Cone excited to see a 'changed' Slaughter return to Ginebra
Quote
The champion mentor hopes the act of the 7-foot Slaughter to reach out to top brasses of the franchise would lead to a renewed and better relationship with the only PBA team the center has played for.
Business is business, a management can anytime get rid of the player if they think they can benefit in exchange of him, and the rumor might be correct, Ginebra trying to get C. Stand in exchange for Slaughter, but this guy has some pride, he doesn't want to be in a shitty team, so things happen.

Rumors won't be there for nothing, despite of that noise that he will be traded for C.Stan, this guy chose to leave the league for a while and take his chances to develop his skills for further opportunities.

He's not willing to move to another team and let his career died after, instead he move forward and find ways to get away from this posssible exchange between him and C.Stand.

We will know now if the franchise will accept him back and offer another contract,
more on the business side as the team continue the chase of winning more rings,
if they see value for him chance is very possible to bring him back.

That's the question where the answer is not clear, he is training in the US, so why would he still come back in the Philippines. Well, if he will not be successful in the US, with his height, some teams will be interested on him, and you are right TNT might signed him, but how is it going to affect the play of the TNT since this team loves to run.

Training is the US was Greg's lame alibi of his opposition on his possible trade with Cstand. He is 30+ years old and no amount of training could change his style of play at this age.

Though he still have no contract with Ginebra, the Kings still hold the rights of Slaughter and this may change with the current rule which allows restricted free agent to chose teams they wanted to play with.

If i were Greg, i'll move away from SMC teams and realize that all of this is part of the business and everybody in the PBA at the moment is tradable except the name Junemar Fajardo.

My message to Greg Slaughter, be a man brader and show to the Filipino basketball fans that Chua is wrong with this move, after all you are still in demand in the PBA because a big man like you still is valuable.

I believe your opinion is correct, maybe it's just his alibi to train in the US, and you are right, Big man in the PBA is in demand and I think if he wants to play and still earn money, he should play but not in SMC teams, TNT and Phoenix should be a good team to play with.

but how is it going to affect the play of the TNT since this team loves to run.

If they'll sign him, they need to make a big adjustment, from a high scoring team, TNT will become a low scoring team like the Ginebra Kings. I think I like that since TNT sometimes does not have a good defense, and though they are good as an offensive team, their weakness are exposed against a good team like the Ginebra Kings and the SMB.

Anyways, if you read the article about Chua's response, we can consider that Slaughter's return is still has a low chance "for now". Maybe because it's early to get back in business (PBA trade talks, signing, etc.) as we are in the Holiday season and still has several months to go before the PBA opening.

Damn, Chua have the edge on this battle. Ginebra won the championship without Slaughter, that is his card and he is also a very proud guy, definitely dangerous to those SMC players who have attitude problem. TR7 has changed since he talked to Chua and i hope that this problem with Greg will be ironed out and the latter will be back in the lineup.

Being a sports director of SMC, he will do his best to make Ginebra a title contender every conference because it is only Ginebra that can fill the Araneta Coliseum whenever they are in the finals. I think this "Cstand for Greg" issue still open.

I think Slaughter if he wants to come back in the PBA, he should play another team, like the TNT maybe so he can be free from any issue behind. Ginebra have already live without him, and they have the successful, however, we cannot say it would last since Fajardo the best player in the PBA was resting that time, and when he comes back, no other big man can limit him other than Slaughter.

It's been in the news that Greg Slaughter apologizes for what "he did" before that leads to his contract not being renewed.
https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/greg-slaughter-apologizes-to-ginebra-management-expresses-desire-to-rejoin-kings-a795-20201229

And BGSM team governor Alfrancis Chua responded: "There is no bad blood. I think he's mature enough to realize that what he did is wrong."
https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/alfrancis-chua-on-greg-slaughter-s-return-to-ginebra-a1931-20201229

Looks like there's really a "big issue" behind that we didn't know. I'm curious about what Slaughter did. Referring to this article back during the time when Slaughter is on the hot topic,  I didn't found a clear answer but just the rumor of the possible trade between him and Christian Standhardinger.

Anyways, if you read the article about Chua's response, we can consider that Slaughter's return is still has a low chance "for now". Oh. This is new to most of us. I don't also have an idea what Greg did and this article just came out through your share. If it's not shared, I won't know that there's an issue with Greg. That's the consequence of the action of Greg, if it's really a foul act then there will be no consideration and he'll be out of the team. It's Chua that have said it and it's a hint that they'll push him outside. Whatever lesson is Chua saying to be learned by Greg, I hope that someone inside will release whatever happened.

Scottie Thompson just needs to work on being a consistent player.

He saved lots of games of Ginebra via his clutch shots during the playoffs but his average is low. Maybe because Pringle is the center of their offense.

But one thing for sure that Scottie will be a franchise player of Brgy. Ginebra and maybe become the face of the team in the future when his seniors are now retired.
He will get there someday, I think that he is doing what he can for the Team, even Tim Cone believes in him. He said in an interview that he needs to be more aggressive with his plays because he believes that it helps his team a lot. He will be a franchise player for the team, remember that he was the Former Finals MVP. If he can synergize his plays with Pringle I think that it spur him to greater heights.

That's the beauty of this team, they are well balance  they don't need  to become a ball hog to give. Pringle got all the  authorization to keep attacking to break the defense.

All the role players knew how to work with him and that's includes Thompson, he's not asking that much for the ball but he work and
keep moving in case drop may happened then he's there ready to take the shot.

It's more exciting season after the bubble as SMB's stars players, Fajardo and Romeo are both expected to play,
it will test BGSM to face to face with their sister company who have deeper squad like them.

This upcoming draft is an exciting one as it is talent laden poll. Dwight  Ramos has not yet filed his application for the draft but there are big names in the pool that exciting to watch in the PBA, Jason Brickman, Munzon to name a few.

Who do you think will be the number one pick over-all this upcoming draft?
Munzon is what I see the #1 pick right now. He played very good in 3x3 and he is very athletic too.

I love to see these rookies playing in the PBA. Most of them are very promising as I see. I'm still waiting for Andre Paras to be included in the draft pool too Smiley

Agree, Munzon is a very promising player but for him to be the #1 pick over-all defends on who's got the right to pick #1. AFAIK it is Blackwater who will pick first and i think they won't select a wingman if a PF or Center prospect is available.

My pick for the number 1 overall is Troy Rike if Thirdy Ravena won't be submitting his draft application. Troy stands 6 foot 8 and a banger which could slow down somehow opponents bigs.

As long as Pringle is their, there's someone who can provide the offense they need.

Scottie is good, but he is not like Pringle who can generate a lot of points, scottie is just some kind of player who helps in the defense and so a little of offense. Sometimes, his points is even lower than his rebounds, he is a beast in that department.

Scottie Thompson is good and there's no doubt about that, but let's just refrain from comparing him to an NBA All-Star or Superstar (Rodman, Westbrook etc.) as the environment have a big difference. Cheesy He has his own play different to mentioned NBA players here.

One thing i admire about Scottie Thompson is that he is brave enough to take the shot. That's is part of the opponent's game plan to leave Scottie Thompson open rather than Tenorio or Pringle which has a higher percentage than Thompson on that area. There's a saying "Pick your poison", i think that's it.

Like for example in Game 2 of the recent PBA finals, he is struggling throughout game and don't have much contribution.

But look, he's still brave enough to take that clutch shot and that's the only field goal he made on that game. Memorable one on his career.

I only remember the Yap brothers to perform well in one team.

Do you mean James Yap and Roger Yap here?

They aren't brothers mate.

Scottie has a very decent number with 11.45 PPG, 8.82 RPG, and 6.36 APG

source : https://www.pba.ph/players/scottie-thompson#

I think that data was on the last conference alone and I would say it's really a big improvement, he is almost an all around player, a little big short by westbrook's triple double but no doubt a better team player than WB.

Agree to that! better than WB as he's very wise and act as role player than treat himself as superstar,  A kind gestures that respect his
teammates.

If you have this kind of a guy inside your team who can help boosting everyone, he's small but he's capabilities challenged all his teammates
that there's nothing impossible if you really bring all your best when you are playing.

Excited to see what more addition to his performance, aside from his outside shots
I'm also aiming for him to keep attacking and drop the ball with Japet or whoever
inside.

Ever wonder why Scottie Thompson had a good 3 point shooting percentage in the bubble?

~snip~...

The case of Scottie Thompson is not different on that of SMB's Chris Ross. He is more of a defensive player when he came to SMB and have very low percentage on the outside but that all change when opponents always leave him open. His confidence is high shooting those 3's because there is a high chance that they will get the offensive rebound because of JMF15. It's just a matter of confidence.

Nice comparison there, and I completely agree with that, Scottie Thompson is younger and he is learning many things to improve his game. Chris Ross when starting was also not a good 3 point shooter, he just developed his game overtime and look how good he is now.
