Yes altcoin is of course, different from bitcoin. The algorithm of btc mining is PoW, while the other coins have PoS algo.
The blocktime, transaction speed, fees, and total supply are different too. But they are still same, cryptocurrencies.
I prefer to using altcoins because it has faster blocktime speed for doing transactions.

I think all crypto can go to the moon. all depends on the development and progress of the coin. if it moves well and gets a good response from the market I think it will be able to the moon. many new altcoin cases are missing from the market because the team of developers is not responsible and just leaves the project.

I'm not sure that in the future alternative currencies will be needed to peoples. Creating alts is a way to attract investment. The main bulk of alts is unnecessary to anyone. Perhaps in the future, the coins of some projects turn into digital securities.

by investing on good and great altcoins you can collect more bitcoin in your wallet
remember only buy a good altcoins and do not buy a shit alt,,
a good alt will increase its value in bitcoin terms, slowly but surely, wich mean you will get a bitcoin as your profit

of course you will get the benefits of Altcoin, Altcoin will give you money if the value of your coins goes up high. Altcoin has the potential and good quality will give you a big advantage if you are good at managing it. Altcoin has many advantages and depends on what coins are very profitable.

Bitcoin is the most trusted coin on our market, but Altcoins are much faster. BTC allows only 7 TPS and it is very slow in 2018. Ripple for example is around 1500 TPS. Furthermore, altcoins allow much cheaper transactions than BTC.
