This is the post what cracked me up:

"Well, that is a bit dissapointing but the new photos are great.
I appreciate your honest and consistent updates.
Just promise me you'll beat the other ASIC guys to market!"

Wonder which company this poster is referencing. Can't possibly be BFL. Heatsinks for the single could have & *should have* been secured weeks ago. This is a very poorly managed company just locking up pre-orders with false shipping schedules and outright lies. Just as they did last time...and just as they assured everyone they'd not do this time.

I'll just put this here: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/showthread.php/251-More-Jalapeno-Pictures-amp-Shipping-Update

I really hope this is due to the VAST AMOUNT of orders they're prepping to fulfill with the first shipment. (that's now close to 2 months late)  Roll Eyes

We'll soon be saying 20 months late..... No big deal BFL already got your money...... They don't give a shit.....

Ah, I'm beginning to doubt that we'll see them in November.  BFL_Josh said, "We expect the final chip versions to be in our hands in ~25 days..."  That puts it on the 24th of November which is Thanksgiving weekend here in the US, which will throw shipping and such off even further.  What's the chance of there being absolutely no other issues/delays and them getting the chips delivered, the units assembled and shipped within 5 days to make November?

Right now, I want to say fourth or fifth week of November, but lots of little issues have cropped up, pushing the shipping date out a bit here and there. To be on the safe side, I would estimate...

...the fifth or sixth week of November.

So now both BFL and Tom are expecting a launch at around beginning of December. This is interesting.

We are not going to make the first half of November shipping goal.  Right now, I want to say fourth or fifth week of November, but lots of little issues have cropped up, pushing the shipping date out a bit here and there. To be on the safe side, I would estimate the end of November / beginning of December as a likely ship date.  We've had some trouble sourcing the VFD screens for the Minirig SC; the wharehouse told us they had about 5x as many screens as they really have on hand, so we are coming up short.  The good news is that we've come up with an alternate solution that is so full of awesome, I am going to save that for a later update. It is, however, necessitating a redesign of the Minirig SC case, though it won't really affect the timeline in any material fashion, as it's just one part that needs to be changed a bit to accommodate the new screen.

We are also still waiting on the HSF for the Single SC to show up - the factory has been a bit slow in that department, so that set things back a bit.

We expect the final chip versions to be in our hands in ~25 days, with final assembly and shipping to begin a few days after that.

Yeah the context was BFL but it is interesting to see how Basic does as well. I wonder if that construction crane fell off that building in New York yet...

Is the hurricane in US likely to add further delays ?

Doubtful, Unless any parts are already in transit inside the affected areas.

Or Tom gets hit in the head by flying debris, but it looks like the storm track has the winds down to 30-40MPH by the time they get to upstate.

Stay safe Tom!

umm are you talking about bASIC? Because this is a BFL thread.

The storm is huge. It will get close. Maybe Detroit area could be on the western tip. I know southern Ontario will get hit. I guess it depends on how much they rely on the east coast for supplies and manufacturing.

Design is done on the west coast, fab and assembly are in Asia, Management, Service and Shipping are in New York.

Stay safe Tom!

Who knows, just wait to see if it is added to the excuse list? Not likely, because the storm is eastcoast (amsterdam-new york flights cancelled) and Kansas is mid-us?

I don't believe any of the ASIC vendors will shop before the block reward and not because they couldn't.

When there is money involved, no one can be trusted. Especially shady bitcoin vendors.

Bitcoin is too easily hidden as income which makes the opportunity even more tempting.

Im starting to believe this as well.
A large, low-cost tinfoil supplier must have just entered the market.

I wonder if we'll see some cancellations of orders from people that were hoping to get a quick benefit before the reward drop.

Since mining is a game, whether you want to call it skill-based or gambling, I would think it's even more exciting for people to stick it out in hopes of the BTC price doubles with the reward drop.
