Just a quick update, odds for the first game are already out just now.

Blackwater is +7.5
Total is 201.5

It's too high. Usually, this kind of handicap looks like a trap, but since Blackwater is just really a bad team, at least that's what is labeled for them. I don't know if they'll change this season with a new import. In the end, it would still become a battle of imports, and you know, if Blackwater's import turns out to be a dominant one, then an upset is likely to happen. So, while taking the handicap is attractive, I think the moneyline would provide more excitement.

Hopefully, Coach Yeng can elevate ROS's performance as he has done in the past. If that doesn't happen, I might start believing that his coaching style has become obsolete.

His coaching style still have that big impact for the team, but the players that he managing I think that's the big difference compared from those players that he handled from the past. I personally can say that they still don't have that caliber to be a championship competitor not unless the import that they are bringing is someone who can elevate everyone. That might bring the big impact to ROS, too early for concluding, it's the first game and everything can happen maybe better to bet during the live game to see it first the performances of each teams.

Coach Yeng is a relevant coach and his coaching style still give a huge impact to their team since many players still get motivated to play more better basketball because they don't want to get scolded by their coach. But the problem their is they can't get more better player since sister companies are always manipulating the league by taking those strong rosters that's why for them its really hard to get better players since they can't take any action to those big companies which manipulate the league. Maybe your right and this season their only hope is to get a impressive import that can help their team in various aspect so that they can possibly win a championship this season. But I really doubt it will happen since they would provably struggle since SMB and MVP group has  so many stars on their team.

So far, no odds yet even though its less than 20 hours to go before the game.

There are no odds available for this particular game yet, but for the other game, Meralco vs. ROS, the odds have already been released.

For the point spread: -3.5 Meralco
For the total: 197.5

In my view, I'm going to bet on Meralco, as I favor them being a defensive team. Although it's not easy to predict this early on which team will play impressively, I'm going to trust my gut feeling. Meralco is known for being a good team with solid chemistry, and Chris Newsome is surely very confident after winning a gold medal and playing excellent defense against RHJ.

Just a quick update, odds for the first game are already out just now.

Though no odds yet but i have my eye on Blackwater because Converge has lost their key players to SMC teams.

Isn't Blackwater like a farm team? Even though Converge released two key players, I still think they're a stronger team than Blackwater. So, I believe the quality of the imports on both teams will make a big difference. The team with the better import will likely win.

I expect this game to be close, so I might consider taking the handicap for Blackwater because I think they'll be the underdog.

Yeah, you are right mate, the quality of imports will make the difference even if Converge has a little edge on the local players but for me it doesn't matter on these two teams but of course i will take the one with handicap when betting for Blackwater. So far, no odds yet even though its less than 20 hours to go before the game.

Later, we are going to check the odds for this matchup. The game is quite early, and I might not be able to watch it as I'll be busy tomorrow. However, I have my eyes on the Bolts vs. ROS game. Hopefully, Coach Yeng can elevate ROS's performance as he has done in the past. If that doesn't happen, I might start believing that his coaching style has become obsolete.

That's the rumor, but it doesn't matter much because we have imports that could make the team better. It would be different if it were an all-Filipino cup, as the most talented players are not in the farm team; they are already picked up by larger teams like SMB and TNT. Personally, I don't know who the imports are on these teams, so I might just wait and bet live, perhaps after the first quarter, to see which team has the better import.

I expect this game to be close, so I might consider taking the handicap for Blackwater because I think they'll be the underdog.

That would be a better strategy, and an interesting fact is that weaker teams often perform well in the early stages of the conference. So, the best chance to support them is during their first game.

Are you watching the game now? It seems like TNT is really feeling the loss of Pogoy and Mikey Williams, as they are currently trailing. Though I can say it's a close game now, since Castro isn't playing well, I think their import will be tired in the second half. I thought the high spread was overvalued, but there's a big chance that Magnolia will win this game and cover the spread. Anyway, I think I'm going to place a live bet after the first half since there's currently no live betting on my sportsbook.

Yes, it's tough to watch TNT trailing by a lot of points. They used to be a strong team, and it's surprising to see them losing by such a big difference. There's still the second half left, but if you believe they can make a comeback, TNT's moneyline might give you some appealing odds.

I have not bet for the game last night because i'm still observing the imports and i could say that this Tyler Bey can play and Magnolia has a bright future ahead in this conference at least for me. Bey registered 31 points and 20 rebounds in an impressive outing against an undermanned TNT Katropa.

Games on Wednesday:

Blackwater vs Converge
Meralco vs ROS

Though no odds yet but i have my eye on Blackwater because Converge has lost their key players to SMC teams.

Here's the full criteria.

Quote
The criteria used since the 2022–23 PBA season are as follows:[1]

45% average statistical points
30% press and media votes
25% players' votes

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PBA_Most_Valuable_Player_Award

If I'm not mistaken, that article is outdated. We are not sure of the percentage.

Aside from that, the PBA's Commissioner's Office is also part of the voting criteria. We should see the percentage for each though.

Season 47 is the basis of the recent MVP award and Fajardo played 46 games there where he puts his best stats after being injured for long.

I don't know why some people can't believe that Junemar still have won the MVP for the seventh time. Come on guys, the guy deserve it and we can see that there's a statistics basis for that so it's not hokus pokus that he has won it. Maybe not from the folks here in forum guys but in social medias, I have seen a lot of them can't believe on it. As for the TNT game, I agree that Mikey is really needed by them and I think that's the reason why he's also hard on the team and trying to make feel important of himself.

Sorry kabayan if I will answer you since I'm also once of those who can't believe that Abay can win that title since his performances is not in the same level from how I look at him before,  I mean yes he deserves to win and no question about that, statistics and voting might give him an edge against scottie and CStand and thays what happen he win  and he takes the award  and add the trophy to keep establishing his goat status don't get me wrong 😉 establishing means putting the big gap behind to anyone who play from this league 😉

It's not over yet, there's still hope in the last quarter as TNT is only down by 8 points. Even if they don't win, they might at least cover the spread. Miller is the better import in this game, but I hope he doesn't run out of energy. Oftana is currently the top contributor among the local players. The PBA is a very unpredictable league, and a lot can happen in the last 12 minutes. So, let's enjoy watching the game. I thought it was going to be boring, but it turned out to be an entertaining matchup.

There are many criteria in winning an MVP award like statistical points on which Fajardo was the leader, players' votes, media vote. We know that Cstand is not so sociable with the media so may be that is one reason he did not covet this award.

In term of GOAT discussion, i do agree that JMF15 is the GOAT in the PBA because of the 7 MVP awards.

It's no surprise that JMF won because even though he's currently the best in the NBA, he's not a hated player because of his humility. Thanks for mentioning the criteria. I did a quick research and found out that a player's statistics for a specific season make up only 45% of the total criteria.

Here's the full criteria.

Wow, Junemar Fajardo just got his seventh MVP award in the PBA, just wondering if who's gonna break this record.

For me, he deserves this one and most likely he will capture his 8th because he is so disciplined on his body.

https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/june-mar-fajardo-wins-a-seventh-pba-mvp-award-a793-20231105?ref=home_feed_1

To be honest, I didn't expect him to win another MVP award, especially after his team's not-so-impressive performance last season. But it happened, so I guess even if Fajardo doesn't play as he did before, he can still dominate. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins another MVP now that he's fully healthy and confident after playing in the FIBA World Cup and Asian Cup. There might be no stopping him, and who knows, maybe we can start considering him in the conversation of being one of the greatest of all time (GOAT) in the PBA.

I was thinking how that happened I'm a Beermen fan but for me Scottie or CStand should have that award, not sure if how PBA score JMF to earn another MVP title just like you mentioned him and his team didn't performed that well last season and for me it was the Gin Kings though TNT snatch a title against them but the total performance I still giving my vote either with Scottie or CStand, hehe..

But moving forward, with the way JMF is playin during that last FIBA games it might be a quick with what we may expect from him this upcoming season, earning another MVP both season and finals MVP is not that far to happen.

Congrats Abay!
