The Philippines is not expected to win all the way, but beating a good team like SoKOR is already a great achievement as they have been beating us before. We send a team that is not even popular, not mature enough, or has a big experience in international games, but here we are now, we are winning and proving to the world the Basketball in the Philippines keeps improving.

These cadets would have a difficult time if they face teams like Iran or Australia and I don't expect them to win against those teams I've mentioned but they are already deserving to be in the final roster with their performance against SoKor, though this is not possible as we all know that the final roster would have some veterans in it and possibly an NBA star in Jordan Clarkson.

This current gilas line up is a lit, they are strong if you lool at how the ball rotates on their hands we can that they are solid compare to the past gilas roosters. They have great chances to compete with those teams you meantioned but for now let their battle between the qualifier round will be the indicator how ready they are in the world stage.

Indeed, a win against South Korea is already a great achievement for these young fellows and they did not do it once but twice, that is not a fluke.

We are not seeing a player like Romeo in the current roster,

Because they are still young. Give them at least 2-3 years and we should see a Romeo-Caliber type.

But what I'm more interested in is to have Gilas a caliber player type of plays as Jimmy Alapag, Jason Castro, and Ranidel de Ocampo. These guys are my Top 3 players in the history of the Philippine Team. A product of TNT Katropa under Chot Reyes.

.. but here we are now, we are winning and proving to the world the Basketball in the Philippines keeps improving.

Actually, the world already recognized PH basketball as continuously improving. The presence of the Philippines on FIBA World is a big achievement for a South East Asian Country. PH is considered the strongest team in South East Asia for years and battling up against countries in North Asia (e.g Japan, S. Korea, China) is an advanced level that's why whenever PH beats these countries, it was widespread news.

The squad is still young but already showing some impressive performances. The future of the PH basketball team is now already in good hands.

Who would forget that? It's the best moment for the Gilas Pilipinas to qualify in the FIBA world and showcase the world their talent. Terrence was very popular at that time, he has the talent, and coach Tab just helps him to maximize it. We are not seeing a player like Romeo in the current roster, but they are playing with good teamwork that's why they are still undefeated until now.

Though there's no Romeo there inside the roster but the heart that coach Tab developed inside Romeo are there from each cadets who are willing to do everything to win each games,

Representing the Nationals and bringing good name for the country, it's every players wish giving the some chance and privilege.

This current lineup shows dedications, they are doing all their best not to waste this great opportunities to create names on their own not only here but internationally.

Definitely, we can't discount their coaching staff's effort.
I remember him coaching Terrence Romeo and how that young Man brings pride to our Gilas internationally. Coach is important to guide young players to compete.

These young talents will not succeed without a good coach, and coach Tab seemed to have work with some of the players before so they already know them despite a short period of time preparing for this competition.
They understand him and he gave them the types of game that the players can easily to follow, he's mentorship give this young cadets a good guidelines to pursue and win with a pride.

Quote
Also, the presence of Sotto is really big, I would not anymore say he is overrated as he is protecting the paint, grabbing those rebounds, and do some dunks which we barely see with our old guys' lineup.
I was amazed how this young tin boy turned into this kind of a player, he's helping a lot inside and the opposing team really feel his presence each time he's playing, he have a huge future ahead if he won't get any major injuries, Hoping for more appearances from him even new stars will play along side with him, let see how far this gilas cadets will push thru..

I was not able to watch the game, I was busy today but I'm happy that the Philippines have won twice against the South Korea team. It's not luck anymore, what we witnessed is their real skills, they are just underestimated and South Korea might have regret when they said Philippines only won by luck.

This batch of Gilas cadets has a very bright future in terms of representing the Philippines in the FIBA competition. Personally, I was thinking that their first win against South Korea is a mix of talent and luck hehe.

If I'm not wrong this batch of cadets has the highest height average and most of them are athletic enough to defend the Koreans bombardment in the three-point area.

And we should not also forgot the coaching staff who orchestrated all the plays that made this win possible, especially to coach Tab Baldwin.

Definitely, we can't discount their coaching staff's effort.

So what will happen now? Are we still going to see a game of Gilas, I can't follow the schedule, I am a littl confuse with the rules of this competition.
I'm just looking at here http://www.fiba.basketball/asiacup/2021/qualifiers, I don't know what's next.

Anyone here who are well versed with this, please explain.  Grin

Can't wait for tomorrow's match against SoKor. Want to see Gilas giving a definition of what's the "lucky shot" is supposed to be. Smiley
The game is on and as of checking it right now, it's Q2 and the score is close to each other. Ph 32 - SK 31. I've looked for some streams on YT but to no avail. If you guys want to watch it right now and you're not on television, just search for some streams on FB. Some pages are streaming the game and it's all up to you if you're going to support those streams. For me, I just want to watch the game.
I'll update this post later once the game ended and I wish that Gilas will still win this rematch and it's going to be clean!

Yes, it's no longer luck or a miraculous shot that has won the Gilas. And there's also news that I've read lately that South Korea's coach didn't think that PH and SKor isn't a rival. It's known that many of the netizens and fans think that they're rivals but the coach said that it's not. Well, that's what he thinks personally and we have to respect whatever he's saying about this matter although it's not really a big matter to talk about probably it had caught his attention and he also said that he gets a lot of learnings having a match against Gilas.

The betting line is already available, Philippines is +6.5 in this game, but if you will bet on the moneyline, you will get +300 or x3 of your bet.

+6.5 for the Phillippines is a good pick. I know South Korea is a dominant team since then against the PH but referring to their last game, PH young players can do the same competition as in their first match.

If ever South Korean will win, but I don't like it, of course, I'm seeing their lead is just around less than 5 because of the close game so I think handicap +6.5 is a good pick. I didn't check yet the available odds but if by chance, I will pick that bet.

Moneyline @3 is also a good pick. I will disregard anything about South Koreans and I will pick based on my favorites.

ML is good as PH Gilas can do the same and have a better look playing against the Koreans. We've seen that game previously where
our young guns really played well and push everything to their limits.

That handicap is also good if you are not that type of risky bettor, chances of close games will assure you to win the bet.

Good luck Gilas bring another win and compete with the Heart!

This is like a training ground with this young guns now for them to improve more in the future but I guess the roster will be updated again once the Asia Cup is nearing.

Yes. That would be the best training ground that those youngsters will experience - international competition.

I think this is the first time that the full lineup of Gilas was composed of young guns for FIBA qualifiers, correct me if I'm wrong though.

Anyone here wants to bet on the Philippines to win?

It's too early to put a bet, the game will be tomorrow so I guess I'll spend more time analyzing if it's really good to take the bet or not. Philipines is undefeated, SoKor lost once from the come-back win of the Philippines, I think they'll play harder this time to beat the Philippines.

However, since i'm a Filipino, I'm also thinking of supporting the players, so I will beat on them.

According to the scheduled seen in my sportsbook, the game will start at 3:00 PM in the afternoon, Philippine time, so there's still plenty of time to analyze the game abut I suggest you take it simple, just follow the "PUSO", and believe that Gilas will beat the South Korea twice.
