Since they'll start in the 2nd half of the year, then I think a single conference is most likely be the setup.

Yes, the NBA really makes us entertain because we are already in the WCF/ECF and after this, the biggest event which is the NBA Finals will start.

There's still plenty of time for the PBA To start and I think they are right on track so probably next month we might see some good news.

It's a perfect timing indeed, after the NBA finals ended it's about time for Pinoy fans to watch for the PBA.  It will help the league in terms of viewers since the fans probably looking for some sort of entertainment,.

If they'll rush it out the chance that fans attentions are split between, though it's already in the third quarter of the year perfect for 1 whole season.

Focusing with new twist of the game to bring more entertainment, those trades are highly expected to bring impacts to the league.

I don't think it will split the fans as NBA games are usually televised in the morning while the PBA games start in the afternoon until evening.  Nah, they just want to ensure everything is fully prepared before they open the season, with a long preparation, they want to make it successful.

There's no MECQ, there's no reason to delay the opening of the new season.
I think there are internal talks when they should initiate the league again. We have no choice but to wait for further and official announcements when they will start going back again. Right now, the only thing that we can do is to wait for those announcements that they will release about the start of the league again. But if there's none, we have to be patient. Whether there's no MECQ or there is another quarantine protocol that has been adjusted, they also want to give us a better update as soon as possible and make the league happen for us to have something to watch again with our favorite teams and players.

Maybe let's just be optimistic that the season will start soon, believe that we will read some announcement in the coming days that the season will finally open next month, I think that was the target, so let's wait and see. I'm sure with the ample time given, the players have already taken their vaccine and who knows, we might not see a bubble set up anymore, and fans are already allowed to watch the game.

There's no MECQ, there's no reason to delay the opening of the new season.

They are not delaying it, they are making sure the opening will be a success because it's a bubble, once there's a problem inside, everything will be affected. As we read in the news, they are already practicing now, they conditioned themselves to the opening of the new season, and that's already great news. NBA is still happening and they are back to normal so the excitement is really high, so people are not talking a lot on the PBA return, besides, this is business, they just want to ensure the opening will be at the right timing.

No news in their official website, anyone had some rumors from other sources?

There's no official date yet for the opening. There are some side news that teams continuously doing their practice sessions. It means it's a high chance that the opening is near. I think they will push a single season only that's why they are not rushing everything. They can start at most, next month if 2 conferences or in August for a single conference.

But we are currently distracted by some basketball events today like NBA Conference Finals and FIBA Qualifiers so we don't feel much about the PBA environment for now. Smiley

Maybe not but once the PBA commence, I'm sure the excitement will build up as we will again see our favorite players. Some basketball fans are just a fan of the PBA, they don't like other sports because they are loyal to PBA, so it's a big gift for them if PBA will start its season soon. There's no MECQ, there's no reason to delay the opening of the new season.

With NBA east and west finals the attentions are all focus with the teams that they are supporting, as well with the gilas young cadets who performed very well.

PBA is not releasing any news in regards to the date of opening, but likewise the teams are on their respective practices meaning that the preparations for the incoming games are taken seriously.

it's a matter of decisioning whether single or two conference for this year.

Of course, there's a playoff but it's different because you playoffs can be seen in the morning while PBA can be seen in the afternoon, more games to bet means more fun on my part.  Grin

There are always lots of betting options on the NBA that are not just limited to the usual Moneyline, handicap, O/U, etc in PBA so you shouldn't feel much bored if there's currently no PBA to bet and watch.

Unless you are gambling mostly on live bets in PBA? That really affects your gambling experience.

With the current action on the NBA playoffs, I totally even forgot to follow PBA updates about the opening. It's always on-talks, being discussed, waiting for approval, etc. No development everyday.

Maybe the commissioner just wants to try these young players to the FIBA world and see if the Gilas could compete well. Actually, our main purpose here is just to be in the FIBA world, that is already our greatest achievement as we can never win against very talk American and European players. You can get the top players in the PBA but they don't have the same chemistry as the current roster, that would still be useless IMO.

I think they aren't wasting money just for the purpose to be in the FIBA World even the chance is low to compete with qualifiers there. Our players are putting in all their efforts so at least it's not just they just want to be in the FIBA World but rather a recognition to the country as if we able to make it at least semis, our country might host several international basketball events in the future (with PH hosting FIBA World in 2023 alongside 2 Asian countries).

There are lots of ways to try these young players on the international stage and that's what currently is going on but not to the point that they should also be the same roster once we faced the monsters outside our region where the likes of SoKor and the Asian Giant China is even struggling. It's a wasted opportunity if Gilas won't use the service of the experienced players and go full blast with the cadets on the FIBA World. FIBA World happened only once per 4 years with the qualifiers on a yearly basis. Gilas can still utilize some of the experienced PBA players who are still at their peak.

A combination of young players and experienced ones would be good.

Let's enjoy the NBA first, the NBA Finals will be over next month and that time maybe is a good start for the PBA.
Fewer games mean fewer bets but fewer losses, that's my take. Grin

We are only hearing rumors, but that's okay, it's information to take and it's just right the organization will not publish stories that are rumors only, the moment they'll publish, that should be official and that is the good news we are all waiting for.

We are about to end this month and there's still no clear update as to when the PBA season will commence.

I'm a bit bored already, I like to see some action and why aren't they making news or update regarding the new season.
Our eyes are focus on the FIBA ASIA qualifier, but we also like to see the PBA start its season as I believe they have started practicing for almost a month already.

No news in their official website, anyone had some rumors from other sources?

There's an article on the FB page of somebody that posted all about PBA and he said that in a few days, IATF will tackle the plea of the PBA commissioner's office about the possible opening next month. I just forget where that page is but I think there is some truth to it as NCR is now declared a low risk area so restrictions will also ease up.
That's nice to know, I thought they are not anymore thinking of starting a new season.

It's been a while so it's just normal to miss the PBA as I would love betting on the games.

Don't be bored mate, there's still the ongoing NBA playoffs happening.  Grin

Just as we're talking last time about Ravena's transfer and disappointment into B League. There's another Filipino that's being imported by a team in the B League and I guess that Japan's scouting team is looking for Filipino players and this is a sign that there could be more from our homeland that they'll take into their country for the B League.  Cool
(https://www.spin.ph/basketball/juan-gdl-heads-to-japan-a2437-20210623)
We might not see these PBA players going to other countries to play because of their commitment in their respective teams but we already saw 2 future PBA players playing outside PH just to have experience.
I can't blame Japan though if they will get players from our country because they are offering higher salary and a better basketball experience (at least for me) than here.

Like I said, Japan getting Thirdy will have a domino effect and more and more players whether they aren't PBA players or not will try their luck and play into another country.
Some that have contracts that are about to end might be scouted and it's all on them if they're going to accept such offers which is for sure better than their current career in PBA. But there's an assurance that they might have a long run in the PBA and it's a security for them if they stay. So, it's likely that those players that might accept those offers are the younger ones and those that can have a longer career outside of PBA and can explore more with their careers. And the older ones, they'll just look into those players that have been scouted and will just support them.

Ohh thanks, wow! I'm surprised the Philippines were able to compete with China well, this young lineup is really legit, China is a superior team and yet they were able to tie the score in this tune-up game. I would say, we have a good future ahead. Kail Sotto leads the Gilas with 13 points, this guy is not overrated.

Not at all, Kai Sotto is silently working and he's doing the job so well. The cadets are really performing they almost win the game based from some videos from youtube.

This newly formed team if being guided by veterans and jive well with the system.
The future of Gilas is really far, we have that glimpse from how they are working right now.

To be able to compete with China which we were bully by that team before is a big achievement. The current lineup is full of strength and they are hungry to win because they are well motivated due to the support of the Filipino fans. The success of Gilas is the success of the Philippines so they are really working hard.

Looking forward for more success and more pride for our country.
That's 100% if we work for the same coach.

Agree to that and hopefully he won't be replaced by Chot Reyes, former team Gilas head coach and incoming or coming back coach of TNT.

This squad is fully motivated and they are displaying great talents, bringing more fans to start watching and believing again after that controversial fight against the Aussie.

After that good line up, the following Gilas sadly failed the expectations. Now that this newly formed young cadets are performing with the coach that they  really respect,  it's really nice to see them playing with high hopes of keeps on winning.

Even the coach himself exceeded his expectation on the current Gilas line up.

GILAS Pilipinas coach Tab Baldwin is a hard man to please, but he admitted Gilas Pilipinas exceeded his expectations inside the Clark bubble ahead of the Fiba Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade.

"I was pretty realistic coming in," Baldwin said. "And my expectations weren't very high, so the fact that they've exceeded my expectations doesn't take any of the pressure off from trying to make progress in every practice and in every game."

It's really great to see this kind of news as this only means one thing, the current Gilas roster is working hard and they are fighting to win against any team. They are like the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA where people does not believe could upset a great teams but they did.

Kinda surprising because China players are tall but their NBA Player Zhou Qi didn't play in that game but overall, its a tune-up game only and it ended up as a draw.
In terms of performance though, yes it looks surprising but this just shows that the future of these young players are bright. I just hope that they will have a successful careers in basketball.

Height-wise, I think the Gilas cadets now are at par with the current Chinese roster and I'm too is surprised with their recent performance against China. Though it's only a tune-up game still it boosts the morale and confidence of these young cagers.

There are players from both sides that didn't suit for that game because it's only an exhibition match, the only thing that the cadets gained from that is the experience that they have played against a powerhouse of Asia because they might not meet them in the qualifiers.

I think Dwight Ramos also did not play for Gilas in that game, and therefore we can call it a fair match for each team. I like the competitiveness of the Gilas, even the biggest teams, Gilas are not intimidated, they just keep pushing to win like a machine, and kudos to the coaching staff for making it possible.
