Philippines and Serbia will play tomorrow I guess.

I just check the betting line and the Philippines is currently +30.5 with 1.90 odds.

According to the schedule in my bookie, the game will start on JUL 01 02:15, I think this is early morning in Philippine time.

Another great game from this young gilas cadets, managing to cover that huge handicap, 83-76 gilas almost tied the game in the last quarter, sad to say that I'm just monitoring the score from Stake but didn't have the chance to watch the live game..

But even so, still picturing how this young guns really tried all their best just to prove that bookies assessments is not accurate, pinoy pride shows how they really improve the system here in our country.

Even they've lose this game, they already gain respect which really important playing internationally. Congrats!

I can't believe it ended as a close match, I was just reading some comments and it says that the Philippines were up in the game but they lose in the end. Still, bookies are even giving them a 30 points handicap and yet they just ended the game with a single-digit loss. I'll just watch the highlights to see how the Philippines gave a good fight.

Looking at it in a different perspectives, if players from PBA continue are allow being pirated outside the country its gives new aspiring players to step up and showcase their skills, I follow your sentiments what this two brothers did are the faces of reality inside this league, the amount of compensations are far lower than those offers abroad.

If chance permits them, players who wanted to have a much decent future will grab this kind of opportunities, knowing that they are not going any younger and decent savings are better than anything.
The problem of low compensation in this country is because there's not a strong laws that supports our athletes and our employment laws are not worker friendly, that's why businesses are able to exploit the workers. If both wasn't the case, we would see something different. Also worth mentioning that besides a greener pasture outside the country, they will be much more famous than they are in their own country.

Great news for the PBA rookies.

PBA set to raise rookie salary cap amid Thirdy and Co. move overseas

They are now competing, maybe they are threatened that their players will be taken by the overseas team, it seems like the action of Ravena has become a blessing in disguise as it benefited the rookies since their salary is increased.

It's been mentioned before in this thread that the only way the PBA will be able to stop the young prospect from playing abroad is if they will give a competitive salary, and it happened very fast and it's really timely, otherwise, PBA will not have the best players and will be boring.

Thanks to Ravena, he was really the first one who started this.
I agree, if there are no offers abroad, they won't change the salary cap for the rookies. They're going to be out of rookies if most of them will be scouted by abroad Scouters from other leagues. The PBA management probably is thinking before that they're already superior and players will keep on chasing them but no way this time. There are other leagues that they might play and that's going to be once in a life time opportunity for which they shall accept first the offer abroad and can always be back in PBA as long as there's no breach of contract and they are clear with their records for them to easily be back there.

I wonder how the overseas team will react, will they increase their offer too? I think they can do that since they are a big country with a good economy, so they can compete with the salary the PBA is giving to their players. Anyway, I think I will not think about that now, lets just give that job for the PBA management to figure out what to do to keep their players and make Philippine basketball as competitive one.

Or also, they are targeting those young gilas cadets after seeing them play PBA wants to bring decent offer for them to consider playing at home instead of trying to compete overseas.

It's a good and blessful news for PBA aspirant since the offer is now more competitive and they are not locked without any other options, that Ravena thing really open doors to every pinoy young stars,

expect more news after this season is formally open, night bot just the rookies but also those PBA stars who also been eyed by foreign leagues, who knows right?

And they really stepped up when Kiefer was trying to follow the footstep of his younger brother. The PBA are concern on its future now, I don't know how much is the salary of the rookies, but increasing it would really help them to be more motivated and we will see more potential talents working hard to get drafted in any PBA team.

COLUMN: Are fans wrong to hold PBA stars to high standards?

Yes, we are wrong because we think they are a perfect model to follow.

They are just humans, they make mistakes as we do, so we have to understand them.
These 3 in this column are the most popular as they made mistakes, but at the end of the day, they are just human.

Their job is to only entertain us, their personal life is their own.
I too was surprised with this news and I'm confused why Scottie was trending last time and I just didn't care when I've seen it on Twitter. But after a few days, I've started to look at what's with him and then I already understood that he had his wedding with a different girl. The girl that he proposed, she's not the one that he had vowed to be with her for the rest of his life. Well, this is a personal matter and it is his life and whatever is the issue on him and with these two girls, it's on him.

In a marriage, a guy has to choose the right woman and it doesn't matter if they were together for so long if they are not compatible, for sure, Scottie has his reasons behind and he can keep it himself to protect his privacy. People are just trying to make it a public issue when it's just a family issue, and they deserve to have privacy as they are just humans like us, it's their right.
Yep, we'll never know the real reason with that twist but it's his life but I've been reading those fans that are disappointed with what he had done and he has hurt Pau. But that's it, things have already quite calmed down and Pau is trying to move on and the fans must move on too.
I guess this incident had lost fans who sympathize with him and now look down on him and won't follow him anymore.
As for the PBA update, I've read that some rules for the PBA players have changed already and the max contract is now eligible for the rookies. This is just a post that I've read and there's no official announcement yet.

On the case of Thompson, I think it's so personal and fans are just overracting.

yeah right! or maybe not most of  the fans but those haters who are creating this kind of social media noises.

The only way to stop this showbiz chika is to announce the start of the new season. Fans has become a showbiz fan already instead of a sports fan. This news will be forgotten, but we will never forget how good Scottie is and he will again contribute to his team to win the championship.

The issue of scottie still circulate because there are still content creator creates a content about their issue just to earn money and maybe people should start to ignore that since thats there personal life and I do agree with you if the season will be opened back again for sure this one will fade and the focus of the fans are in the league and not those issue which is not related on basketball.

Just like how Abueva, Romeo and all those well-known stars who suffered from issues that content creators loves to do some bad write ups to attract readers and to suck money from the bad publicity that they've created.

I agree with what you both have said, announcement of new season may divert  attention of fans and by watching the game this issue with Thompson will die naturally.

Let be positive and wait for the good news with the actual date of this new incoming season.

Now we can see the issue almost gone since content creators are not covering him anymore so I expect people will forget this issue and its good not to judge scottie about this since its his personal life and I believe this one cannot affect his career.

I also feel that the new season are near to open since covid cases in NCR drops and the PBA boards need to push this so that  they can start the league.

This is the problem with the people in our country whenever they are following some popular people whether its from music industry or sports industry or any industry.
They are following them to the point that they will follow what will happen to their real life status and when they see that the person that they've following for so long did something bad, they will immediately bash them or criticize blah blah.

This is the reason why I don't want to become popular Cheesy. Nahhh just kidding but I just want to be a lowkey person because lets accept it. People here in our country are just good at criticizing the real life of these people. Like you said, these are just people and they are doing mistakes too like us. They might be popular but there are some things that we don't know about them. As for me, I'd rather be silent and will ignore them instead of criticizing them that will give no benefits on my side.

We can't blame people if they are showing sympathy to those who become a "victim".

Just give it a time and the issue will be silently forgotten or will not be on-trend.

In Scottie's case, his supposed wife is asked several times to make a statement that's why she gave it so that people won't ask too much. Now that she already gave a statement, she's now back to her silent mode and I doubt she will make again a public statement which is good for both parties.

Fortunately, Scottie is being silent as that what he needs to supposed to do even he also wants to share his side. Giving a statement will just add another fuel to the fire so I'm with him being silent about the issue. Time will heal and feel sorry for Pau.

The media should also stop taking details on the issue. They are not helping with the case.
This should be a private thing to settle in the first place, that's why it shouldn't matter to us, whether what side we are on in this case our opinions don't matter because this is an intimate and private issue but you know that medias are like vultures, they will pick up on the things even if it's the rudest thing to do at the least the low class kind of media.

If Kouame would not play, then I guess our chance will be very slim.

Chance for what? For the qualifiers? I think it's not. We already have a good shot on the qualifiers even Kouame would not play.

But for the actual FIBA event, even with a healthy Gilas lineup, especially if they will push the all cadets lineup, I don't expect they can upset any team at any bracket.

We will know if the season is already starting soon if there are betting odds available for the season.

No need to follow on that.

A one-time big-time post on social media is already enough and it will quickly create awareness throughout the sports community. Smiley

I doubt sportsbook will release an odds prior to the opening announcement.  But I think it's not a big deal today for most of us since we are busy following other basketball leagues.

I believe we have our Philippine sportsbook that has that odds, which is what we called NBA futures if it's in NBA.

I think it's MSW, a fiat sportsbook, but I cannot find the site now, it redirects me to a new name, maybe they rebranded.
