I'm really getting curious now when they will have their first test miner built.
And the real stats like hashing power and Watts will be a big question till then.
Not to mention the heat problem, I'm afraid these Vipers will catch fire within an hour or make more noise than a Boeing 747 taking off...

Well they did say that they would be assembled and shipped from the chip manufacturer's location, which is India, not the UK. So they don't need the physical chips. Remember, these people outsourced everything.

As another poster mentioned, remember BlackArrow. I followed them from day one last year, and they still haven't shipped proper equipment. Hashfast is another one. I remember when they got their chips delivered to their doorstep, and days later found out it was essentially boxes of paperweights.

Best of luck for these folks. I agree with Cablez, they should deliver on just the deposits--but we know that won't happen.

So if I am seeing this correct, Alpha is claiming to have the chips in hand, but we are shown a picture taken of the chips in India @ Dexcel, per the GPS tag on the photos, correct?

From that we should assume that Alpha Technology is a front running or Dummy company of Dexcel.
And Dexcel is not just a chip manufacturer for this miner.
Incidence from top to bottom leads to that.

AM I right in thinking they were going to shop directly from India to overseas customers to avoid VAT & import complications?

That appears to be the case.

Note to Alpha:  I will accept your viper 250 for the deposit I paid for it, not a cent more.  Otherwise give me a refund!

Greetings Miners!

Now that we have working chips all we need to do is assemble these and ship; we are of course currently assembling the devices and shipping will follow once this is complete.

While we are regrettably late in our shipping schedule please note our hash rates are still 10 times originally promised and with our profit sharing scheme not to mention the batch 1 loyalty bonuses we believe we have done our best to make up for this. Generally speaking most if not all ASIC manufacturers have never delivered on time and with batch 1 soon behind we have every intention of taking what we have learned and overcoming this in our next generation product.

Best Regards,
Mohammed Akram
Director

Famous last words.  One of the other shitty manufacturers in the ASIC manufacturing space, my good friends at Black Arrow, who suck possibly worse than these shifty bastards, had their chips delivered in May, if memory serves.

After that it has been a slew of problems, not to mention issues arising from proper CE, UL etc. certifications, or lack thereof, it would seem.  Of course they issued the same sunshine up your ass notice saying that they'd receive chips on X day, I think it was May 7, and start shipping literally the next day, with all orders going out within a month or some such bullshit.  Yeah, right.  somewhere around 5 months after those retards got their chips in, a lot, if not most, people have still not received their miners.

the same is true for Alpha.  They need testing.  they need quality markings.  they will need to work kinks out more likely than not.  You can't simply knock these together and ship them out.  these are electrical devices pulling a shit-ton of power and running in people's homes.

As much as people may want to get these ASAP, as Black Arrow found out, the result can be literally be catastrophic if the quality is not vetted thoroughly, as those morons shipped miners that literally started on fire.  Nice job, Black Arrow, you bunch of lying, not to mention grossly incompetent, shitbags.

Alpha has a long way to go.  I will admit I'm surprised they even have the chips.  I'll be more surprised if things go anywhere close to as planned and they ship any major quantity within the next month.

So 200 pages in and they finally have some chips that may or may not work?  Is that a record, lol?

Update: https://alpha-t.net/news/viper-chip/

Greetings Miners!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us throughout this journey. We know there has been some speculation about us and our project and we are now glad to finally put that to rest, and show you proof of our fabricated and packaged Viper chips that are now in hand.

https://alpha-t.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/image-2.jpeg

https://alpha-t.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/image.jpeg

This is a major milestone and hurdle we have overcome in terms of risk, time and money. Now that we have working chips all we need to do is assemble these and ship; we are of course currently assembling the devices and shipping will follow once this is complete. All fully paid orders should be ‘processing’ and will change to ‘completed’ once the order has shipped. We will also be quickly releasing a video demonstrating our chips hashing as an update to the community.

Where many new ASIC companies have failed to tape-out and produce working chips we have succeeded.
