On the case of Thompson, I think it's so personal and fans are just overracting.

yeah right! or maybe not most of  the fans but those haters who are creating this kind of social media noises.

The only way to stop this showbiz chika is to announce the start of the new season. Fans has become a showbiz fan already instead of a sports fan. This news will be forgotten, but we will never forget how good Scottie is and he will again contribute to his team to win the championship.

The issue of scottie still circulate because there are still content creator creates a content about their issue just to earn money and maybe people should start to ignore that since thats there personal life and I do agree with you if the season will be opened back again for sure this one will fade and the focus of the fans are in the league and not those issue which is not related on basketball.

Let them spread the news, eventually, we will forget it, that's just the life of a public celebrity and Thompson belongs to that level already since he is one of the star players of the Ginebra San Miguel and he won numerous awards like a Finals MVP IIRC.

Another injuries for the Gilas line up, this time it's bigger.

Add Ange Kouame to Gilas injury list in Belgrade OQT

If Kouame would not play, then I guess our chance will be very slim.
We had success in the Philippines but this campaign might be harder for us as we have better opponents.

This one os sure tough for the national team, our naturalized player is our best player, without him in the court, Gilas will just be an ordinary team.

PBA stars are like showbiz personalities, they have fans and fans also have expectations from them.
Indeed, they need to please those fans no matter what, they've been paid out from those generated incomes from the fans support.

Quote
Though we can say that they are just humans but we can't deny that without the fans, PBA would not make money, so they also have to act like a model as PBA has standards that they'll implement and that is being a good example.
Being a good example and make sure that you are living the way known personalities should., accept the fact that you are not signing your contract to play the game alone  but accompanied by that contract is your responsibilities in everything that will assure that the business will have good and moral identities.

Their job is to only entertain us, their personal life is their own.

Got the point. They are just human like us.

But these players are aware that they are popular throughout the country and it should be expected that once something happened in their life, the public will react.

PBA players are not only to entertain us. They become a role model for everyone and some considered them as inspiration. It creates a bond between players and their followers. That's how social community works.

Taking any actions always reflects not only for that person but also reflects to the entire organization.
He's been paid to entertain and for sure he made that well,  but, behind that he also carrying the brand name of the business,
he should take that into the account, controversy like that will affect the fans, he's human no doubt   with that.

But knowing he's rising popularity  if will affect him much and the entire team. Negative media loves this kind of news  as readers will come to visit and will create more impacts around.

This is what fans are waiting for, to finally see live PBA games to meet their favorite players in person. I hope the IATF would not make a stupid policy of still wearing a face shield when in the Arena as that would really kill the excitement. We are just way behind the big countries development, they are already allowing people to watch big games in an arena, but as usual, we can always copy their rules for safety protocol.
Its not unusual, what do we expect? We are always late for improvement and maybe because of lack of unity to fight this virus from spreading. We're all waiting for a live game and I think if IATF will allow it, a limited audience might be impose for safety.

Their job is to only entertain us, their personal life is their own.
Thats true, but you know since PBA players are also popular and get the same attention as celebrities many people are looking up to them as a role model hence if something went wrong its also a big deal specially for fans.

They are just humans, they make mistakes as we do, so we have to understand them.
These 3 in this column are the most popular as they made mistakes, but at the end of the day, they are just human.

Their job is to only entertain us, their personal life is their own.

If only they are just holding their own career, then that argument is valid.

But those players in the article are carrying a company brand in their name that's why even they are just humans, it's no way they can escape the wrath of fans once they involved in an "inappropriate" act according to the views of the fans. They signed into a team, advertise that team, promotes the product, seen on TV, ads, social media nationwide so once there's something happen to them, it will be a domino effect on the name of the company.

But you know, in reality, these players don't really want the drama in public. It depends on the situation, for example in Jalalon's case, the wife is in need of support so she voiced out her concern and the media take it as a scoop. Abueva's wife also voiced out concerns that's why she takes the case on social media. And recently, Pau Fajardo, former fiance of Scottie Thompson, was continuously asked for a statement by whoever media or scoopster so she gave one, the first and last.

COLUMN: Are fans wrong to hold PBA stars to high standards?

Yes, we are wrong because we think they are a perfect model to follow.

They are just humans, they make mistakes as we do, so we have to understand them.

I think it is the norm of our society as Filipinos that we should be conservative and you are right, PBA players are human too that can commit mistakes.

What happened in their personal life is theirs to take but in the Philippines, that's a big scoop for the media that can generate a million views so it's hard to pass up hehe.

In the NBA, there are things like those (attached link) but it is not a big deal for them.

So, if approve then we could see the start of the 46th PBA this coming July and the good news is if you vaccinated then you can watch the game live in the venue just like in the NBA

A good thing they consider that. A part of the privilege of vaccinated people aside from the perks that already taking place once a person getting vaccinated.

It's also a form of encouragement that people should consider having the vaccine. But even prior to the pandemic, the PBA crowd isn't that much honestly and great revenues only come from Finals. That's why they should not limit for now the privilege to watch PBA on-site with only vaccinated people.

In NBA, especially in the US, their vaccine supply can cover all their citizens that's why we are now seeing a big crowd. That's the only problem here in PH wherein vaccine doses are lacking but we are expecting more doses to come in the next months.

We should not only rely on donations, we have to put a big budget on the vaccine so everyone will receive their vaccine. That's the problem of a corrupt country like the Philippines, instead of prioritizing this vaccine, some political games are now playing because of the budget. I hope we will have enough supply of vaccine one day so the government will start investigating the corruption happening due to this pandemic.

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said the possibility of having fans in attendance during games could happen as long as those coming into the playing venues are vaccinated.
The PBA is still seeking approval from the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases for its proposed July start for the 2021-22 season, and Marcial said that they’d study the prospect of having fans inside the venues once they get the nod from the government.

So, if approve then we could see the start of the 46th PBA this coming July and the good news is if you vaccinated then you can watch the game live in the venue just like in the NBA.

I think no more bubble set-up for the PBA this as it's very costly to operate, they will just wait for the vaccination to roll out and will even use its players to convince people to be vaccinated for us to be safe from covid and we will be back to normal once again if 70 percent of the population are vaccinated.

Good news for avid fans, if this proposal will proceed and the IATF gives them the clearance on site fans will enjoy the game, no more bubble set up though attendance might still in question if they'll allow 100% fully vaccinated or they will consider safety protocols still.

Though there's new covid variant(Delta) which being feared that is's more quick being spread fully vaccinated individuals are still unsure if they are safe with this new mutated virus(not sure  if I use the right term for this.)

All in all still good to know that progress within this target dates is already rolling.. Wink

Maybe that's the reason why there's a little delay, we might not see a bubble set up that was previously reported, and since some people already got their vaccines, so just like the NBA, they are allowed to be in the arena again. This is a good development, hopefully, they'll be able to realize this and gain an approval from the IATF.

C Stand is still suffering from injury.

CHRISTIAN Standhardinger has not been practicing of late with Barangay Ginebra due to a lingering injury.

Veteran guard LA Tenorio disclosed the development on Friday night, blaming an old injury from which the 6-foot-8 Fil-German has yet to fully recover.

Without him, the Chance of the SMB is getting bigger as I think they will have Fajardo back this season.
Next to SMB, I think Magnolia also has a great chance of winning this coming season.
He's one of the biggest asset of Ginebra this season, that's too bad if he didn't recover in time and yes SMB will have a better chance to get the title this season and I'm pretty sure Fajardo will paly again, he might be participating on their practice already. This season it's worth the wait as many fans are waiting for this and support their favorite team. Ginebra might be the crowd favorite but I'm sure, other team will win this time.
