well. Thanks for bringing up JMF; that guy has really improved. He developed his shooting, so it's not a surprise that he scored 17 points. Maybe he was the top scorer?
I saw Brownlee played well too, so I guess they are alright. At least against a strong team, we were able to compete, but we just fell into problems in the 4th quarter because of our defense. Turkey has been shooting pretty well outside, so that's the big difference. But you can always be impressed with the effort of the Philippines in defense against a taller team.
This is just a tune-up game, so it will be different in the actual games because this Turkey team does not have their complete roster. We all know they have NBA players. If they played, it could have been a blowout win for them.
Our team is good, but it's really hard for them to be competitive against European teams. Hopefully, they'll consider adding a Brownlee-like player. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I read a rumor that if Clarkson, Green, and Brownlee played together, this would be a hell of a team.
