So let me get this right?

Alpha Tech has cancelled everyone's orders, they are refunding 30% for only the customers who paid in full, those who only paid the deposit are shit out of luck, and those who paid using BTC are completely SOL?

That's how they thank all of their loyal customers who funded this project. As investors the customers have taken all of the risk, put up with all the delays, and are now being thanked by generously returning 30% of the funds (to select customers) and cancelling all orders.

Wow, I'm speechless, they've gotten away with murder. As a business they were already making a profit on each mining rig they sold. Example, their cost on a 250Mh/s Viper is probably 25% of the MSRP. In other words, for each one they sell they bring in enough money to build 4 more.

Essentially they got a massive custom built ASIC mining farm for free? Sounds like this may have been the plan from day one. I wanted to purchase a couple of Vipers from them but, when I saw the picture of their store front and learned they were accountants, I hesitated. It looks like I had good reason to hesitate. These crooked accountants planned this out all the way. It obvious when you look at all of their actions holistically. They clearly don't plan on staying on the radar. I suspect their biggest fear is to lose their accounting licences. These assholes need to be taught a lesson and they should have their lives completely ruined. I hope they go to jail.

You guys are being too nice to these jerks. Yes you want to get your money back and you should do everything possible to get it. Someone needs to organize a real criminal investigation to help put them behind bars.

The problem is that it costs additional money to fight them.  This doesn't guarantee any funds will be returned but does guarantee the loss of additional funds for the claimee.

Did I miss something? Wasn't there supposed to be an announcement about their next excuse for not shipping customer's miners. Have they gone totally dark, off the radar completely? Sure doesn't instill any confidence to those who are waiting for their rigs.

Their last update was the first week of october about them being several days ahead of schedule for assembly, after which the systems would automatically be shipped out. They said they'd be releasing another update within a week. It never came. Their forums are lighting up and it's all falling apart over there with their long-term fans starting to realize the truth.

They've gone dark, removed their address and contact from the website. If they have functional equipment, they're likely mining with it like BFL did. There's also the greater likelihood they don't have any functional gear (something went wrong/lack of assembly parts/etc). Lack of communication is always a bad sign, especially when they state their Manchester operation is for customer service and open communication--and then remove the paths for that.

Last call for the lifeboats before the ship sails.. you folks better get your lawsuits and demands in place before they disappear entirely. If you went through PayPal, badger paypal. Use the reference numbers provided on the preceding pages, PayPal has a history of Alpha Tech. Don't give up just because one representative is an idiot.

Since Alpha Sprouts Tech is silent I'm going to look into my magic eight ball for some answers.

It looks cloudy, hard to see, wait I think I see something, here it comes. Ah yes, the answer is "Ask again later".

I guess they are refunding everyone's 30% deposit because they don't plan to ever ship a product. If you paid via BTC you're SOL. The rest of the funds have been seized in one form or another and any refunds being sent are only going out because the funds are essentially frozen unless returned. If they actually built these mining rigs they are going to keep every last one of them for their own mining farm. They will mine with them until they are worthless and only then will they ever leave their possession. Since they kept 70% of everyone's money, excluding those who have gotten full refunds, they ended up with a free mining farm. Leave it to accountants to come up with a crazy SCHEME like this.

Will BitPay help us at all since they were the bitcoin payment processor?
This is what BitPay says:
"As a payment processor, BitPay has no recourse or involvement in the fulfillment of a transaction. For this same reason fully paid invoices require explicit merchant approval to be refunded."
and
"We have already received several complaints regarding this merchant. Our compliance team has already restricted the account activity and is trying to negotiate resolution of outstanding purchaser compliants with the merchant."
They cant help you to get your money back, but if you need proof of payment e.g. for court then they can provide u with the url of your paid invoice.

I can tell you from first hand experience that PayPal has an automated fraud alert system that freezes accounts that were either involved in or connected to some kind of activity that break their terms of service. With that said, I had done business with one of these fraudulent accounts through no fault of my own. PayPal automatically froze my account with a little under $2k USD in it for a total of 6 months. Then they invited me back like nothing ever happened and released my funds. Needless to say I'll never leave a penny in my PayPal account again. PayPal are crooks themselves, but there is a good chance they froze Alpha Sprouts money for some time, if not indefinitely.

I believe the paypal/frozen story was also corroborated by some users who said that PayPal had marked their account as fradulent and frozen, and was one of the reasons why they weren't immediately reversing matters. The CoinDesk article came after the fact.

Where's all the AT fan folk now?

I am very sure that it was cleared up before - paypal clearly stated that they were not holding any funds of Alpha's.  That was just another AT lie.
please show your sources. paypal wouldnt be able to actually "tell" anyone this.
You can dig back thru this whole thread for the history of that conversation if you want.  From what I recall, it was determined that under no circumstances would paypal have held funds from someone for the period of time alpha claimed.

Either way tho, why you would possibly believe AT about having funds held up at paypal, when they have cleared lied continuously, is beyond me, heh...  It was a pretty clear point the finger tactic when that coindesk article came out.

since they are giving some people paypal refunds it's either coming back from the frozen funds or a bank account that has actual money in it!
