Kai Sotto is putting all his efforts to make an NBA debut in the future. If he won't be listed in the NBA 2021 draft, I think he will still continue to work on NBA training camp. These players that dreamed of participating in the NBA do have pride so I don't think they will end up playing on PBA but only on the international league representing the Philippines.

For example, Kobe Paras is almost overqualified for becoming a PBA draftee but remains to play in the global league. After several years of training in the US, these type of players won't just accept the fact that they will instead land playing on the PBA. So to continue his goal, he will just play representing the country in international leagues. That's what I'm expecting too for Kai Sotto. He will not consider playing in PBA because of the pride but will play as a local squad in international competition for a much better impression. A good one as we need big man in international competition.

We don't know his plan yet, he has the height and the skills as well, I think he can develop himself as a player and he is still young so I think he has a good future ahead of him. I'm actually keeping my eye on Kai Sotto as lots of good video or article I read online and it's really hyping up the expectation of the people.

I believe that too! it won't stop there if in case he won't get the chance as early as now, he's young and he's skills are capable in developing more. If he will pursue his intentions to play inside NBA, playing in international league will exposed him more. I remember that there are offers for him that he's dad Ervin Sotto also considering in case his chance is not yet now for NBA.

He needs all the support from he's fellow kababayan, supporting him morally to desire more and do much deeper practices and conditioning in he's preparations for any international league and the NBA itself.

What I am seeing is people is really supporting him, he is hype because people wants to see him as the first NBA player in the Philippines. Imagine that, it will bring the Philippines in the map of basketball sports especially if Kai will soon play as one of the starters in whatever team would sign him.

It's a very big ambition but I hope he will dream big.

Very thin, he looked like a young Rafi Reavis which is still active with the Magnolia uniform. Well, we never really know where he would land if he will play in the PBA, but one thing is sure, big teams will be looking for him, the competition is probably between Cojuangco and Pangilinan.

If he choose to play in the PBA for sure those two tycoon will offer him a good compensation, though Kai also have other options in case his journey towards NBA won't happened, Euro league or other asian leagues also eyeing for him and it will be much bigger in terms of money concerns.

Quote
There's a lot of hype about him, just like when Kobe Paras was still in the US, hopefully he will not fail, but if even he will, we will be happy to see him in the PBA with Magnolia uniform, lol.

Still got that opportunites as he still seeking for it, this gilas thing will give him more exposures in case the team will be more supportive for him, he'll be able to practice more competing with other asian naturals who also seeking for the same spotlight.

With how hype he is, I'm afraid he would just land with the SMB team.

Just saw this picture on social media with a caption "Does a Magnolia Hotshots Jersey look good on Kai Sotto?"

Do you have a glimpse of the future bro  Grin?

I agree with most of the users here that the ending of Kai's journey is the PBA. Don't bash me here, but i'm just telling what i have seen in him. He may not be the next Junemar Fajardo of the PBA because of the style of play but i saw him as the next Marlou Aquino but a better version.

Do you think he is?

Caguioa says Scottie like a Rodman 'with a better offensive game'

Jordan's game is mostly inside but Scottie Thompson can already shoot 3s with consistency, but his skills in rebounding is quite exceptional.
He is not selfish, he rebounds, he pass and he shots the ball when he is open, I think Scottie is a good teammate, an underrated player because we are all looking at the SMB and those players with fancy handles.

I wonder if Kai will become the next Junemar Fajardo because of his height. However, he still need to become more tough inside the court. But I know that as his age added, his body will grow and become more tough.

No as a next JMF. He will instead become the next Greg Slaughter. Smiley

Let's accept the fact that Kai Sotto won't be tough anymore in terms of muscle fight on the inside area. His body won't become built of the likes of JMF. That's the disadvantage of a height within that level. It has a cost if he will shift into pure bulky. He can't do both at the same time.

What he needs to be is the likes of Yao Ming that focus on good shooting percentage instead of mostly battling inside as it will be an advantage for him with the lack of tall players in PBA, if ever he will be drafted in the league.

Too early for that. Kai can adjust as he's age gives him the advantages. He won't need to be the next JMF or something, what is best is for him to fulfil his dream to become the first filipino pure blooded NBA player.

Seeing his improvements base from those vid clips, it's giving the fans an idea on how he'll contribute just enough space and exposures
for this kid plus support from his teammates.

Our country needs more young guns like him, Height and skills advantage in where we are lacking until today.

Actually I believe we just lack some height, in terms of skills, we can compete with other teams and in fact we reach the FIBA world cup despite of our line up which is small compared to other countries, so having a tall and skillful players is really a blessing to us.

100% agree with you, PBA is lacking of big man and any team could go after Kai Sotto.

but for now, he is chasing his biggest dreams which is to play in the biggest league in the world which is the NBA. Some are hyping him while some does not believe he can make it, it's a mix opinion but let's see how his journey will end up in the US because if he fail, there's still PBA that is willing to accept him.

He was hoping though,

Kai Sotto hopes his G League stint will raise his ranking for the 2021 NBA Draft

ATM, he need to add muscle but may jeopardized his mobility which is a very important asset on today's generation of bigs.

I think you are right, if the Philippines will face a team that is so physical like the Australia, he might have some trouble inside because most of the Gilas players are not tall and physical. However, I don't want to judge right away without seeing him play, he is training in the US so probably he has already improve as well. You know what I feel now, I'm just excited to see him play and just hope that we will see our expectation from him.

This is only a FIBA Asia, Philippines is very competitive and we would like to see the Gilas Pilipinas improve.

Same here. I just want him to play with the nationals and see how he improved after that training from US. This kid have a lots of room to improve since he's still young and he have all the opportunities, joining and representing the country is not knew to him but now he's going up to the next level of challenge.

Looking forward to see how the coaching staff will blend him up to the team, early to start practicing might
help the entire squad being familiar with each other helps a lot for sure.

But Finally we will be able to see him in FIBA with other popular players in the Philippines.

Do you know the current line up of the FIBA? I think I read somewhere that most of the players are not coming from the PBA.

Kai is tall actually but as a center, he needs to be more physical inside, but to compare with Fajardo, I guess let's just witness on what his performance when he will play for the country.

But I know that as his age added, his body will grow and become more tough. As the new generation of Fiba players in Philippines, I think being dependent in Kai should be given. He has already an experience and training outside the country. For sure, his international experience will bring him more confident and improved his skills in basketball.

Good news.

Kai Sotto to play for Gilas in February window of Fiba qualifiers at Clark

Quote
KAI Sotto is set for his debut with the Gilas Pilipinas men's basketball team.

"I will be joining the national team," he said in a short video shown during the Fiba Smart Global Press Conference on Thursday. "I am excited. I hope we bring our best. Sobrang special nito para sa ating lahat."

It's his debut, what can we expect from him.

I just want to ask your opinion, Fajardo is the best player in the PBA but in FIBA he seemed not recognized, do you think Kai Sotto will bring our flag to success? and will he be more recognize?

Too early to tell but the way i see it, it's a hill climb for Kai Sotto to be effective in FIBA. To be effective he got to handle the ball like Andre Blatche did. I have pitied the kid as non-basketball people are hyping and putting pressures on the shoulder of Kai.

This is going to be the next set up for the PBA.

https://pba.ph/news/next-up-is-closed-circuit-pba-tourney

AFTER a bubble tourney in Clark, next up could well be a closed-circuit concept to start PBA Season 46 in April.

Quote
"If vaccine is not yet available, we'll likely go for closed-circuit which we had implemented in our return to practices prior to the Clark bubble tourney," said PBA commissioner Willie Marcial.

"Closed-circuit concept is a lot more lenient, requiring home-venue-home scheme; not lockdown in one place for the entire delegation as what we did in Clark," Marcial explained.

The Clark bubble was a big success but entailed a huge amount (P65 million for two months and a half) and tremendous sacrifice and hard work from all involved.

Mental health is one issue in a bubble.

At least this one is better, they can go home with their family unlike the bubble where they will have to stay inside the place until the conference is over. This tells that people are now more discipline compared in the past, so hopefully it will be a successful one.
