Been mining for quite some time, but never cared to post here before.  Wild watching DOGE coin rise.  If it breaks 100 this week it really might go to the moooooon!!

Breaking 300 volume higher than btc this is obviously institutional investors i wouldnt be surprised if they start pumping other coins like devcoin which was about the value before the pump.

Any one who hasn't should take a look at Battlecoin (BCX) and the "Arena" that it proposes.

It plans to be the currency used inMulti-Pool that defaults to mining the most profitable coin at the time however, for the right amount of money, spent in Battlecoin, one may temporarily change the pools Hash to another coin, to destroy a Scam coin or Hash their own for example. The miners would be compensated in Battlecoin to make up for the time spent not mining the most profitable coin.

More info here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bcx-battlecoin-official-thread-354612

I'm stuck in Noob mode and would love to ask the Dev about an OSX Wallet. So if your interested in the coin and find your way there and have the ability to ask about that for me, please do and take this internet high-five in advance.

Thank you

Just got the Windows Wallet to open nicely using Wine 1.7.10 if anyone else was looking to get that going on OSX

Absolutely loving the idea of crypto currencies and the constitutional and simply just ideology behind it. I am a newbie, however, despite all the reading I do and ventures into mining various new coins, I always end up back at Multipool.US. The developers and administrators of that site have their sheit together! THeir selection of coins to mine is A+
I don't know these folks and am not advertising them at all. I am simply a guy with barely 1MHash/s equipment and this site has helped remove much of the frustration with crypto currency mining and which ones to actually mine. IMHO
Good luck to everyone! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Is it better to invest in CPU or GPU?

I think there are still some coins worth looking at that are CPU only, such as PTS and maybe FZ.

Anyone else CPU-Mining anything worthwhile?

And Ripple will be the most hardcore new crypto currencie !!

"100 billion total Ripples (XRP) with all of them "pre-mined," as Ripple is not a cryptocurrency.
Ripple Labs possesses some 50 billion Ripples in hopes they will increase in value."

The above is a review from Heavy.com.

My opinion is that Ripple doesn't contain the key element, mining. If the entire community doesn't feel engaged, then Ripple is not generating interest or market value.

I totally agree to that, Ripples and Nxt are all scams to me; mining is fun and makes a new crypto fair, why are many of these new coins bragging about not offering any mining rewards?  Many really good cryptos' prices are depressed these days, such as CGB (Cryptogenic Bullion) so to me it's time to buy some; at least I know I am buying something that was mined.

my personal CHECKLIST to find your "perfect" crypto coin currency (distinguish a quality-coin from the mass of trash-coins. )
I hope this will be helpful for you

TRANSPARENCY / TRUSTWORTHY:
1. Are the full specifications easy to find on bitcointalk.de or on a website of this coin?
2. Is the source code available for this coin?
3. Does a website exist? Is the website online? Is the URL of the website changing very often? Are the full specifications easy to find on the website?
4. Is there a hint that the coin is NOT PREMINED or a special hint of the premine-percentage! (If there are many entries in the blockchain that are older than the official release date of the coin, then you should be suspicious!)

TECHNICAL RELIABILITY:
1. any damaged or forked blockchains in the past?
2. If a critical bug appeared: Did the author offer a mandatory update very soon to fix it?
3. Is the coin available on several exchanges?
4. Did an exchange remove this coin because of technical issues?
5. Is the source code actively maintained? When was the last update?

INNOVATIONS:
1. Does the coin or the wallet offer some interesting innovations?
For expample:
1.1. Proof-of-Stake (POS) (for example: peercoin, novacoin, yacoin, philosopherstone, diamond)
1.2. possibility to add a transaction message to a transaction (for example: Florincoin, philosopherstone)
1.3. random blocks (for example: Luckycoin, philosopherstone)

I know it is some work to go through this checklist for each coin to find the right coin for you. But it might be worth it. If I have forgotten an important item for this checklist please tell me and I will add it.
